  1. I started working on my turrets a few days ago. I have started by making a simple Vac buck. I am going to try and pull a few with different thicknesses of plastic as one whole piece, and see if I need to break it down to a few pieces or not.
  2. Nice, I especially like the Camaro, it reminds me of the Baldwin Camaros. I had a 1970 Z-28 when I was 18, awesome car, always wanted another one. I tried to buy an early mustang three times, but I always came up an hour late and $100 short. Somebody always got there minutes before I did. I once showed up to look at a 67 Mustang, there was a guy there handing the owner a stack of cash when I pulled up.
  3. I have seen on other threads where people have some nice rides, both wings and wheels. I didn't want to hijack anyone else's thread, so I thought I would start one here. Ill start with my recent collection of rides. My 68 Dart, build 100% for an old junker, all by myself. Nobody else's hand ever touched it, took 9 years. Sold in 2015 to buy the Challenger. My 2013 GT, had for 9 months before the wife got pregnant and had to sell it for 4 door Charger. My 2015 Challenger Scat Pack, great car, but hard to get a toddler into the back seat. traded for the 2017 Charger. My current 2017 Charger Scat Pack. Best vehicle ever, suspension is a little hard for country roads. Soon to be traded for something new this summer...
  4. Excellent news! That’s a relief.
  5. I should have the brass gear any day. WHen I get back from my business trip next month, I will start working on a turret upgrade on my own.
  6. I definitely want to see pictures when you get them. So far the pictures don't look promising.
  7. I tried acrylic pencils before, but I found that they didnt work on anything but ultra matte surfaces. and if you put clear over, they melted away, hopefully the new MIG ones are better.
  8. Nige. Yes, I made a few changes before I settled on this one. Most of the photos have an open bulkhead with two supports at the doorway, then a piece of plywood behind the pilot's seat to mount the oxygen bottles on. On the radio operator's side, there were a couple supports added for the fold up table, and some switches. I have found that there are five different possible radio operator positions on the B-24, this one, and the late one over the bomb bay behind the wing were the two most common. I also believe the bulkhead that HB depicted was from a museum aircraft that was restored, and they added a couple sheets of plywood to make the bulkhead during restoration. I also cut the seats out, and I will mount them farther forward, and will add some channel to the floor for the seat tracks. I have the Airscale IP for the cockpit, Since my mods for the nose weight are in place, I am going to keep them. I will definitely use sheet on the next B-24D I build. Super accuracy for a particular plane is not an issue as I am building a fictional plane named after my wife, from the Jolly Rogers in the Pacific. I have yet to decide if it will be OD or Bare metal. Progress had stalled because I was waiting on IP, gear legs, masks, and still hoping for some updated turrets, but if I don't hear anything, I will probably start engineering a solution myself. B-24J (restored), I believe this is wrong and added during the restoration. This is the "late" J, over the bay station, I am not sure, but i think this was more common on late J's over Europe. This is a D, but this open design carried through with the J's through mid production.
  9. Nige, I agree with you, I later theorized that if I used sheet, I could have used enough without the false bulkhead. I may still get some and do some additional weight, perhaps remove the bulkhead. Now you just need to solve the Turret problems, so, get on with it!
  10. Nice bench, how long until its buried in debris? Sigh, mine is back to a 8" x 12" work area....I really need to clean my bench again.
  11. LOL, Im 49 and I have been working in Aviation (Boeing, Bell, RR, and GE) most of my life, so 10 mm in the aviation biz is a gross error! You reminded me of a previous job, where I worked in a place where I managed installation of electronic equipment in offices. We had many complaints because our crews were hanging monitors exactly level. Unfortunately, most building are far from exact, I had to explain to the guys that level is not always correct, especially if the ceiling has a little tilt. After much arguing, they finally started installing by measuring off the ceiling, rather than using levels. The engineer deep down inside is conflicted with the artist side that does things visually.
  12. Looking great, have you ever looked at the Lodella Beaufighter? They had corrected Vac parts for the cockpit and observer canopies. Also, did you hear that there is a printer cockpit set coming for the Beau? Same company that did the 3D printer revell mustang exhaust.
  13. There is always a point in Ernie's thread that goes downhill. Squirrel!
  14. These showed up yesterday. Nicer than I expected, but these are the first time I have ever used Airscale, but highly impressed.
  15. A couple thoughts/suggestions. 1. I built a Pavla Kingfisher a few years ago, it had very weak attachment points for the wing floats, I did pin it, but I also used a mix of styrene and tamiya thin glue, it make the connections ultra strong. The mix glue is very thick, but makes plastic joints as strong as the plastic itself. 2. i agree that replacing the X with wire will look way better, just dont forget the little x patch that keeps the wires from vibrating against each other.
  16. I think Ernie needs to buy a real one and restore it! ....and put "CLUNKMEISTER AIR" on the side!
  17. Tamiya XF-60 with a rust brown primer, Vallejo chipping fluid.
  18. Oh yes! My all time favorite plane! I will be stalking this thread. Here is another oddball paint job. This picture appears to be painter top and bottom in dark sea blue.
  19. My bench is an active work area for a change, finished one tank, and starting to weather the next.
  20. I am following this because I fell in love with this plane since I first saw it. I have this one in my stash and I'm waiting for the patience to build it. Dont be worried about the rigging, i learned with another plane, its not that bad, just start with inner wires and work your way out. It also helps to pre-attach all the upper wires before assembly.
