I'm assuming you mean aircraft? Which, in my case is pretty easy, considering I've only completed one since I shifted from armor to aircraft.

Tamiya P-51D "Fighting Lady" in progress
lawman56 replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Awesome! Now I have two forums to check the progress on this bird! Btw- -
Ironically, even a replica crashes just like the real thing. Makes me wince to see it, but give me a greater appreciation of the bravado it took to fly those things!
-
I think I mentioned this, but it was my first non-snap together kit , back when Tamiya released it in the 80s. Such a fantastic build right out of the box!

Ralph, I think that Panther may just kindle a love for armor.......

Powdered Weathering Pastels (What do you use?)
lawman56 replied to RalphSarc's topic in Modelling Discussion
Paul, when you do, could you possibly do a quick run down on how well they work? I'm curious, but nobody near me carries them. Hate to order something I may not like. -
Powdered Weathering Pastels (What do you use?)
lawman56 replied to RalphSarc's topic in Modelling Discussion
Nothing but MIG powders. To me, they are the easiest to use and most forgiving. With the exception of a thin black wash and light tan overspray with my airbrush, my Tamiya Spitfire, (in the completed builds thread), was weathered exclusively with MIG. -
1/32 WWII Soviet aircraft interest? ...
lawman56 replied to Artful69's topic in Modelling Discussion
First, thanks for taking the time to do this. I think if more manufacturers see we are interested, they're more likely to take a chance. Not knowing much about Soviet aircraft, I'm open to anything. One of the ways I accumualted so much knowledge about other equipment, was by being intrigued by the model, purchasing it, then researching it in an attempt to do it right. Of course that leads to more research, more model purchases, (to correct my ignorant mistakes, of course), which leads to more AM purchases, etc... I'd love to see more true Russian equipment, we've got plenty of decals to create lend-lease, but not enough true Soviet designs. -
Throw a little AMS in there, start buying PE and detail kits, and you're doomed!

Stunning! The engine looks incredibly life-like!

Fantastic review! Thanks very much. I'm grateful someone has started to create a few diorama accessories for these birds.

Mirror Models 1/35 Diamond T 969A Wrecker
lawman56 replied to NigelR32's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Good point, Nigel. I'm still thinking along the same concept, but to preserve and display the detail, I may plan something more along the same line, but possibly having the wrecker buried on one side. As if it slipped from the road surface and into the mud. I just like the irony of a "plain" truck, recovering a recovery vehicle. -
Just a suggestion, but try using the words "insignia" and "roundels" in your search. Another option, is to look through decal companies and see how they list their markings, then search using those words. Hope that helped some.

Thanks for the link! It always fascinates me as to what passed for "safe" back then. I love the Signal Corps guy attached to the "man kite"!

Looking very nice. I really like the pleats at the belt line.

Ok, so I finally managed to get more limbs and torsos for my, (as my wife calls it), "Frankenstein" box. That means I now have 2 completed, 1 almost completed, 1 started and 2 future crewmembers. Since I have no idea what anyone on a gun crew is called, except the radio operator and gun chief, I gave them my own names as I saw fit.. This one is almost done. The base coats are finished. Now it's on to the highlights, shadows, washes and weathering. I shal call him "Big bullet holding guy".... This one is done. He's the gun chief, but I shall call him "gun pointy guy".... This one is done as well. Radio operator, henceforth known as "phone talky guy"... The next one, currently under construction, is "Gun wheely turny to aim at bad guys, guy"....

Thanks Rick. I'm not quite sure why a solution that simple slipped my mind! Must be all the drooling over my new toys......

Mig 3 1:32 Trumpeter

Beautiful work! You've pulled off a stunning winter camo! -
There's such a thing as "too many"? I only thought that was in fairy tales and myth..... So Monday I rushed on down to my LHS, where my HK B-25H was waiting for me! Fantastic kit, as expected. I've been waiting for this since HK even suggested it might happen! Of course I neglected to take any pictures to post

Survey - which Phantom schemes to build?
lawman56 replied to seiran01's topic in Modelling Discussion
Voted, but I'm disappointed you didn"t have an "all of them" option....... -
My bomber collection is now complete! At least for now. I just picked up the HK B-25H from my LHS on Monday. I tend to lean towards the odd and unusual, and mounting a 75mm cannon in the nose of a medium bomber, seems to fit the bill nicely! Has anyone heard if or when Eduard may be producing an AM set for this? I'm pretty sure the Brassin .50 cals will work, and know the wheels will, but I also know the cockpit wasn't your standard B-25 office layout. I've already looked at Profimodeller's AM for it, and although I'm tempted, I have never worked with their stuff before, and have no idea what the quality is like, let alone how or where to get it in the US. Any ideas?

Since I somehow lost the actuator handle for the louvres, so I decided to scratchbuild one out of brass rod and styrene. It seemed to work. I'm not much of a scratchbuilder yet. I've developed the skills, but I've spent my time using them for HO trains and equipment, so this is a major step up in scale, and will require a little practice. I'm pretty sure I'll pick it up fairly quick.

Mirror Models 1/35 Diamond T 969A Wrecker
lawman56 replied to NigelR32's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I don't normally build recovery type vehicles, but I thought a diorama of the wrecker, buried up to it's bed in mud, being pulled free by the front winch on a plain old "Duece and a half", would be amusing.
