Harv, Glad to hear your on the mend. Get well soon!
-
Wow! I can't imagine a 1/35 kit with that many parts-----must be small, tiny, easily lost parts....I have a couple of Miniart kits... So I can believe it! Please, when the time comes ,WIP!

Any more news on Harvey?...... hoping he's doing well.

Renault RE20 Turbo - Tamiya - 1/12
belugawhaleman replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Nice build Rob! I remember when that kit came out....I wanted to build It, but the paint scheme scared me off. -
Another 1/16 kit arrived moments ago! From Trumpeter, It's their T-34/85 Model 1944 Facory No. 183 (00902). These are big kits....around 800 or so parts! I've got to build one of these. I now have four of these kits...plus their Su-100. I plan to build the Su-100 First. I think the Big SU has something like 1100 parts! Anyway, I have to start building something as I have had a kit sitting for a few weeks needing to be finished!......I'll finish that, then I'll find something big to build.

Hobby Craft Sea Fury
belugawhaleman replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
The Big Sea Fury ? Well, it's got to be the one of the best piston engine- all-time cool aircraft out there....Like the Grumman Bearcat...cool-as-hell! Great work...I'll be watching! Regards; Paul -
Ha! You beat me to it! I just ordered mine this morning from Andy's.

He-112 B-0 over Spain 1:48 LF Models
belugawhaleman replied to Kriss's topic in LSM 1/48 Work in Progress
Interesting subject...the elliptical wing reminds me of a Spitfire. -
Thanks for the pics! Gotta love the little Hetzer suprised to see the T-26 in German Markings.....Both would make great subjects for a Takom big-scale small tank! I see Takom has a host of Hetzers in 1/35.....with interiors no less, including a soon to be released Swiss G-13 version.

Looking great Pete!

Sorry to hear of this. Bad news.....Hope all goes well for him..both the surgery and recovery.

I have to agree about the Takom ( including Andy's). The Trumpeter T72 tracks were a nightmare... Involving filing and sanding to get each link to fit. Mine, currently is on hold...just gave up, but I will eventually finish it as there Isn't much left to do.....There isn't much detail to that kit...no interior and missing details ....headlights an example. Your money, is better spent on the Takom big scale kits....or on Trumpeter's T34s. Their SU 100 is excellent. Will be building that one soon.

I recently purchased some masks by an outfit...Jay's Work, for A St. Chamond, Hetzer, and B1 bis tanks. They are "kabuki" paper...and look O.K. to me. The St. Chamond is meant for the early version of this tank, ( I have the late). Never used these before....I think these, well, are an interesting solution. Will eventually give them a try. I have some aircraft canopy masks....Eduard.. (P 38, Mosquito, and Wildcat [Tamiya] ) but I haven't made Many aircraft since my return to modeling. When I was a kid..with better eyesight, I used Scotch "magic" tape and a sharp #11blade. I'm glad these mask sets are available now! Well, I'll be viewing this topic ..to learn.. as I haven't much experience with these.

Man! I'd love to see that place! I'm a subscriber to their YouTube channel..... It looks like they have a great collection.

Today came another big 1/16 kit; From Andy's Hobby Headquarters, it's his M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight" Late WWII/Korean War (AHHQ-004). I already had his earlier big-scale Sherman. This one has the later ( more familiar) T80 tracks and a figure that was sculpted based on a photo of Andy's grandfather.... Well, of the Two Shermans I'll probably build this one first. I haven't cracked the box yet, but judging from the previous kit it should be a great kit.

Sad to hear of this, our nation, no, let me amend myself...a tendency toward virtue signaling, and self righteous individuals has led to censorship not seen before. in our history has led control of the few over the many. Denying the past has no benefits..... Often it's childish and silly. Only by reviewing the past can we learn...a model,...a work of art, is an expression of one's talent and desire to create.....this is protected by free speach. Why is a Crucifix immersed in urine protected ?(remember Maplethorpe) ..while an image of a defunct and defeated regime's aircraft be used as an opportunity to ban an individual? A model of a 109 doesn't suggest approval ...it represents historical fact...and that only! It's a hobby, not an assault on liberty....or Socialism for that matter! What we see here is the desire to divide and control people at every level....and That is what should be considered as an attack on liberty and decency! This is not meant to be political... This is just common sense and an appeal for tolerance and decency!

Well, a trip to my local Ace Hardware resulted in this purchase; Tamiya's Douglas A-1H Skyraider U.S.Navy (61058) in 1/48 scale. Surprised to see it there.....looks like a nice kit despite having some age to it. I was happy to see that Waukegan will be hosting an air show on Sept. Ninth this year after being canceled for "Lifestyle changes" last Year........high fuel costs, most probably, although fuel costs are up again. Anyway, some Skyraiders will be featured this year. Also the website says there'll be A 10 warthogs ...that'll be cool , their last appearances were memorable! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-61058-douglas-a-1h-skyraider--104854 https://northernillinoisairshow.com/ https://www.warbirdheritagefoundation.org/

Looks like a great kit. I Imagine adding all those numbered smoke ring circles will be a bit tiresome, but it's an interesting solution......

Today an accessory kit for my Tamiya M40 kit.... It's Tamiya's 1/35 Scale U.S. M40 Metal Gun Barrel Set. (12670). Looks good; with a turned aluminium barrel (rifled), ten turned brass projectiles, and even has a sheet of decal markings to add to the rounds. This set is hard to find.....but I found one on the King's Hobbies website. Now I won't have to fill and sand the seams of that long kit barrel! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-12670-m40-metal-gun-barrel-set--1003301

3rd time is the charm, I guess? Heller models related
belugawhaleman replied to ScottsGT's topic in General Discussion
No, 'bought it because it's cute. Seriously, these little Ferguson tractors were imported to the U.S. and sold as Fords. Later Ford manufactured them in the U.S. . I had a friend when I was a kid, whose father had one.......we used to drive it when Randy's dad wasn't around. -

I had a similar problem ....with a Takom part.....I was able to get the part without much difficulty...I'm glad Heller is able to help you! I've not had much experience building Heller (or Aifix) kits....recently bought a Heller "petit gris" tractor.....not sure why! -
Very nice John!

Thanks, I'll have a look at the video.
