Well, I hope your experiences with the cutter are good...In my case...with these wheels. Mine proved very useful .The best thing is to watch the YouTube videos how to use it. Basically, you measure the circle you want to cut...and set the cutter to half that size..then when you cut your circle it will be the right size. -

Still working on my Israeli M51 Tamiya 1/35........... Today 'been working on painting the road wheels... Did twelve today. First, they were painted with a Tamiya Lacquer spray can....overall In Nato black (TS-63). This paint holds up well when masking...much better than Tamiya's acrylic. Next, I used my DSPIAE circle cutter to cut 24 holes in a sheet of adhesive-backed vinyl . then cut around these holes to make masks. Applying them to the road wheels.... Well, that was a little tricky at first, but then I got the hang of it. It seems to have worked well. The wheels turned out nice. Well, twelve more to go. I'll do this tonight..when I return home from my visit to my Mom's. The circle cutter worked well.....but I did mess up my table... ..lots of little circles scribed on it now. I have a sheet of glass that I normally use...but somehow, I forgot to use it.....Duh! -

Ironically, I've always identified with petrified toads, don't know why..I've always thought they were brethren.... Just me, I've just felt that way....perhaps because the Kenneth Grahame stories. Only Tamiya kits....versus motorcars...and gypsy wagons...just me. P.s. where can I get one of those add-on bidets?.....just asking! -

Made that kit years ago! Nice to see!! I love to see Japanese stuff! Don't stop, Good stuff ! Paul, the Belugawhaleman. -
Today, another one, and..yet again,.. by Tamiya. This time something a little different, it's Tamiya's JGSDF Light Armored Vehicle (35368). A nice little kit of what I think is kind of a good-looking vehicle, although it didn't see any use except by Japan......It looks a bit like the French Panhard. The kit is unusual, having a diecast chassis....apparently to give it some weight. It looks good...parts are secured to it by carefully hidden screws. The body is molded in one piece and impressively so. The kit also has rubber tires. This kit has also been sold as a version used by Japan in Iraq...it has a turret. Anyway, something a little different and probably brings my Tamiya spree to an end.....for a while. Although, one of their Spitfires ...or perhaps a Corsair, well, never mind for now.

I still think that Whirlwind is one cool-looking aircraft! If Tamiya ever makes one....you know I'll buy it! -

I chose to do the sand color rather than the gray 1973 color scheme. Again, I tried to pre shade, but lost the effect. I guess I need more practice.. My camera makes sands look a little more yellow than they are... I'll fix the photo if i can. I've added a more representative photo. -

A little more progress.... Added and painted the return rollers, the Spare wheels, painted the cupola windows, and painted the left side water can. Will work on the road wheels and idler wheels tonight. Then gloss coat and pin wash.....then, on to the decals! -

This kit gives an option of a grayish colored vehicle....... Your suppose to mix buff with medium gray to get the color.....sounds dull as well. -

Still plodding along on the Tamiya M51 Sherman... Got some paint on it, painted the canvas cover on the gun mantlet etc. Got to do the road wheels... Sigh. I will use a stencil when I do those. A fun kit...I like the early cast hull. -

Great work Gary! -
Man alive! Sorry to hear of you troubles......that window is not a small part ,really, ..keep looking....I tried looking up GWH customer service and distributors... Not much success, really, none actually...try using the other part as a template to make another part....that may work. I wish you well, as I would like to see your finish your project. Best wishes; Paul

Small load of needed supplies from Tower Hobbies came today; All Tamiya stuff;....including extra thin cement (quick), some of the orange topped stuff, four bottles of XF-93 Light brown (DAK 1942), and another bottle of XF-57 Buff. I've never tried the XF-93 before....unfortunately it's only available in 10ml bottles or in spray cans......don't know why. The orange-topped cement works well...it gives you more time to position and gives a very strong bond.....takes a bit longer to dry though.

Today, from Amazon came a kit I've been wanting for a while. From FineMolds, their IJA Type 95 Scout Car Kurogane 4x4 (fm50) in 1/35 scale. The box was a little tattered, but the contents are fine. This quirky little Japanese WW2 4x4 has always appealed to me. Mechanically, it's an interesting beast. Powered by a V twin, air-cooled engine, with an independent front suspension, this Little 3-seater must have been a fun ride. I've never made a FineMolds kit before. A quick look inside the box showed that this looks like a decent kit with good detail, but of course, very small. Should be a fun build of an interesting little vehicle. I've included a video of the car that shows a comparison between it , a kubelwagen, and a jeep.

Well, most of their newer kits anyway.😀

Today, another Tamiya kit. I really like Tower Hobbies free basic shipping! (Fedex). I ordered this yesterday at about 9:30 in the morning......I got it today. Anyway it's Tamiya's 2021 release of their Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf.G Sd.Kfz 161/1 Early production. (35378) Similar to their f model, this kit has the same link & length tracks with jigs to help make the sag in the upper run.. This kit has the longer gun and different turret details that are on the G model. This kit includes five figures....and they look pretty good......I may make them this time. Nice kit.

Sounds like a great product. I've been using tamiya spray primer. More recently, I've had excellent results by thinning Mr. Surfacer 1500 with leveling thinner and using it in my airbrush.....an Iwata Hp-c plus , .3 nozzle @ 20 psi

Something a little different. Not a Tamiya product, but should prove to be useful. From Amazon, came a case of 2 ounce, screw- topped jars. They are 2.13 inches wide by 2 inches tall. I purchased similar jars a while back but they had plastic lids. These have metal lids and what looks like teflon seals. These I find useful for mixing and storing paint.

Still working on the Tamiya M51 Sherman...... Primer on ...using bothTamiya primer and MR. Surfacer 1500 thinned with leveling thinner which works great. Still debating what to use to paint it. A mixture of Tamiya desert yellow and buff was suggested by a modeler on YouTube..... May try some pre-shading first..I've never got this right, usually applying the color coat to heavily and losing the effect.. We'll see. Anyway, it's good to be doing something at least....I'll try to be a little more creative, perhaps, this time.😀 Please note the Tamiya thinner and Mr. Surfacer were not mixed together....they were used separately. -

With free shipping and a $5.00 "Loyalty reward" discount.....how could I resist? This came from Tower Hobbies today. It's Tamiya's Kubelwagen type 82 Africa-Corps (35238). This version has different wheels/tires......balloon tires with what appear to be hubcaps. Will be a fun little build, I'm sure. At $13.00 total.....a bargain.
