Thank you Hubert! Thanks Carl. I'll give that a try and cross my fingers.

I have a Fisher F9F-2 Panther that I had started several years ago. It's been on the shelf for 5-6 years or so. I had masked off the canopy and windscreen using Scotch tape and it has sat that way all that time. Today I decided to see about re-starting the build but the big problem right now is, after I removed the tape, there is significant stickum residue left behind on both the canopy and windscreen. Not a unexpected problem but, using my usual method of removing left over stickum by applying new strips of tape and pulling them off, which will usually pull the old stickum off, it just isn't working. It's stuck on there and refuses to come off. I think it's due to (1) the canopy/windscreen are clear resin and (2) the original tape has been left on there for FAR too long. Can anyone recommend a solution that won't ruin the clear parts???? Any help is appreciated.

LOL Jerry! I know what you mean but when one that you "want" but haven't been able to find shows up it's time to "strike while the iron is hot" as they say. LOL

Thanks Jerry! -
It's been my experience that this version has been hard to find but Scale Hobbyist has some. So I ordered one for the stash. Just thought some of y'all might want one too.

Thanks Peter. I'm happy with the nose shape as I do think it looks much better than the original. For some reason the model just doesn't "snap my gallouses" like I expected it would. Go figure. 😄 -

Thanks Hubert. I agree that the nose shape looks 100% better now. And actually it wasn't all that difficult to do. -

Finished with this one! https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/18016-trumpeterrevell-p-51b-done/ -
Finished with this one. Grafting the nose of a Revell P-51D onto a Trumpeter "B" was something I wanted to try and I think it worked out fairly well. Certainly better than the original "pointy" Trumpeter nose. Not too difficult to do but it did need some re-shaping of the underside of the nose to look "right". I decided to do Deacon Hively's "B" since it was colorful with the red nose and tail stripe plus all the invasion stripes. I had to re-scale and print out some 1/48 Aeromaster decals for the codes and "The Deacon" logo. I used a Aires cockpit set, Barracudacast wheels, FineMolds seat belts, and Aerocraft exhausts and blown canopy (and I see now where the CA glue I used to attach the canopy has fogged it some so I'll have to see about replacing it.) The drop tanks and pylons are from a Tamiya kit. Painted with MM paints. I hope you like it because, and I hate to say it, I'm not particularly happy with it. 😐 I might decide to strip it down and re-do it at some point but for now I'm ready to move on to something else.

That's a good looking VW Scott. Whether you use white primer or just flat white paint (which is what I use) it makes any paint job easier.
-
Scott, In my VAST model painting experience (LOL) I have found that applying a coat of flat white first (as a "primer") helps a LOT toward getting better coverage of whatever color will be used for the final scheme, especially light colors like yellow and even red. Trying to get adequate coverage, even on gray plastic, can use a lot of paint and many coats. Just my .2 cents. John

This one is coming along nicely Scott. Yellow and white are the two biggest PITA to paint and your paint job looks great! I look forward to seeing the finished bird!

LOL Thanks Peter. So far so good in spite of the little "problems". I'll shoot some clear gloss in prep for decaling shortly. -
