Thanks Gaz!! -
As always with Tamiya the build was very enjoyable with few snags (self inflicted usually!). I decided to depict Johnnie Johnson's Mk IX as it likely looked on D-Day. I wasn't able to find any photos that showed the whole a/c except for one with no invasion stripes. Probably taken at a much later date as the codes were a little different and the a/c looked a bit worn. After market items added were brass Master Barrel cannons of the correct type, Barracudacast main wheels and seat. I replaced the kit gunsight with one from my spares box which is of the gyro stabilized type. After it was installed and the windscreen in place I read that Johnson preferred the older type. Oh well. Paints are mostly Xtracolor but the stripes are MM. Decals are a mix of kit decals Eaglecals and others from my extensive spares/leftover stash. Thanks to Carl (BlrwestSir) for the JE-J masks! I didn't do any weathering except for some exhaust stains as I figure, as a Wing Commander, the ground crew kept the a/c in clean condition. I hope y'all like the results of my efforts.

LOL Maybe they will make a exception!

I saw that too Harv but was able to make myself wait! The shipping would likely be pricey.

Thanks Rob. I look forward to getting one!

Yes indeed Peter. Thank you! -
I had a line on one on ebay but someone lodged a higher bid at the last moment so I lost out. So, I'm looking around for one. Either trade or $$$ or a mix of both.

It's a good read alright. Right now I'm re-reading "Night Fighter" by Jimmy Rawnsley. Another good one!

Good looking Skyraider! Well done.

I just finished reading it for about the 3rd time.

Thank you Gaz! Getting close to the finish line.

Status as of today. All ready for the code masks. By the way, if you click on the pictures it comes up a bit sharper, etc.

Bent wing bird- Tamiya F4U-1A
JohnB replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
How the heck did I miss this one??? Looking really good! No doubt it will be a stunner when done. Love those Corsairs by Tamiya. -
Thanks Carl. I don't recall having any problems with the wing folds BUT, I've slept since then! LOL Really, I think they worked out okay with few if any "problems".

Thank you Harv! Unfortunately those photos were taken with my old camera so they just are not up to snuff. I'll re-shoot them one of these days.
