  1. Thanks but it will be a cold day in hell when I ask Jennings for anything.
  2. Uh oh. I see the a/c I intended to build had a -1A canopy. That means I'll have to make another choice as I don't want to put a -1A canopy on the model. Or maybe I'll go on and use the frameless one. Could be that at some point that a/c had one installed. Thanks for the photo Martin. There are several things to look out for when building a -1D Corsair. They include what type canopy (some early -1D's used the -1A canopy), rocket stubs or no rocket stubs (appears early -1D's didn't have 'em), and the cutout step on the right inboard flap. A great reference is Dana Bell's two books on the Corsairs.
  3. Yes indeed, it's a great kit and enjoyable to build. Great photos!
  4. Yep. Ya just can't have too many Corsair's.
  5. Thanks. It's like a breath of fresh air!
  6. Will be a very enjoyable build after fighting that P-61 tooth and nail.
  7. Tentatively this is my subject this time.
  8. My tried and true procedure when starting a new build is to paint as many parts as possible on the sprue. This makes things easier as I go along. I can always touch up whatever areas need it like where parts are cut from the sprue. No problemo.
  9. Finish it up Phil. I'd love to see the model finished.
  10. Yep, it's a SOB alright. I expect even the most expert builders would agree. It makes you appreciate all the more the Tamiya and Hasegawa kits, just to name two.
  11. Jeff. Whenever you get to your build you will see why I really like the kit(s). Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to provide answers.
  12. Tamiya certainly does a great job. I wish some of the other manufacturer's would take note and make changes to the quality of their kits. I look forward to seeing your Spitfire.
  13. You have made some nice progress on it James. Go for the finish line.
  14. I guess it's just a kit that has more than it's fair share of problems. I wish I had never bought the dam thing.
  15. That's just the way it goes. I'll revisit it some time in the future.
  16. LOL Ernie. I too like resin kits/accessories as long as they are good quality and don't require a lot of "make work". I built two HpH resin P-63's which were no walk in the park but were enjoyable builds with very good moldings and details.
  17. That P-61 has fought me tooth and nail from day one and I've just had enough. This hobby is supposed to be fun and that SOB definitely is not fun (unless you are a masochist). I'm looking forward to enjoying the Corsair build.
  18. Overall GSB for sure but specific markings are undecided right now.
  19. Well I'll be damned! I like to have fallen out of my chair when I saw Futter's post. Here I was thinking all that BS was behind us. PLEASE, no more!!!!!!
  20. It's just one of my favorite a/c PLUS a outstanding kit.
  21. After all the hair pulling and cussing while TRYING to build that SOB Hobby Boss P-61 I have decided to get some really enjoyable build time for a change. Time for ANOTHER Corsair! Some of you already know my penchant for the Tamiya Corsairs as I've built NINE already from the -1, the -1A, and the -1D. This will be a nice change and I am more than ready for it.
