Just a poll on model preferences because Iām curious.

Mixed bag of nuts I guess but by a wide margin props. -
Eduard 1/48 Wilder Cat FM-2. Looks to be a very nice kit with decals for 10 aircraft. Just might be my next build as I've wanted a good kit of the FM-2 for a long time. Would be great if they'd issue it in 1/32 too!

Tamiya F4U-1 Birdcage Corsair 1:32
JohnB replied to shadowmare's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Yes, it's a shame they no longer are producing new 1/32 kits. There are so many that would be excellent kits by them. š -
Revell P-51D "Louisiana Heat Wave" saved from the SOD
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I thought it was appropriate for sure! LOL It does have some problem areas which usually have some cuss factors involved! Here are a couple of shots of other "problem" areas FYI. -

Yes it's Revell. Certainly not up to Tamiya standards but still a good kit for the cost. However, in future, I intend to go with Tamiya. Too many headaches with the Revell kits even though the price is better. š -

Made some good progress over the last few days. The areas marked as "problem fit" have always been a PITA to get sorted out. 𤪠-
Converting a Hasegawa P-40M to a L
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks Peter. I caused the big gaps on the underside when I cut out too much plastic. One of those "uh oh" moments. 𤪠-

Converting a Hasegawa P-40M to a L
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I'm going to give this one a rest until I can figure out how I want to approach the fit (or lack thereof). The contour of the Trumpeter nose is more rounded for one thing and I have to decide how I'm going to "adjust" that AND fill in the gaps I created 𤪠on the underside. I'm not giving up on it but it IS time for something else. š -
Maybe at some time later on he'll surface. It would be nice to have his stuff available again.

Converting a Hasegawa P-40M to a L
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I'm hoping the P-40 turns out well but we will see. š -
Does anyone know what became of their molds, etc. They had some nice stuff.

Yes indeed! I'm hoping the cuss factor isn't too high! -

Thanks Peter. My fingers are crossed everything works out. I expect LOTS of "adjusting" will be needed but we will see. -

This is the "L" I plan to do. It's in the Kagero Top Colors book #11 Fighters Over Italy. Decals included. -
Kitty Hawk 1/35 SH-60B Seahawk
JohnB replied to Peterpools's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Too bad as I was looking forward to seeing it finished. However, I completely agree that when a kit becomes such a PITA with a high cuss factor it's time to bin it, or put it on the SOD. We aren't doing this to have to put up with poorly engineered junk. I hope you will soon move on to something enjoyable. -
I've had the Trumpeter P-40F on the SOD for a while but now I've decided to use it for a conversion on the Hasegawa P-40M. The nose is what is needed as the F/L's used Merlin engines with a different air scoop setup. The Trumpeter nose can be grafted on to the Hasegawa forward fuselage after some surgery. The first photo here shows what is needed. The second shows the mod to the Hasegawa spinner to make it conform to the Trumpeter nose. Lots of cutting and test fitting but I HOPE to get this done without too much of a cuss factor! We will see!!!

Thanks Paul!

Thanks Scott. I appreciate the nice comment and heartily agree.

Thank you Carl. I'm glad you like it. I have quite a number of armor kits in my stash which I intend to build "one of these days". LOL

Thanks Phil. No tactical markings at this point but maybe later.

Rye Field Sherman M4A3E8 build
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Finished with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19554-rye-field-sherman-done/ -
I've gone about as far as I want to on this build. Depicting it all dirtied up with crap all over it, etc. just isn't what I want to do. So, here it is in a fairly "clean" depiction with just a bit of dirt and dust on the running gear. Since I'm not usually into building armor I hope you guys that are into it will cut me some slack! LOL I hope you like it!
