My model area is a disaster area at the moment. total chaos. However, I did manage to sneak a look in the box that Ernie sent! Christmas in July for reals! I won't post photos, as there are more on this site, let's just spit it out! A Border Models Lancaster! I'm besides joy and I have drooled at it and fondled some plastic in anticipation. I have looked at a few videos since I found out, and I must say it's a superb kit. Looking at it myslef, I can only pray I won't make a hamfisted mistake, as it is a serious kit. A little work, will make it a great kit! As for impurities and damages, I have some very minor cracking in the clear parts, not enough to make it an issue, and obviously the same issue with the somewhat blurry clears. I concur with what others are saying, that there must have been a stop between the WNW work and then Border Models took over. No worries, My models are so bad it won't matter! I looked at 2 other areas where I had spotted some minor damages in others' videos; the longitudinal ribs in the bomb bay, where I found no damages on mine, and the canopy framing. I saw one that looked like a mangled set of tubes, but mine had 1 (one) bent upright, which I'm sure I can fix with a tad of gentle bending. Their packing is getting better! Ernie, I'm forever grateful for this one!

Greater Sudbury it says... Just down from Costco.

So THIS landed on my doorstep today courtesy of Ernie... Wonder what that could be? I won't tell until I get home Sunday. I'm away in Sudbury, and don't have my bench even close to set up. We just moved, hence the Uhaul box underneath the nice LARGE box from the brothers of sprue... https://imgur.com/ObWedem

One Month Challenge: COMPLETED
Winnie replied to GazzaS's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Bundaberg Rum... Haven't heard about that since I read "Hungry as the sea" by Wilbur Smith... I must renew the search! Cheers! Oh and the scene is going to be masterful! -
What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

Well... I just got a new job, I did a month in Philadelphia at the Leonardo Factory for a type course on the AW139, and while I was there my wife took care of the move, unfortunately for us, the mover is now holding our stuff in a different city because they can't find a "trailer" or "container" to fit the stuff on. what should have been delivered 2 weeks ago is still another 2 to 3 weeks away according to them. This sucks... Projects I want to work on, are held hostage, but I WILL have a new fancy modeling space, if only I get my shit... Anyway, this is not a negative nelly post, I DID find a couple kits at Megahobby in New Jersey! (Nothing LARGE though!) -
I have a spare set of ResKit CF-104 wheels in 1/32nd scale, so whomever is in need of a set, let me know, and I'll send them to you! No cost. Cheers Harald

It's Winter and a Nor'Easter is heading our way
Winnie replied to Peterpools's topic in General Discussion
We had a blizzard yesterday, got a bit of snow, maybe 6 inches total but the snowfall wasn't too bad, most of the accumulation was due to blowing not falling snow. What's worse is that the temperature dropped from -4C, which is reasonable or even shall we say mild in Manitoba, to -30C in 24 hours... It's downright nasty out now... -
I ordered 3 spouts for my Mr. Color thinners, halfway around the world in 2 weeks. Included a little fun gift too. Good store. Mind you it's my first experience with them.

HK Models Lancaster Cockpit Section
Winnie replied to Winnie's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
I agree Harv. I bought the HpH B-52 Cockpit, but I wish it had fuselage sides... But I hope to do it some justice! -
First real completed Large Scale Kit for this site. The Lancaster cockpit section from HK Models. This is quite large, and I can't begin to imagine how large the whole thing is! I'm not as accomplished as most of you here, but I did a for me, good job. tried some weathering techniques inside, with some worn off metal by chipping the floors and desks etc. hard to see from outside. I used the Eduard Cockpit set as the kit comes with nothing. Surprised really, but I guess we can't get everything we want! Canadian subject because Canada! Anyway, I started this this summer, and completed it today! For some reason the chipping on the display cart doesn't show up in the images, and the Canopy is not fixed in place, I chose to leave it removable so I can peak inside... Cheers Harald

Just got some new Anyz materials. I'm sure most of you are aware of Anyz, and he recently came out with a new line of materials, Photoetched buckles! I got some additional stuff, but I thought it worth mentioning in any case! Some more decals, and seat belt buckles in 48th and 32nd. These are great additions to the model enhancement catalogue! Cheers! H.

Modeling bench ideas and input UPDATE! It’s done.
Winnie replied to ScottsGT's topic in Modelling Discussion
I have bought a couple different solutions, but nothing really works "perfectly", Either they take too much space from the workbench, or they don't hold enough bottles. I now have paint from about 12 different brands and lines, for different applications... Over 250 bottles stored in various places on the bench. I need a mansion for this to be perfect. My perfect room would have 3 wall benches, and room for a conference table in the middle, with 1 side dedicated to building, one to painting and one for "other". The conference table would be for having friends over for build nights. I'd have a paint booth vented through the wall, and wide enough to fit a large 32nd model. and deep enough to be able to do the same. but alas... have to win the lotto first. -
12 hours now, after some idiots at Sunwing could't show up sober after 8 hours... And with 12 hour shifts, no time for "cough syrup" lol. And NO Confetti!!
-
Well there's enough tragedy around the planet, don't need it striking here! I'll have a "cough syrup" for you in a few days when I go off shift, new rules are too stingent at the moment so can't have any between shifts!
-
I'm just happy you're up and about. Went and got my booster yesterday, and that knocked me on my behind for the day, but can be anything like what you've been through twice. Get well soon!
-
I really want to go, but we will have to see what this Covid sh#t is doing... And work.
-
I do! I am hoping to start it in 2022!
-
Wish I'd not decided to fold mine... it caused me to shelve the kit for a bit... I'll take mine out again soon though, need my Butch O'Hare plane!
-
Get well soon! Nothing else matters. hope you and the rest of your family aren't feeling too bad. Harald

Wow. I'm speechless! What a fantastic Christmas this has been. I got to work with two fantastic senior pilots, got some absolutely fantastic gifts from my family. And now this... I'm speechless! Thank you all, and Ernie, a fellow Manitoban!
