Bardahl Special racer revisited

John Nice choice for your next build and I'm on for the journey. You should have worked a deal for a case of Revell P-51's. 😉 -

Phil Mighty awesome progress and your Mossie is looking brilliant. I used the kits 20mm chutes and yours blows them away. I'm not sure they were available when I built mine, but I sure wish they did. -

Kev Nice progress and can't wait to be front and center for your ScharnHorst build - surely is going to be epic. -

Kev Glad she is back on track and looking good. Sometimes for me, the best way to go when something has gone amiss; just do what you did and get right back in the saddle. She is looking mighty good. Most of my builds seem to nearly always have those roadblocks these days. -

Carl Nice to see you digging in and back to work on the Andromeda build. For me, the more I worry about certain stages/decisions of a build and what to do, the longer the project seems to collect 'builder's dust' and another project corrals my attention and bench time. For me anyway, the best solution is to dive back in and just start building. Glad to see you went the 'dive back into the pool route'. -

John Holy Smokes, no Corsair kits in the stash - I would have thought that was impossible. 😉 -

John Awesome build and she looks so good. The grafted Revell upper wings looks perfect and you made it look so easy. 🏆 -
Tamiya P-51D "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" is next

John Glad you found a fix that worked and didn't turn into a pending disaster. Can't believe you finished another 32nd scale kit to your usual high standards and I'm still floundering with the Sea Fury. She is in the paint shop now, primer and the first color coat done but the weather has been steady rain and a 100% humidity. Since the Ac isn't on this time of the year to dry out the house, painting is out of the question until the rain hits the road. Heading over to check out your latest Mustang build. -

John You're flying through this Mustang for sure and she is looking so good. -
Oliver And you questioned your abilities and skill with armor. Nothing could be further from reality.

John Looking so good - you worked your magic and the MG leading edge fairings look perfect. -

Nothing like remembering the good old days. After soling in the J3, I got my PP in a Cessna 150 and all my other ratings in a Cessna 172. -

John Just look at all the work you had to do to get a part to fit when they should have fit right from the start. Just a lot of work where it shouldn't need be. Yes, I know on some of the MG leading edges there are fairings but there has to be a better way then the way it is approached, which is absolutely a PITA method. -

John Nice POA for the MG leading edge parts. For the life of me, I just don't understand why manufacturers insist on using this approach to the MG portion of the wing leading edge. What they just can't mold the ENTIRE leading wing portion of the wing as one piece and eliminate the always crappy fitting part. Then just have the MG barrels as an insert part. They could always add the MG ammo and gun bay covers as a separate piece but that on a relatively flat/slightly curved surface and wouldn't be an issue at all. -
Paul Nice to see a quality vendor working at keeping a customer, a happy customer. Can't go wrong with a Tamiya kit - you're going to enjoy the build.

Ernie, as I remember it took me a lot longer to solo in a J3 Cub, 2038M at Zahns Airport, Amityville, NY in 1965. I road my bike to the airport (still waiting for my turn at drivers ed in HS so I could get my drivers license). BTW, the cost of flying in those days: solo - $12/hr and with an instructor - $21/hr. Back in 1965, that was a bit a tidy of money for a teenager and at best, I could only afford and hour a week. -
