  1. Gaz Agreed and I'm getting anxious to get back to my Zm 109 after the Skyraider. Painting masks will hopefully replace and solve my decal issues.
  2. Thanks Gaz Yup, it actually did turn out that I can work on two kits at the same time ... who would have ever guessed? Just looking at all the research and then the actual time to build a ship kit, just seems way more then I'm ready to commit to.
  3. John Great tip for sure and I still have a few more Tamiya Corsairs in my stash .. please remind me down the road if I forget.
  4. John Wings look spot on for sure, not that you haven't had any practice and a few Corsairs under your belt๐Ÿ˜‰
  5. Hubert Well said and it's a shame that Infinity has decided to 'leave' the IM 32nd scale arena. I've read a number of posts and followed some discussions and the consensus of opinion seems to be (whether right or wrong); the quality of the kit in general, subject and the need to purchase the AM detail sets that some feel a portion of those details should have been included with the kit, was a very large reason for slow and poor sales. In a way, sort of a reflection of Kitty Hawk's demise with the quality and fit of their kits. I'm only a bystander as I haven't bought any of the Infinity kits mainly as I do not enjoy a good fight in building a kit these days. There would be exceptions for me based on subject: give me an accurate P-51B and P-38 and I would be first on the pre order line.
  6. Ron Don't push it and drive yourself nuts. I know what you are going though as my brother is nearly blind now in one eye and the other is slowly deteriorating. Good luck and fingers crossed with your surgery in a few weeks. ๐Ÿคž
  7. Nice progress on the seat and yup. it was made from Bakelite.
  8. Thanks Gaz. I'm getting there and to think, working on two ZM kits nearly at the same time.
  9. Thanks Carl, Don't want to jinx the build, but so far, so good ๐Ÿคž
  10. Thanks Phil, so far, so good and no hills to climb.
  11. CLOSING UP THE FUSELAGE Construction wise, the Skyraider is going together quite well without any real issues at all. All the internal parts have now been glued into place for strengthening the fuselage (she is a Big Gal). The tailwheel and arrester hook assembly has been completed, painted and installed. A good deal of the details are above the wheel well assembly, were not painted and will never be seen passed this stage. The interior of the tail wheel assembly was painted with MRP Gloss White and the details highlighted with Tamiya Dark Brown Panel Line Wash. The arresting hook itself was cut off the assembly, painted separately so that the black stripes can be painted later on and then added at the end of the build. To add extra strength when adding the arrestor hook, I drilled out both gluing faces and added a brass rod for extra strength. Of course, while removing the rudder from the fret, I managed to break off both the anti-static discharge lines. Two holes were drilled out in the rudder, so that the anti-static lines can be added from stretch sprue at the end of the build. Adding them any sooner and it would only be a matter of minutes before I broke them off again.
  12. Yup, absolutely the Iron Works Gang and Grumman aircraft were built as tough as they come to bring their pilot's home.
  13. Rob Thanks for the size comparison photos - pretty small but racers tend to be a small as possible, with the most amount of horsepower allowed. Terrific progress and looking mighty good
  14. Thanks Phil. ZM kits have come a long way and I'm not so sure, going the route of all the hidden detail, which has to add quite a bit to the production cost, was the right way to go. I'm finding the Skyraider a much more enjoyable build then the 109. Just keep looking, I'm sure another Skyraider deal will come along.
  15. Oliver Doors open of course. Just looked up the book and seems to a good way of adding depth to by shadows and highlights. Looking forward to seeing effective the technique is.
  16. Nice progress on the Spit. Kit looks fantastic and absolutely is living up to all that has been said about it.
  17. John Amazing progress as always. The R2800 rear and exhausts look mighty good and the Victor cowl set looks; wow - love the details and crispness of the molding. Can you imagine what Tamiya could turn out today in detail and molding in 32nd scale, seeing how their new 48th scale kits are incredible. Just don't think that will ever happen as my gut feeling, is Tamiya have left 32nd scale when it comes to producing any new kits and all that is manufactured are the kits that are already in it's hanger. Keep 'em comin Peter
  18. Martim The two books sure are a find. Some mighty nice Red Fox Panel Sets. Love to see you install one in your next build and then we can all look to compare them with Quinta Studio. Keep 'em comin Peter
  19. Kev Way to go - that's a steal for sure and of course, you will be diving into the Spit as your next build๐Ÿ˜‰ Keep 'em comin Peter
  20. Hubert, I think I understand a lot better now. Sometimes we need to use our modelers license, coupled with some scale effect to overcome the limitations of color, light and shadow as we are trying to replicate how we see objects in full size and transfer that image to a scale object, so much smaller. After working with a lot of Quinta sets, yes, I agree the details are a littler large then scale and the colors tends to be more vivid, all of which uplifts the assembly to look more realistic, even though it isn't. Keep 'em comin Peter
  21. Thanks Gaz, she is HUGE! Yup, the Quinta decal sets are awesome and even include a nice set of seatbelts as well. Keep 'em comin Peter
  22. Thanks Paul, much appreciated. Keep 'em comin Peter
