  1. Thanks guys for the help. This is so far my first 'go' at WWII Luftwaffe colors and first 109. In fact my first official Luftwaffe build. And I thought the AVG colors were confusing 🙃
  2. For me, it's going as slow and carefully as possible and holding my breath with each pass of the scriber.
  3. Thanks Hubert .. after the fantastic pathology consultation, a little bit of the wrong primer was a non issue to deal with. I should have been more careful when I placed my order and will be a lot more careful in the future. Of course, I assumed MRP only made one type of prime - same on me. 😉
  4. PRIMING Hard to believe I finally made it to the priming stage – it’s been a long journey and of course I would still need to cross a few more bridges; how right I was. I quickly discovered the two bottles of my preferred primer, MRP Light Gray, were virtually empty and I didn’t want to prime with MRP Black Primer on hand, or so I thought. I would selectively prime a few sub-assemblies with the few drops light gray I actually had and then wait for my reorder to arrive. Friday the new MRP primer was delivered and the color was gray and not light gray (?). The primer seemed a bit thicker then normal in the color cup and I incorrectly assumed it was from the color. I thinned out the MRP Primer with Self Leveling Thinners and everything instantly turned into a sludgy mud. Only now did the light go on, I doubled checked the actual product number MRP- APG: acrylic thinner; I ordered the wrong primer- what an idiot! And of course, what a disaster. A good hour was needed to strip and clean the air brush and in the end, I primed the 109 with what I always had and didn’t want to use: MRP Black Lacquer Primer. I wasted a good five days waiting for primer I couldn’t use. Live and learn. I wrote down next to each part and assembly the RLM number ZM called out in the instructions, so I would be ready for the color coats coming up next. Of course, as the week progressed, it was time now to face the music and I could no longer sit at the bench and work, as we had our appointment with my oncologist to review the pathology report from my lung biopsies: cancer free. 5. Gaz Nice start on the Revell 190. Front office and IP weathering looks good.
  6. Rob Right with Dennis X2 - awesome work What a fantastic build.
  7. Gaz Got ya. I'm very lucky in that my studio/cave is a rather large size room and my work bench is a 30 x 72, dedicated to just building. The spray booth is on a roller cart so it doesn't take up any bench space. Just seems the older we get; senior moments and CRS do settle in more and more.
  8. John, you are amazing and your 109 looks fantastic. Peter
  9. John Amazing progress and looking so good.
  10. Kev Hoping you are feeling better and in a day or so, will be back to your old self.
  11. Guess I spoke too soon based on what I saw in the video.
  12. Thanks Martin Excellent points for sure. I'm pretty easy when it comes to a lot of the details and just can't understand why they do not include any interior part color call outs.
  13. Thanks John, same with the Lancaster - something they need to get their act together on
  14. A pre-release Andy's Hobby Shop video of the soon to be released Border Models 1/35 FW190A-6 and the kit looks gorgeous. Great looking front office, engine bay and detail also look tremendous as well and a complete lack (thank goodness) of hidden, never to be seen detail. I know the comments on it's the wrong scale will be flying all over the place, but it doesn't bother me one bit. The only thing that does concern me is the instructions, (watching the video and I can be wrong), is a complete lack of color call outs during construction, as only the exterior color profiles are dealt with. Just a quick note and quick comparison: One common point with their Lancaster kit, which I'm getting ready to build later this summer: lack of color callouts with the interior parts during construction and just way too complicated of a kit not to have them. Kotare Spitfire - part design, execution and level of detail is almost a scary resemblance to the Lancaster (of course, they were both designed and executed from the old WNW Team - the family heritage can so easily be seen. But the instructions: WOW, beyond first class and a mirror image of WNW. Getting back to my original thought on Border Instructions: why are they again lacking in interior color callouts, such as WNW, Kotare and Tamiya? Absolutely will be buying this kit. .
  15. Thanks Gaz, makes perfect sense but for a senior sometimes just remembering where he put the current build on the bench can be a task to deal with. Last year for the Ukranian GB I built the Revell Embraer 190 and at the same time it shared the bench with the Meng Ford GT40 and Found it took a while to get back in the groove for which ever kit, I was working on. Just wish, at this stage of the game, I had your mechanical abilities to alternate between kits.
  16. Yup, scribing is a mysterious art for me and one of the quickest ways of advancing a model to be a permanent resident of the SOD.
  17. John Looking mighty good and so glad you are making both excellent progress on the 109 and thinning out the SOD residents.
  18. Gaz Three other additional builds at the same time .. now that's really concentrating on the kit at hand and way beyond my powers of concentration.
  19. Just catching up and looking so good through the decal stage of the build. Amazing detail and terrific work in 1/72 scale, where I would struggle these days with my eyesight.
  20. Gaz Great save and so glad you are sharing it with us.
  21. Kev Awesome build and display.🏆
  22. Scott Nice progress on the Big Tomcat and going slowly surely assures the alignment will be straight as an arrow - just takes time.
