Kev Hoping you are feeling better and in a day or so, will be back to your old self. -
Guess I spoke too soon based on what I saw in the video.

Thanks Martin Excellent points for sure. I'm pretty easy when it comes to a lot of the details and just can't understand why they do not include any interior part color call outs.
-
Thanks John, same with the Lancaster - something they need to get their act together on

A pre-release Andy's Hobby Shop video of the soon to be released Border Models 1/35 FW190A-6 and the kit looks gorgeous. Great looking front office, engine bay and detail also look tremendous as well and a complete lack (thank goodness) of hidden, never to be seen detail. I know the comments on it's the wrong scale will be flying all over the place, but it doesn't bother me one bit. The only thing that does concern me is the instructions, (watching the video and I can be wrong), is a complete lack of color call outs during construction, as only the exterior color profiles are dealt with. Just a quick note and quick comparison: One common point with their Lancaster kit, which I'm getting ready to build later this summer: lack of color callouts with the interior parts during construction and just way too complicated of a kit not to have them. Kotare Spitfire - part design, execution and level of detail is almost a scary resemblance to the Lancaster (of course, they were both designed and executed from the old WNW Team - the family heritage can so easily be seen. But the instructions: WOW, beyond first class and a mirror image of WNW. Getting back to my original thought on Border Instructions: why are they again lacking in interior color callouts, such as WNW, Kotare and Tamiya? Absolutely will be buying this kit. .

Clear the Bench! It's Kotare Spitfire time!

Thanks Gaz, makes perfect sense but for a senior sometimes just remembering where he put the current build on the bench can be a task to deal with. Last year for the Ukranian GB I built the Revell Embraer 190 and at the same time it shared the bench with the Meng Ford GT40 and Found it took a while to get back in the groove for which ever kit, I was working on. Just wish, at this stage of the game, I had your mechanical abilities to alternate between kits. -

Yup, scribing is a mysterious art for me and one of the quickest ways of advancing a model to be a permanent resident of the SOD. -
John Looking mighty good and so glad you are making both excellent progress on the 109 and thinning out the SOD residents.

Gaz Three other additional builds at the same time .. now that's really concentrating on the kit at hand and way beyond my powers of concentration. -

Thanks Sasha , much appreciated. -
Just catching up and looking so good through the decal stage of the build. Amazing detail and terrific work in 1/72 scale, where I would struggle these days with my eyesight.

Gaz Great save and so glad you are sharing it with us. -
Kev Awesome build and display.🏆

Scott Nice work on the office and you did bring up a very intriguing thought: parts being juggled between different runs of the same kit when buying old kits. Never thought about it but it does make a lot of sense. I have to confess, there are days, I hit my studio to work. rarely leave and the PJ's are on all day. Of course, the comfort level is awesome.

Rog, right with Harv, enjoy.

John Just seems getting the colors correct is almost the hardest part of a build these days. Just think back to the old days; we had Practra, Humbrol, Testors and then Model Master. Of course, with no internet for research, you believed what was in the instructions or if you were lucky, you actually had a book to reference. Now it's endless with everyone having the 'correct' answers and none match each other. Peter

Thanks John I've been doing a lot of research all morning and I think the problem is ZM's instructions have too much green mixed in the printed colors. All my research shows the actual color scheme colors should be: RLM 76 Light Blue RLM 74 Dark Gray RLM 75 Gray I'm ditching the color callouts in the instructions which now seem to be wrong. And finally, as luck would have it, I have all the colors in my MRP Paint Stash!

This is my first Bf 109 build and am finding ZM's color painting guide for Hartmann's aircraft somewhat confusing and not that correct as I keep researching the colors. The color callouts for the undersides are RLM 65 (research showed it should be RLM 76.) ZM intermixes the actual name for the blues as either Light Blue RLM 76 or Pale Blue RLM 65. Then moving on to the fuselage sides, it seems the background color is the lower wing color which should be RLM 76 and not RLM 65. Side mottling is going to be RLM74 & RLM 75, which are also the upper wing cammo colors. From what I've read, the classic Luftwaffe colors are RLM 74, 75 76 and I'm going to go with i - way too confusing. As a side note, in research all the colors, I couldn't believe how many different colors/hues of RLM 02 there are - it's almost as many as Olive Drab🧐 I'm getting ready to prime and do the final checking. I should have sorted this out much sooner but just assumed ZM's painting instructions would be as thorough and clear, as they looked good. Lots of stencil and decal placement information but I'm lost with the actual colors. I posted my question before finishing my research this morning and have gone back and edited my original questions. I'm pretty sure what really led me down the wrong path was the printed color guide in the instructions have too much green tint to them and throws off the actual colors especially for a newbie like me to Luftwaffe aircraft. Thank You
