  1. Ernie Thank goodness you kept looking and found the Britmodeler build. I feel your frustrations and the helldiver is putting you to the test. Hopefully after the bomb bay issues are sorted out, the worst is over and progress will be without frustration.
  2. Ernie Right with you on 'pinning this thread' A nice thank you to Paul Fisher for the models he created.
  3. Gaz - Thank you for the kind comments - has to ne a good number of years since I built the Sea Fury - so far my first and only resin kit.
  4. Holy Smokes, I get to correct Hubert for the very first time and most like won't happen again: Robert Conrad played Pappy Boyington
  5. Kev Awesome and I already have an advanced ticket for the front row
  6. Martin That's a pretty novel ideas and I never heard of any GB using it but there are a lot of possibilities I can think of. Of course, most are in the other scales I build.
  7. Bill Got ya, so if I understand it correctly, the AM decals are NG and need to be replaced.
  8. Bill Same on them ... Are you going to use them as a mask or go for a AM set of decals?
  9. Scott I would be on the Quinta side of the fence being correct as their cockpit sets seem to be right on the money. Front office details look mighty good.
  10. Bill Looking good and you're in the home stretch now. Did the wing walk decals peel or are you using them as masks?
  11. My Holy grail kits since finding modeling back in the early seventies: Revell's 1/32 Spitfire MK1a and 1/32 Hurricane Mk1a, both are in the stash and will be building them someday. Many years ago, I saw them built up as a lightly weathered pair on display at the retail Squadron Shop in Syosset, NY and that helped set the hook for modeling again.
  12. Ernie Yikes, down with the flu and sick as can be - now that's as nasty as can be. (secret get well potion) Fingers crossed you're over the worst and starting to feel better and better each day. Just rest and feel better, the helldiver and Corsair can wait. Nice work on working the Helldivers fuselage halves together and when needed, industrial clamping is the way to go. Just think, you have crossed the first milestone of the build with the fuselage glued up and no it's clean up and seam filling time. I'm still doing just that on the Whirlwind fuselage and wings - treating them as separate models until the all the filling and sanding is done - oh what fun. Just take care of yourself and get well.
  13. Bill Nice way to move your cave for the winter and a great build project.
  14. Phil it's taking a lot of restraint and I haven't even opened up the box yet, as I don't trust myself, but I need to finish the Whirlwind before starting anything new.
  15. Ernie This was the first GB I participated in a very long time and actually enjoyed building a kit I most likely wouldn't have built otherwise. Some ideas for future GB's: Fighters of WWII Battle of Britian Between the War Years
  16. Gaz Got it. Can't believe you remembered that.
  17. Scott One beautiful Cougar - awesome work. The jewel in my collection is the Fisher Sea Fury.
