  1. Gaz The engine barer as well as the entire assembly with the cockpit lots so good and nicely detailed. Glad you are tackling the wings now as I'm always suspect as how well the outer panels will fit - will it be as if the wing skin is a solid piece with perfect panel lines or roadblocks ahead. I'm always suspect of this type of construction and always have had troubles in the past with various kits. Even access/movable panels never seem to fit well (except Tamiya) Looking forward to how your wing assembly goes.
  2. Gaz Completely agree and after an early happy hour as well.
  3. Thanks Gaz for the insight. Just seems ZM should have done a better job on that wiring so that all the parts would be of the same detail
  4. Martin I have no idea how I missed this post - has to be a senior moment. Absolutely topflight work and the weather is brilliantly done.
  5. Martin, nice work for sure and I'm sure your daughter loved it. A wonderful addition to her collection.
  6. Thanks John, getting ready to finish the few small items I found after priming and then it's cammo time.
  7. Absolutely is and welcome aboard.
  8. Gaz Nice work on the cockpit and IP - detail painting and weathering look mighty good. I've made a note to 'clean up' the wiring you pointed out under the red bracket when I get going on my 109 i just doesn't look right the way ZM molded the part (wires).
  9. Thanks Martin as I had no idea meng was introducing the F4-G. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find any reviews.
  10. Carl Way to go. Enjoy Peter
  11. Thanks Mike, much appreciated. Can't wait to finally reach the paint shop portion of the build.
  12. Thanks Carl and good decision for sure
  13. PRIMING – DONE Priming is complete and went a lot better then I had thought it would. There are just two small seams and two small sanding marks and that’s it – talk about a complete reversal of how the build had been going. Finishing pre-painting touch ups tomorrow and then it’s off to the paint shop. The Whirlwind with her long slender wings, certainly could be a forerunner of things to come: The Lockheed Dragon Lady. With so little actual work done and only needing two photographs, setting up for my usual photo procedure wasn’t in the cards and my iPhone substituted just fine.
  14. Bill Terrific build on Tamiya's Zero. Fit and finish are spot on.
  15. Scott I'm willing to bet when Trumpeter re-issues the kit, Quinta will jump all over it
  16. Kotare Spitfire Check out their website: Kotare Models | High Quality Scale Model Kitsets (kotare-models.com) The instructions are posted, look very similar to ZM's style and the kit details look amazing. MSRP: $109 Can't wait to buy mine and hit the bench running.
  17. Bill Fantastic progress .. Your Big Cat looks so good and you well into the home stretch.
  18. John Looks perfect! Awesome work.
  19. Ernie I've seen the Snowbirds twice and what a show. The Tudor is the perfect size for a 32nd scale jet. and I would easily be in for one.
  20. Scott, can never hurt to ask but my guess would be until Trumpeter releases the kit, Quinta most likely might feel the market isn't strong enough for offering a 3D set for the T-28 right now.
  21. Rob You're flying through the build and the Lancia is looking so good. Priming is as smooth as silk and a great idea priming the lid and having a test bed for the camo to practice on. Being able to add the MGs after painting as is huge plus for sure.
  22. Bill My vote these days is always to go the route of 3D cockpit Decal Sets. There isn't any way a kit manufacturer can come close with an injected molded IP and side consoles. My guess is, down the not to far distant future, kit manufactures might be offering them as part of the kit, just as PE is.
  23. HI Bill, thank you for the tips. I've tried using Extra Thin for removing glue on parts a few times and it did work but the noise had four solid plastic shims added in the inside faces and there was no way for the Extra Thin to actually reach those glue faces. I do use a needle in a Pin Vise to help locate the center holes and my success rate is still pretty low and always takes a long time and multiple attempts to get close.
  24. M Ike Agreed, they are climbing in cost and they work for most modeling but large ships most likely require a different type of paint booth or even just large extractor fans in a room with the door closed when in use plus a good respirator. As far as the fan and motor go, there was a lot of discussion about what motors/fans systems are safe to be used with solvent paints, as the general consensus was, most aren't and care needs to be taken. How true this actually is, I still on the fence about it.
  25. Thanks Rob for the very kind words on my progress. No question, the Whirlwind's long thin wings is so like that of a sailplane or even the U2 Dragon Lady. Strange looking in appearance, yet still has some good looks. Nice modification on your spray booth, as I find mine getting tighter and tighter as the builds seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Lately I've been thinking it's time to buy a second flexible vent hose from Micro Mart and hook up the Artograph 1530, which has two extractor motors and needs the two vent hoses. I never leave the vent hose in the window and only hook it up when painting. See how it goes and I'm also thinking about your modification.
