  1. John it's a hill I wouldn't even think of climbing and I'm still waiting for some brave manufacturer to do a correct P-51B!
  2. Scott, Nice progress on the Texan and she does look mighty good at this stage of the build. "This was a major pain. Wings go together with obvious gaps" ... one of the reasons KH is no longer in the game.
  3. Chris, it just might work and I was also thinking that dampening the backing with white glue would soften it enough to bend the seatbelts as desired. Something I am going to try down the road
  4. John Go slow and take your time. You have a lot more patience then I do.
  5. Mark Some mighty nice work: chassis and axels assembly look perfect.
  6. Hi John From the photograph, the Trumpy nose does look a bit pointy and the Tamiya nose a much better look. Completely agree it's going to take a lot of work: sanding and filling to blend all the sections together. My money is riding on you pulling it off. Will be following all the way
  7. Thanks Ernie I'm already buying what I need - completely new ground. Just hope I don't confuse it with a Jersey Mikes or Subway Sub 👨‍🍳
  8. Ernie .. Perfect and I'm in. Is any 1/350 ship OK or does the type of ship dictate the scale? I wanted to build a 1/350 USS Gato (10.7 in) and the size is manageable. I also found the sub available from Trumpeter in 1/144 scale but it's close to 26 inches in length and way too large for my spray booth. I'm very careful these days about paint fumes, wear a respirator and always paint inside the confines of my paint booth. Since cancer and chemo, I have to be extra vigilant.
  9. Ernie Makes perfect sense, now that you explained it. Oh, wouldn't I do cartwheels (at 75 that's nearly impossible) for a P-38, P-39 and a P-47 done ZM way.
  10. Rog Nice decision for jumping on 48th scale for jets, as I've also done the same. I've been collecting ZM's F4's, built the incredible Tamiya F4B and my stash is continuously growing in that grouping. Looking forward to following your upcoming ZM F4 build, hopefully not too far down the road.
  11. Bill Never would have thought and thanks for the warning and what to lookout for.
  12. Chris Thanks for posting your Me 262-B1. Neat, clean work and it's right up my alley for sure. Front office details look good and I have to agree about the decal seatbelts. I was thinking that in the future I was going to give decal seatbelts a try and need to build up the thickness for a better 3D effect, I'll try gluing on them with the paper backing still on. Paint work and weathering on the wings looks spot on the money. Will be following for the balance of the journey
  13. Ernie Martin's production detail photos are gems of detailing information and should help fill in the missing detail info.
  14. Gaz Nice start on the DB and the engine does look really good and detailed. How are you planning on painting the assembly or is the engine just being test fitted to the engine mounts? I've always felt that about ZM's kits, as some of the details seem rather silly - such as the pistons.
  15. Hi Gaz I saw he same and bought a set of Airscale Luftwaffe Seatbelts - never used then so I thought I would give them a try.
  16. Ernie Well said and appreciate all the hard work you do. I'm in for the WET GB theme if that's the decision. Any chance of pushing the start date to December 1st as I have one more 32nd scale build I can't wait to start and get going on?
  17. Thanks Ernie, it sure was close to becoming a Shelf Queen but way too much work to not forge ahead and finish. Its fun being the first but oh those pitfalls. I'm starting the final sanding, masking and prep work over the next few days and then hopefully priming. 🤞
  18. Hubert Prety cool idea - looking forward to your build
  19. Thanks Carl but at this stage of the game, I'll stick with the kit ones. I spent a good amount of time this morning sanding, scraping and removing the mold seams. They aren't perfect but look a lot better.
  20. Scott, I sure hope this isn't an indication of things to come.
  21. Martin A build thread please ... I'm planning a few heavies next year and the Fortress would be one of them.
  22. Bill Nice going and I'm planning on building mine right after I finish the Whirlwind. Gaz is just starting his.
  23. Thanks Carl I did look at them before starting but resin has its own issues and I'm sure a mold line as well. The other big disadvantage of small resin parts, they would be a much more brittle and prone to breaking, as I keep banging the nose and wing tips - the Whirlwind is a big model for me.
  24. Thanks Gaz. I'm just glad the repair is done and I'm almost ready not for priming after the past few days of work. No metal barrels at all, just a resin set that would have the same type of molding seams. The macro pics do make the mold lines jump out and I'll work on them as best as I can before priming. Yup, they sure are ugly
  25. Gaz Awesome weathering - at first, I wasn't sure if it was the model or the real deal!
