  1. Kev Looking mighty good … all the blending has certainly achieved your goal. Keep ‘em comin Peter
  2. Rob What a modeling achievement; she is quickly becoming a show stopper and all the hard work, effort and sweat have paid off handsomely. The small 18ft cutter certainly will add even more eye catching details to the deck (which is brilliantly detailed already) and will quickly catch the views eye, as in a well composed photograph. Looking forward to the start of the cutter. Keep ‘em comin Peter
  3. Carl Looking mighty good and a perfect plan. In between builds or even in between stages, I’m now putting small parts and assemblies in plastic containers with lids and labeling the container, so I don’t keep losing parts. At 74, it’s easy to lose anything Keep ‘em comin Peter
  4. Mark Awesome choice and I'll be following all the way Keep 'em comin Peter
  5. Carl Looking mighty good. I'm hoping once done, it's back to the B-24. Keep 'em comin Peter
  6. John Got ya - we're the same age I believe me I know. Keep 'em comin Peter
  7. Gaz Awesome work on the tools - the details are looking so good. Keep 'em comin Peter
  8. Kev Looks spot on, as the pre-shading does it job perfectly - bringing out the details with just the right touch. Keep 'em comin Peter
  9. Rob Much appreciated. Took a bit of extra work to get to this point and I'm hoping from this point on it's downhill to the finish line. Once she is done and in the books, I'll need to finish the GT40 which isn't too far either from the finish line and then I feel the call of a 32nd scale aircraft kit. Thanks for the positive thoughts on Life Color paints - if needed, nothing now to worry about. Keep 'em comin Peter
  10. John For most of us building at your pace would be amazing but for you it's business as usual. Some mighty nice progress. Keep 'em comin Peter
  11. Sasha Fantastic build; from the detailing to a perfect NMF ... outstanding work. Keep 'em comin Peter
  12. Rob Brilliant, simply awesome work. All the time spent on the details and canons, have easily paid huge dividends. Every update is a gem. Keep 'em comin Peter
  13. Kai Right with Gus and Kev, your wheel wells are looking amazing. Keep 'em comin Peter
  14. Gaz Right with the Guys, your detailing, tools and PE work look amazing. The negative aspect of closeup/macro work is you see details in a very unrealistic way. Your photographs of an area (back deck) show just how good everything really looks. And of course, I completely agree about parts hanging on in place magically - your solution is prefect. Keep 'em comin Peter
  15. John One good looking recovery - rudder looks better then new Keep 'em comin Peter
  16. John Maybe spring cleaning or just getting outside for the first time in many months? I've only started working on my GB build again as our home renovation is nearing completion and finally there is actually time to build again. Keep 'em comin Peter
  17. Thanks Martin for the heads up ... I'm starting to take a liking to these types of kits and building a few a year would be a boat load of fun. Keep 'em comin Peter
  18. Ernie You're not alone in the disappearing part department. I've lost a few parts over the past few years, putting them down on the bench during a work session and after a few hours - going back for them, only to be amazed I couldn't find them. I credited the carpet monster with being extra hungry. Now that's the way to tech aeronautics and I'm sure a budding pilot or engineer in the makings. Keep 'em comin Peter
  19. Hubert So glad that the tramcar build is proving to be so enjoyable, as that's what the hobby should be all about. Keep 'em comin Peter
  20. kev Nice progress and the weathering is looking just fine. I fully agree with Rob that when finished with the markings and additional weathering, everything will blend together. Keep 'em comin Peter
  21. Thanks Mike Making slow progress as we're in the very last stages of our renovation and the cleanup and unpacking is also underway. Keep 'em comin Peter
  22. PRIMING and COLORCOATS Finally reached the point of being ready for the initially priming; MRP Light Gray, with the major goal of finding missed gaps, sanding marks and any assorted errors and I’m proud to say; I found them. Out came Mr Surfacer, Tamiya Filler again and back to work. Looking pretty good now and all the imperfections I found were cleaned up and gone. A few more layers of primer to cover the corrected areas and it was time for the color coats. The windows came out ok, not perfect and since I’m using decals for all the glass, the small imperfections will help locate the window and windshield decals. I decided on Mr Color Gloss Lacquers for all color coats. First up was the wings and the aftermarket decals by BOA instructions call out FS 16492 Gray and of course, I didn’t have the color in my paint stash, I mixed the color and it matched the paint chip and color on my monitor. I have a BenQ photographic monitor that is color calibrated weekly so what I saw on the monitor was very close to the actual color. I couldn’t find any useable photographs of the upper wing surfaces for this specific aircraft and referring to the BOA instructions the upper and bottom surfaces of the wings were the same color gray, except for the leading ledges. Other Embraer’s in UIA markings wore a different color scheme and the wings were painted in a more traditional manor with the center area being a darker gray, which most modelers refer to as correguard. Next up was masking out the leading edges: Alclad Polished Aluminum and it replicated the polished looked quite nicely. I gave each paint color a good 24 hours to dry to be on the safe side. Finally, I re-masked the wings again and prepped the fuselage. Paint of choice: Mr Color Gloss White thinned with Self Leveling Thinners and a few drops of Mild Retarder was added to the mix, to ensure the paint would flow and self-level, leaving a wonderful smooth surface, so I can decal right just as auto modelers do. Locating the correct blue turned out to be a hunt as usual, as the BOA decal instructions calls out for FS15052, which I could only find here in the States only in the Life Color range. It’s in the paint stash now just in case I need it for a touchup/backup. Next up: decaling and working on the engines, pylons and the gear. Keep ‘em comin Peter
  23. Thanks Hubert for the explanation - much appreciated. I jumped the gun and was looking at the photographs when the canon rigging was not complete. In Robs latest photographs, everything falls into place and looks so natural.gun Keep 'em comin Peter
  24. Thanks Rob I should have read Martin's link and waited for the latest set of photographs, which have the finished rope positions. They look perfect and natural. . Keep 'em comin Peter
