Actually, after careful analysis, the anvil is a bit under scale and needs to be made larger for the full effect. 😉

Kriss Looking mighty good as the scratch details already are raising the bar. -
John Good decision for sure.
-
Carl Nice find and a good price - less then SB.

ANYZ order arrived the other day and at first look, mighty nice. More then the details parts which are for the Devastator build this winter as I'm slowly collecting lots of detail sets, is the Precision tweezers; can't wait to give them a try.

Kriss Nice progress and detailing for the fuselage interior - surely is going to look mighty busy. -
John Why on a temp hold? I've been working on the Eduard 1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat Profipack kit - has some strange assembly sequences and then some. I always try to by the ProfPack versions as they come with a lot of extra detail sets: PE, resin and a mask set.

Smitty Agreed.

P-51B Conversion #2 completed
Peterpools replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
John One awesome conversion, as your P-51B looks flawless. Thanks for the heads up when using Kagero decals, as it's a pain when decals behave that way and seem to fight you the whole way. Surely must have felt a little strange using so many acrylics rather then going all enamels. 🏆 🏆🏆 -
Nice going John, you surely put the new compressor to good use right off the bat.

Thanks Rob, much appreciated. I've tried so many different methods of doing hard edge cammo over the years and for me while tedious and very time consuming, my Tamiya tape method seems to work the best. When I have a choice, I prefer going soft edge/free hand - faster and a lot less tedious. Thanks for the idea of using Kabuki sheet and a rotating cutting - going to give it a try down the road. -

Kriss Awesome choice for your next build and the paint scheme is going to surely look the part. Will be along for the entire journey. -
Oliver - the photograph is a goldmine and I fully agree about the toolbox being a terrific element to add to the dio.

Thanks John I was a bit nervous I would have a lot of leakers but was pretty lucky and there were none that I see. Of course, at 76, my eyes aren't that sharp. Getting ready for the clear gloss and then fun time: decaling. -

Thanks Carl, much appreciated. Can't believe all the slow/go cammo masking paid of with no go backs needed. Surely a record for me. -

CAMMO IS COMPLETED After countless hours of masking, it was time to air brush on the RAF Dark Green and true to form, my decision of paint color had changed. I wasn’t happy at this stage with using my original choice of XF89 RAF Green (pale) and I didn’t have any XF81 in the paint stash. I finally settled on AK Real Colors RAF Dark Green RC286. When all the masking was removed, I didn’t see any go backs – talk about Lady Luck riding with me. I finally managed to break off the small antenna at the top of the vertical stabilizer and will hold off adding it until the end of the build. The spacing between the prop back plate the fuselage will need to be reduced; just sitting ther for the photographs.- 87 replies
