  1. A bit too political for a modelling forum, no ? Hubert
  2. I think the proper expression in this case is « whatever floats your boat » Hubert
  3. Well, the theme suggested by Martin is not only about flying boats and seaplanes, but, if you wonder, there are a number of those in 1/32, whether injected, resin or vacform. Just to name a few, out of memory, and I am sure I am forgetting a few ... : Injected plastic : Revell Arado 196, both the A and B versions; Piper Pa-18-150, Ex-Matchbox Tiger Moth Trumpeter 1/24 Spifire Mk V on floats There is also a 1/24 Beaver from a manufacturer I do not remember of There is a Rufe conversion for the A6M-2 WnW's HB W-29 and W-12, Flexstowe F2 Roden Piper L-19 on floats Doyusha Type 93 Akatombo Kitty Hawk Kingfisher and, of course, you have all the Navy types, which, one day or another, had their feet wet, whether with props, jets or helos... In resin : The collection of Marsh Models/Aerotech Schneider Trophy Seaplens and floatplanes is significant : Supermarine S4, S5, S6, S6b, Macchi M-39, M-52, M-67, MC-72, Gloster VI, Savoia-Marchetti S-65, Long OOP and rare as a Hen's teeth, Essdale Supermarine S6b and Macchi MC-72 Brach Model Macchi MC-72 and Savoia S-33 HPH Catalina, Macchi M-5, Supermarine Walrus (OOP). IIRC, they also did a Letov 328 on floats ... Lukgraph Hansa Brandenburg typ NV, Friedrichshafen FF.33, Spowith Baby, Curtiss F6-C3 on floats Silver Wings Heinkel He-51 on floats XS models Curtiss R3C on floats Vacform : Tigger Shorts Sunderland Combat Models Sikorsky S-39 ... I am sure this list is short of a few, if only when one adds the paper models Hubert
  4. Actually, Hobbycraft made an -A version, with the Allison engine, Gary. Or, if it is claimed to be a -B, it may be a reboxed Trumpeter kit, in which case the accuracy is … « trumpetesque » (see John’s thread on grafting a new nose on the kit) Hubert
  5. I have so many seaplanes and flying boats in the stash that it’s going to take me a few weeks just to decide…And then, there is also the S-39 project I could resurrect, especially now that I have a 3D printer for some parts … Mmmmh … Hubert
  6. For me, for large ships, 1/700 is equivalent to 1/72 for aircrafts, 1/350 to 1/48 and 1/200 to 1/32. As for other ships, like sailing ships and small boats, I'd go for anything from 1/72 and above ... Just my Hubert
  7. I have found the perfect solution for my build of the Whirlwind, thanks to my « no-camo » idiosyncrasy : G-AGOI, the civilian airframe kept by Westland after the war had no guns Hubert.
  8. It must have been a tremendous experience 👍 ! Good for you, and I suppose vey motivating for your build. Keep it going Hubert
  9. Congratulations on a GREAT result, Bertl 👍 ! Hubert
  10. I know some guys who design and 3D print things like parts, radial engines, … or even a full airframe Hubert
  11. Looking good John. Btw, « management issues » seems a synonymous acronym for Brewster. The key reason, plus a funky U/C design for a carrier-based fighter, for the failure of the Buffalo. Hubert
  12. Welcome on LSM, Scott, and, like Martin, I was impressed by your work when I saw it on LSP. I hope you are aware that one of the biggest drawbacks f the Trumpeter Wildcat is the wrong inclination of the firewall at the rear of the wheel-well opening. For perfect accuracy - and you are manifestly striving for it, you need to incline it, and that then implies moving the wheel opening forward. IIRC, Alain Gadbois did and showed this mod on LSP. Looking forward to see more from you Hubert
  13. Actually, all « Gs » were officially rebuilt from earlier marks/airframes … And that was official, not warbird DYI … Hubert
  14. 😂 Talk about mind confusion … I thought Robert Conrad and wrote Richard Wagner … Thanks for pointing out my mistake, and apologies to John for the thread drift … Hubert
  15. Yes, I quite love the idea too. I can already think of possible options. Hubert
  16. WOW ! Hubert PS: and in the right scale for warships, on top 👍
  17. Don’t forget a figure of Richard Wagner to have a 1/32 « Baa baa black sheep » Hubert
  18. I have to say that my holiest of all were actually done by Fisher, and Lukgraph, and luckily I got most of them. Then there was the DC-3 on my Holy Quest list, thank you HPH. So, missing in my Quest are still two I hope to see before my modelling days are over : a Ford Trimotor, and a B-58 … Hubert
  19. Calgary has its chance then 😂 Hubert
  20. I have written it many times already, but, OOB, KH’s Texan is good only to represent « Deb », the warbird on the box cover. « Deb » itself, like so many warbirds is hodgepodge of versions, and not representative, or only vaguely, of any specific T-6 version. The KH kit is not bad, although with some inaccuracies, that most people can live with. The only glaring one is the wheelbase, too narrow by a few mm, but that is easy to correct by removing the MLG gluing recess in the wings, and the moving them outboard. Keep going, Scott Hubert
  21. I have mixed feelings about GBs: 1) My record at finishing anything in a GB is simply 0. So that does not augur well for my participation in any one. 2) On the other hand, provided the subject is within my realm of interest, I enjoy participating, and they push me into subjects I would never had thought about begore, like the Japanese GB on LSP: I did not finish it but actually started my scratchbuilt "Hansa" for it. And the Ukraine GB here: I would never have bought a tram kit without this incentive. And I really enjoyed it ! I did not finish in time because all my modelling has been stalled in the last 2 months as I prioritised other life matters, but I will finsh it, one day. Would I participate in another GB ? Most likely, depending on the subject. Some ideas that could appeal to me and hopefully to others: The first 20 years of jets. From the "Great one" to WWII: 20 years that changed aviation. 80 to 800 km/hour (or 800 to 8000 km/h ) Hubert
