You kids with your crazy ideas about what the 60's were like...

Is it possible, and this is off the top of my head without knowing any stats on this Panther, that it was part of a batch being finished up when the order to cease applying zimmerit came through? They had started the process, and since zimmerit was no longer a requirement chose to field some semi-completed Panthers rather than waste time on applying more paste? That it something I would do if there were no objections from higher up, for the sake of expedience.

Is there a link to the discussion on the zimmerit? I have tried searching it and none of the articles I've found so far about this Panther are mentioning it being ridgeless. When I look at the pics I feel I can see some type of pattern (especially on the turret) but the pics aren't clear or close enough to the vehicle for me to be 100%.

Clunk, Is that your wife's car? I ask because of all the crap on the floor, which is indicative of a woman's car. Or at least it is in my wife and coworkers' cases. Same is true of college dorms. Apparently all knowledge of closets, hangers, and drawers is blocked during enrollment.

I work in education, and it is all true.

I can smell horseradish pretty well, I think. Not a big fan of that either; likely because it just wasn't around when I was growing up. My grandmother was into sweet slaws and such. I can tell it has an edge to it, but the actual smell as opposed to the burn puts me off. I also don't do bitter things. Coffee always smells like burning plant oils to me; which once was a point of irony for me when I rotated to café manager as part of my general management training when I worked for Borders Books. It's hard to recommend an item you don't take part in, but hey training has to train, right? But regarding wasabi--my wife gets sushi on a fairly regular basis and even if storage is an issue, I would hope that I got a good batch at least once or there are going to be questions. As far as chilies go, I've had a wide variety in both mouth and eyes, so I can handle the heat. -

I don't know why but wasabi in my mouth just feels like grainy green toothpaste. I don't sense any heat at all, but I eat all types of chili peppers and I feel that just fine. -
I have a ton of Dragon kits and I agree with this. Between RFM, Meng, and Takom the Tiger and Panther lines are entering the new century. Once momentum gains on other companies venturing into the smaller panzers and someone takes on the APCs/AFVs to a greater extent, Dragon will become as much a myth as a 'real' dragon.

1/32 PZL P.11c supposedly coming in 2020 from IBG Models

It's the transition form between bi- and monoplane in a way. Proof of evolution. -
I found this Tiger info, maybe of some use??

You're right; my bad. I had been talking about IBG and new Russian subjects earlier today and just carried it over in my mind when I read about this kit. -
I don't do Darpabook.

Supposedly the Russians want to make their own version of the series which portrays the government in a better light, and focuses on a possible U.S. spy being present at the time. Thus, they shift focus from the plight and bravery of the workers at Chernobyl to the efforts of the Soviet Intelligence to thwart the activities of the Americans to steal Russian secrets. What a surprise. Not sure what they hope to accomplish by this; are they trying to imply we caused it somehow? Maybe Chekhov and Uhura were there looking for a nuclear wessel so they could collect neutrinos?

I am actually in the middle of building one of their I-16s, and it's a nice kit but (and I chalk this entirely up to not being more than passing familiar with the variants) all the different subtypes look very similar. But then again, so did the VW Beetle from 1946 to 1979 pretty much and I am nuts about vintage VWs, so help yourself to an extra grain when taking what I say. -
No pic of the actual thing as I can't have it until Father's Day, but I somehow managed to talk my wife into letting me use a HobbyTown coupon on the Bandai Star Wars 1/72 B-Wing fighter SDCC release with the included engine lighting. Now I can cheat and use that as my entry in the Bandai Star Wars campaign at Armorama instead of the Y-Wing with the AM lighting kit that requires drilling and soldering and thus more time. I have three other builds to complete at the same time, so yeah, I'm going snap-together on this one. If only it was bright orange plastic like those Monogram Funny Cars.

It certainly isn't high on my to-do list but I wouldn't say no if you handed the kit to me right now. As there isn't a huge amount of Russian aircraft in 1/32 once you subtract the variants of the existing stuff like the 200 different I-16 kits ICM has boxed so far, I would likely buy one eventually just to have another Russian plane so they don't feel outnumbered by the Japanese and Germans. At the moment, however, I would like to see more Italian and non-fighter Japanese subjects but IBG don't do that and my sadness is not their problem. But they could do a Pe-2 or -3 in 1/32, and if they want my money they better get on it muy rápido. Maybe if I buy enough P.11's they can fund the tooling? -

Yeah, I don't live anywhere the water anymore (closer to Hell, these days or at least it feels so) but I grew up on the Gulf Coast and barracuda were our thing although I personally fished from the shore or off a pier. Shark are popular here, too. If I'd had a boat back then I can't say I would like any large fish jumping up into it with me, be it wahoo or barracuda. Same as I wouldn't want a deer crashing into a hunting blind with me. To be honest, I have never eaten tuna outside of the solid albacore packed in water sold in any grocery store. I grew up Southern Gulf Coast-style and somehow frying what is posted in the pic above and serving it with tartar sauce and hushpuppies seems rude. My wife, however, has eaten yellowfin steaks and liked them but will not eat my tuna salad or casserole. I will eat fried flounder and grouper all day long so I guess that reveals my lack of sophistication regarding fine seafood. But I ask you, who here has not put a fish stick in their mouth? Don't fish sticks taste good? -

That's one of the beauties of kits: If something doesn't seem quite right, there isn't really anything stopping you from going back and touching it up or even doing it over. It just depends on how bold you are. I'm sure some of us have something we've popped a little extra paint on months after we thought it was done; I have some armor I went back and refined the overspray left by my earlier, cheaper airbrush. Might even throw whitewash on a few this winter, who knows? I'd do it to my aircraft if they didn't have all those stupid pitot tubes, antenna, radar, and other idiocy sticking out all over and breaking off if you stare at it too hard on them. -

Crazy how it looks like a barracuda except for a few details. Are they aggressive like barracuda or do they only filet you when attempting to handle them after capture?
