  1. I heard they wait until a kit is generally available before putting individual sprues on sale.
  2. I live in the U.S. and order mostly from overseas.
  3. Stopped at an antique mall in Lavonia, GA, on my way to NYC last week and found this on a shelf of military-themed books: Anyone here familiar with this book? A quick search doesn't turn up a second volume, although from perusing this volume I am not sure what is left to cover. This book is full to the brim with awesome, and nearly makes up for the hellacious four days of driving I did over the weekend which was full of the worst traffic I have seen in years. Only had time to visit the Strand in Manhattan as far as books go, but I never find anything good there.
  4. The rust on mufflers isn't from water/rain; it is primarily heat cooking off the paint and oxidising the metal.
  5. A Liberator and a half-dozen Dragon armor kits, plus some large jars of pigments. Also going shoe shopping during the after-Christmas sales to get a pair of Doc Martens.
  6. Well, what I do in quantity you make up for in quality. This looks to just the way I would expect it to; I can picture it sitting on the tarmac at Pensacola NAS which was on the other side of Pensacola Bay from me during my childhood years.
  7. So, could the mistakes be the fault of the Chinese government's restriction on internet access and HB's ability to research it properly?
  8. I am suspecting the wing issue might be a CAD error in translating the shape. It happens quite a bit. Revell He 219 cowlings, for example.
  9. I don't know if I can say I've ever seen one of those in real life. Good thing about VWs -- like model kits, there is a huge aftermarket and I wasted no time getting an improved sway bar for the front end.
  10. Never had that issue in my bus. However, crosswinds made highways fun.
  11. Please add me to the entrants list.
  12. But at least your diversity is your strength. Celebrate the differences between yourself and that terrorist.
  13. Isn't it nice the government and corporations have us common folk to help them cover their poor budget planning shortfalls?
  14. $2.03 outside Atlanta two days ago. Been slowly going down so don't know if it's different today or leveled off.
  15. Ah, I see it in his sig now. I imagine if I was building for competition or out of a sense of 'must get everything right' things would take muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch longer. Fortunately, my audience just gets confused by all the planes hanging from the ceiling and all the armored thingies on the shelves and ends up running back upstairs for more drinks.
  16. Or maybe too much mercury in the shrimp you guys throw on your barbees.
  17. I absolutely refuse to have anything to do with FB.
  18. Title says it. Been entering a bunch of campaigns at Armorama plus a few things for myself, as I have more time now that I got my grad degree at the end of summer. For the most part all of these are OOB as I tend not to have much patience and want to get these things DONE! Armor is minimally weathered but left in a state where I can add weathering once I decide on how I want to display them permanently. My last post of builds was in August 2017 on that other site: https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/70346-what-ive-been-up-to-since-my-last-build-post/ Done since then: Dragon Kubelwagen ambulance Dragon 6440 15cm s.I.G. 33 (Sfl) Pzkpfw II Trumpeter Dicker Max Dragon 6150 Hummel initial version Dragon 6315 Pzkpfw IV Ausf F Dragon 6746 Flakpanzer IV Ostwind Dragon 6420 Sdkfz 138 Panzerjäger 38 Marder III H Trumpeter F6F-3N Hellcat nightfighter (wing is not permanently attached as you can see) Hasegawa N1K2-J Shiden Kai (yellow stripe not on yet as the decal fought me) What I am working on at the moment: Dragon 28cm K5(e) railway gun 'Leopold' Bandai X-wing with lights Dragon BF 109-E4 ...plus Hasegawa's Oscar and Tojo kits (no pics uploaded yet but they haven't got past the first page of instructions each yet) And future projects through to June (still in box atm): Trumpeter Morser Karl-Gerat 040 Bronco Sdkfz 247 Ausf A armored command car Dragon 6546 2cm Flak 38 late production Tamiya M3 Stuart late production (as a Beutepanzer) Bandai Y-wing with lights Esci Nebelwerfer with crew Dragon 6299 Panther D Trumpeter Pzkpfw IV Ausf E Fahrgestell (ammo carrier for the Karl-Gerat)
  19. Great job for your first tank. Little bit of info, though, if you ever build another Panther: The left-hand exhaust with the three pipes only gets heat rust on the center pipe. The other two are cooling intake pipes and so they don't rust like an exhaust pipe would.
  20. That is one of the lesser evils of the new Battlefield. If you love military history (especially WWII) and enjoy military-themed first person shooter games, avoid the new Battlefield or risk losing your mind and burning out your own eyes with hot pokers. Unless you like the idea of SdKfz 251's driving full speed down a dirt road towing a Flak 38 which is firing at enemy aircraft and taking them down while bouncing around on the hitch, or female British Expeditionary Forces snipers with prosthetic limbs jumping out of windows and executing perfect headshots. And in another attempt to show us uneducated haters that we are ignorant of history, the single-player campaign tells the story of the heroic mother and daughter who destroyed the German heavy water facilities at Telemark. The military's false tale that it was a team of Norwegian commandos was all a lie created by the patriarchy to suppress women. Glad they sorted that out for me; I'm so ignorant of real history and I am glad a video game developer is correcting history's mistakes..
  21. Something kind of related that bugs me is the new Battlefield game set in WWII. In one of the game trailers they show a Brummbar rushing across the field at full speed and firing on the move, as if it was a regular frontline tank. And the game designers had the gall to say disgruntled fans didn't know history and needed to read some books.
  22. Be patient; that will be happening at some future time...
  23. Make me an offer and you can have a whole second one for spares.
  24. And you are still married... That's just crazy.
