Devil 505 - "Feet wet", Trumpeter A-6A

AWesome work. -
Well, thank goodness for that! I figured they were somewhere else in your stash. I'm still missing an upgrade kit for the Mercedes d.III in 1/32 scale that I lost a year ago. My hopes are slim. Re: the railing. Your choice. For me, it would be like the aerial on a 109... it would drive me nuts not to represent it even in a faint form.

Whats your minimum rpm on that thing? -
I know how you feel. I hate to wait on things to do a model. My Spitfire is at a standstill because I won't be doing an in-box scheme. So many ppl wanna do DW-K that there is no way I'll do it. So, since I am waiting, I can't paint because I don't know whether it'll be A or B. Night-White, or sky(or whatever it's called), Dehavilland or Rotol. Patience is not my thing.

Congrats on your biopsy result! Bummer about the paint. We all have an episode or two like that, I imagine. Yesterday I dumped a bottle of citadell wash into my acrylic paint drawer. Which was full of paint bottles. What fun that was to clean up. Black primer looks cool... but covering it with a lighter color will use a lot of paint, i imagine.

Hello boys and girls! I got a great (really great!) deal on this Hasegawa 190. I'd been wanting one for quite a while, and I didn't want to wait to build it. The decals are aged with time... so I'm not certain which scheme I'll give it. Due to the parts available I can make either version. The Nowotny scheme is quite nice, but I tend to gravitate more to the western confrontation. One of the first things I did was thin the sides of the seat... then painted and weathered it. I just used a darker gray wash over the dark gray paint and then painted the cushion. I also did some sponge chipping which doesn't show at all. I also ordered some seat belts from BNA. Likewise, the cockpit tub and IP. After matte coating the parts, I used Five Second fix to put glass lenses over all of the gauges. The Hasegawa decals worked well enough though it took a lake of Mr. Mark Softer to get them to to lay down completely.

There is such a thing out there as partial rendering of the rigging. Enough to make it look good without so much that would intimidate a spider.

I'm glad that works for you. I can swerve from either side of the Dymo tape. Just not a steady being, I guess. -
I really dig the figures and how they work with the ship. Railings look good, too. I really hope you rig it. Or it will look naked. No pressure.

Clear the Bench! It's Kotare Spitfire time!
GazzaS replied to GazzaS's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Well... I cannot comment on your situation because I don't know if you live in an apartment or... something larger. Here is my setup: My bench is only a little over a yard wide and half a yard deep. So, when I am not working on a kit, whatever fits in the box safely goes back in the box. I don't want them filling up with dust. Small, loose parts and delicate sub-assemblies go into a plastic container and into a cupboard that my wife has graciously given up to me and the detritus of modelling. Boxes of models in construction sit atop the cupboard. Larger pieces, like ships and mostly constructed models that won't go back in the box safely go into the same cupboard to stay out of hazard's way. I have been careless and put loose pieces into the cupboard. But they were there when I needed them. Really... I just make it up as I go along. I never had a concrete plan to slowly usurp space and fill it with model stuff. -

It's less difficult than you imagine Peter. Think of modelling as your pantry. In the mood for an easy peanut butter and jam on toast? Do some easy gluing on a kit. Get excited about a PE technique you just saw on youtube... Pick up that warship build that's been cooling it's heals because of your reluctance to play with PE. Itching to paint, pick up that fighter plane that you weren't in the mood to touch yesterday. Easy Peasy. It shouldn't be what you have to do. It should be what you want to do. -

It’s not motivation I need…. It’s something I have to wait on someone else to provide. To stay busy, I’ve been working on three other builds. -

Thank you for that, Hubert. Some nice details, for sure. Tempting... but my plate is full. I have three large units to complete before I dare buy another. Two with 11 inch guns and the one I'm working on with 12 inch guns.
