  1. It's handy for cheese sauces. Melts nice and easy... and works in sandwiches too. I haven't had any in over 25 years.
  2. Martin, thank you! Your friend does nice work. Actually... I already hit the crosses with a bit of the same color I used for the pin wash to dull them down a little bit. I'll hit them again. But I am glad you like my scratches. I'll be adding tiny bits of new rust to the places where the brackets used to be.
  3. mmm.... Velveeta!
  4. I can't say that I'm perfectly happy with them. But I really don't know what else to do. They wouldn't have come off without leaving marks. I've seen pics where some of the brackets were still hanging... but since they (the kit part) are too short... I nixed that. Another option would be to paint over them as if the paint had been touched up. But I don't know that would be any more convincing.
  5. Thank you, Peter. I did more on the figures today. But I also began weathering the tank. There first step was to add some scratches to the hull... where the schurzen had been torn off.... Far from convincing at this point... I'll add further weathering on them later. Then I did the pin wash. I started with a medium brown-black. But the brown tones were just absorbed in the red. So, I added more black. I had to spend a lot of time trying to lighten it up. To get rid of the darkness caused by blending, I kept going over it with white spirits. Except for a few more little snow and very few mud effects, and some streaking, I'm going to keep the weathering light.
  6. Luvvin the progress, Bill
  7. Great finish, Paul. And thank you for the interesting history.
  8. Thank you for your thoughts on lathes. I appreciate all the work you went through. I have had plans to build some larger scale warships from scratch for over 35 years. But gun barrels masts and other tapered metal things have always been the weak link. I've tried... but imperfect guns just kill any project.
  9. Looking very clean and neat, Peter. I'm not much of a Spitfire aficionado. It'll be interesting about the armor color.
  10. Like the man said... when painting tools, I love me some post-it notes. It's amazing how long one can spend painting details and weathering figures... and applying a few decals. The pics will say the rest... , I need a bucket or crate. I want to put it over the sight. I want to give the impression that the vehicle is buttoned up to keep it warm inside... or at least wonder why there is a beer crate over the sight... I still gotta do shit with pigments, too!
  11. Very nice job, Phil!
  12. Oh, I hate those static dischargers.
  13. Peter, thank you. I am not really going for slushy or muddy effects. I'm going for a February time frame when the sun melts snow from vehicles, yet secondary dirt roads (or improvised paths like this one) are still basically all white and covered in packed snow. I grew up living on a dirt road with a dirt driveway, so it's a condition I'm very familiar with. The difficulty is making what my brain sees into a physical reality. In my first snow dio, I started with white and found it very difficult to work with. So this time I started with the blue-grey.
  14. I have a few of them. One of them is rain marks which is just an off white. I may give that a go.
  15. Great job on this one, Phil!
  16. White pigments disappear under a matte coat. You can mix them with other color pigments... and get your vision... until you apply that matte coat.
  17. Thank you, Rob. I have to admit that I find the idea of applying white airbrush to this vehicle scares me half to death.
  18. Let snow, let it snow, Let it snow... I'm not sure that I'm happy with this stuff. I reckon it just might be soap powder. The grains art bigger than I like for the purpose. I swear next time I'm just gonna use baking soda. I used on a model 5 years ago, and it doesn't appear to changed. After painting thinned PVA in places in the tracks, on the roadwheels, drive sprockets, idler and hull I sprinkled it with the faux snow. In some places I painted a bit more PVA on to try to fight the grainy-ness. In this way, I'm hoping to connect the panzer to the base in the viewer's brain. It's still too blue. I'll have to use some more white through the airbrush in places. Probably some grey here and there to vary the shadows. The PVA is still wet. So, I'll start painting the tools on the panzer. Any opinions or ideas on the snow... will be appreciated.
  19. Looks great Mark. That precision masking is paying off.
  20. I actually prefer a cloudy day for outside photos. My bench lights are 'cool white'. I take an extra photo or two, but I have nowhere near your dedication to the art. For 'final' pics, i may take up to thirty and keep the best dozen. But then it's a simple 'crop', shrink to fit the screen, and maybe a final trim. My final goal being to get the most of the model and still have it fit into the LSM page without too much size/data causing extended upload time. What you see on LSM is the same size I see when I open it with the editor.
  21. Great looking 38t, Paul!
  22. Holy Moly, John! Well done! Glad to see you persevered. Is there any other USN or USMC carrier plane of WWII that you haven't modelled?
