  1. Hehe..I’m glad I didn’t see that earlier. As bad as that kit is, I’d still be tempted.
  2. Even though I’m not going, I’d buy one if it wasn’t for the T shirt collar. All I wear is button ups or Henley pull overs. I get something around and up close to my neck and it’s like putting tape on the bottom of a cats feet.
  3. I really like the Australian standards! Seems our home builders have the standard of cheapest, fastest and most expensive sale price they can get. I’ve seen gradient work done for wet areas, but it’s a special request adding lots of $$$$ to the price.
  4. Ok, pretty neat how they keep the bathroom floor slab areas lower than the rest of the slab so it can be built level once flooring starts going in. Around here it’s all one flat slab with the tile thickness basically a rise to trip over.
  5. And that humidity. Like 99.9999%. I know, it’s an old joke about “but it’s a dry heat”. But my first visit to Las Vegas in the summer let me experience this dry heat thing. Yea, much more tolerable than getting soaking wet with your clothes stuck to you and a bad case of swampass. I’ll take the dry heat any day over the southern swampass season.
  6. Wow Ernie, so glad to hear you and your loved ones are ok. Amazing how tornados pick and choose what gets destroyed. Old friends daughter was telling me Friday night about a tornado the went over and partially through her house in NC a few years back. Completely knocked in the front door, frame and all, windows too. But that was it with the house. 4 plastic lawn chairs in a circle in the back yard. Two completely shattered into pieces. One up in a tree in the neighbors yard and the fourth still sitting where it was before the storm.
  7. Wow, what a long life she has had. Good to hear she responded well to her care. My feline fur ball won’t let me near his nail, but as a kitten I was able to trim them. He’s not having any part of that now. He will bite his off to keep them in check though. He wakes up at night while he’s on the foot of the bed gnawing on those things.
  8. Isn’t it amazing how a set of good springs can completely change the personality of a car?
  9. Oh, I had this shipment from Scalehobbyist.com show up Thursday. First time ordering from them.
  10. So another Tamiya Corsair? I bet you could build those in your sleep. (Just a bit of brevity, I know….P-40N) I need a low cuss factor to jump on after the Cutlass. Just a break from all the fitting, filling, priming, filling, fitting, priming….
  11. Going to make your slime lights more realistic?
  12. The shopping or the package arriving? Now the shopping I cannot prove. But the fact that I’m typing this out should be proof I’m still alive and my fingers aren’t broken. See your Cutlass peaking out over the top of the box?
  13. Ha! SWMBO was out shopping with the daughter. I turned off the ring doorbell notifications this morning. It was meant to be.
  14. It was meant to be. Wife was out shopping when the big brown toy box on wheels pulled up. Yea, another under the radar!
  15. Ok, I sent another email and after a few days they responded and sent me a PayPal invoice. I have two sets on order. FWIW, they offer an early and late KAI conversion. Could not make out any differences but went with late since these are for the last Phantoms schemes.
  16. Anyone remember this old gem? Well it’s being re-popped! https://www.culttvmanshop.com/PREORDER-Lockheed-C-141-Starlifter-1108-scale-from-Atlantis--2799-PREORDER-RESERVATION_p_7815.html?mc_cid=9aa342e717&mc_eid=e9532bbbba I really should build mine.
  17. Might have to wear this one like a red badge of courage! It’s going to be hectic here tomorrow between daughter and SIL visit, new pup, their dog, doctors appointment, doing lunch out….Hmmm….I have a bunch of empty cardboard boxes I could pile up on the porch. She might not notice another sitting there unopened.
  18. FYI, it just dawned on me that the shipping charges seem to have changed at Sprue. And for the better. At least for this shipment. In the past expedited shipping was something like $16.99. This time it came up as $9.99, only $2 more than standard shipping. Yea, I paid it and it’s arriving tomorrow.
  19. Just applied a second coat of thinned putty after sanding. This late night work because of the new pup is giving me flashbacks of when my kids were little and I snuck down to my basement workshop after they went to bed to get a little time in. Wow. My youngest turned 25 this year. Time sure flies.
  20. Hey Peter, I thought about epoxy, but didn’t think about plastic filler rod. Honestly, I’m still afraid of too much shrinkage. I’m running into town tomorrow for a grocery run so I’ll swing by Advance Auto. I did find a can of bondo, but the last time it was used must have been on a 1990 something on the assembly line. It was as hard as a rock inside.
  21. Don’t have any in my stash of supplies. I can run to town and grab some Bondo at the auto parts store. Wait…I might have some epoxy putty. I’ll have to look.
  22. And guess who just ordered it. Great deal at just under $200 Yea, it will show up next week when the wife is home, but since were babysitting the grand kids all next week maybe the beating won’t be as bad. Besides, this was purchased using my Christmas raffle gift card I was so graciously given to me by Harald, aka Winnie. Now there might have been a little difference in the balance between the gift card and the total cost…..
  23. And I’ve gotta be careful with this one. She had parked herself at the base of my chair. I almost took her tail off when I rolled it.
  24. Before I get too deep into adding more parts I’m trying to stay ahead of the “gap and air bubble fill in” game. Otherwise I would lose my mind and sadly it might get placed high on the SOD. While babysitting the new pup I came down and mixed up some Tamiya putty and Leveling Thinner so I could get the putty to run into tight gaps. Thinned putty mixed with a generous amount of patience makes great filler. Let it dry, sand the edges and reapply several times. I did have a small blemish on the wings LE on the bottom I noticed and filled with straight putty, let it dry and sanded it flat. While priming it last night I noticed it acted strange and appeared to bubble up. So I just hit it with an Exacto blade to investigate. What? Is that a spec of silicone from the mold? Digging deeper….. It’s huge! And all the way through!! Off to the garage to see if I have any autobody filler (Bondo) left over. This is just too big to fill with epoxy and have it shrink back. But not only was it silicone pieces, but a large air bubble as well.
  25. Looking great Carl. You need a can of Endust on your bench. Necessity for builders that own very fuzzy animals! Don't spray it on the model. I spray on a micro fiber cloth, kind of squish it into the cloth and wipe down the model.
