Ah, just the opposite. Notice very few 1/32 on that list. I also have some of the 1/72 big birds like the Looking Glass and refueling tanker to list, but gotta find some big boxes first.

Another P-40E to P-40K build!
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Actor/Director/Producer Tyler Perry is into the big jets as well. He owns a huge hanger in Atlanta GA that’s on his “compound” where his mansion is. He has a C-17 about the same size as the 777 in the video. -
Reality has set in. I will never build all of the kits I have collected over the past 30 years. I’ve picked through the stash and decided it’s time to move a few dozen kits. I have two still I need to get boxes for, but fairly small kits so easy to find a box. I did an eBay COMPLETED auctions search for what these kits are actually selling for, not listed for. No trades at this time. The plan is to reduce the stash, not acquire more I want. 🤪 All prices are not including shipping. I just set up a Pirate Ship account and prefer to ship UPS because USPS is a nightmare right now with everything running late. Pirate ship gets you the lowest prices. Paypal preferred, but will take a USPS MO as well At this time I’m ready to sell/ship the following: 1/32 Testors H-43 Huskie $35 + shipping Listed on eBay 1/32 ROG Ju 87B Stuka. Kit 04796 Box open, sealed bags $30 + shipping 1/48 ROG B-26 Marauder. Kit 04525 Box open/sealed bags $24 + shipping 1/48 Italeri AC-130A gun ship Kit 818 Opened box/Sealed bags $130 + shipping eBay 1/48 Monogram AC-47 gun ship New in wrap $80 + shipping Sold on eBay 1/48 Academy CH-53E (Yea, the hard to find and highly sought after kit) open box, sealed bags includes two sets of Flying Leathernecks 48002 “naked chick” decals $295 + shipping. I would suggest paying extra for insurance on this one. A few have sold on eBay for over $400. Ebay I’ll have more coming later as I acquire boxes for shipping and reduce the current pile in the middle of the room.

Damn, Gary’s had it pretty bad. He also lost his daughter to Covid as well.

Another P-40E to P-40K build!
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Been away from the bench for a while traveling to see our daughter. Got back to it this morning. Did some touch ups on the camo where I mis-masked and had primer edges showing. this is right after hosing it down with leveling thinner to blend in the touch ups. And my new squirrel (distraction)…. This thing is light years away from when I was flying back in 1999. It’s a damned computer now. -
One leg? Gary lose a leg? I met him at the Nats when they were in Columbia.

Looks great John! I just got back into town after visiting our daughter in VA for a few days. I’ve got quite a bit of touch ups to do on my camo edges. But tomorrow…..

I went digging through old posts he made the other day. My favorite was him holding his new Daisy Red Ryder BB gun he got for Christmas. I couldn’t find it. ☹️

Well that will let me sleep sound. LOL! I am glad to say we finally went to an artificial Christmas tree. Backs just too ganked up to be hauling around a live 12’ tree anymore. -
Cobra Coupe - Le Mans - Model Factory Hiro 1/12
ScottsGT replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
On a side note, have y’all read or watched the tv show on the development of the coupe? The roof design was an aero dynamic design over the Cobra convertible that allowed it to go into turns at a higher rate of speed. There was something about the first body built didn’t have this correct airfoil shape and it was like hitting a brick wall in the turns. If memory serves me correctly, body was built in Europe and was returned for the roofline changes. Now talk about a long warranty service. -
Yea, saw that this am on TOS. I’m about to start pulling kits I know I’ll never get to and have a fire sale to justify this. I’m getting the launch rail as well. So far I’ve got about a half dozen kits in mind to finally let go. Most are 1/48, but really big 1/48. Also have a few helicopters since I was on a helicopter kick years back. Funny how I never finished one. But I’ll be listing them as I acquire shipping boxes for each. Not gonna be that guy that sells something online then tells the buyer I’ll ship it when I can find a box. EDIT: Forgot to mention. This IS my grail kit.

Another P-40E to P-40K build!
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
@DocRob The tape just arrived via Amazon. You were right. This stuff is nice and thin, feels just like Tamiya tape too. The sensitive is the same way but less “stick” to the adhesive. Just a little more sticky than a post-it note. -
Another P-40E to P-40K build!
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Does Canada law require an archeologist to be on site for the big dig of your bench? 😇 Tim, you are so right! But I’m going to lay blame on autocorrect 🤡 I got a very pleasant surprise yesterday with the insulation guys. Our home has one main large area with a cathedral ceiling in the middle. Kitchen and foyer is in this area as well. Bedrooms are “wings” on either side of the main area. Not including making access (I have no attic access in this house) it’s only $1400 to insulate over the bedrooms. Now the cathedral ceiling area is a different story. One of the guys thinks they attached the Sheetrock directly to the roof rafters. He doesn’t think it has a truss system with space above. They’re going to return with an infrared camera to look for hot spots to see of any insulation was packed between the joists. If not, they will go up on the roof, remove the two top rows of shingles and cut off the wood and blow it down inside the channels and then button it all back up. This might get a little costly. Access to the ceiling area over the bedrooms looks possible by removing the vinyl siding on the front of the house and going through the knee wall above the ceiling. The walls are 2 foot higher than the inside walls. Other option was cutting access into a ceiling and patching it up after. It was nice not having a contractor come out and give me a quote based on the view. I swear even the simplest things I keep getting $10,000 and up quotes. Contractors must think we got here by being stupid. -
So sad. You’ll be missed dearly Harv. Every time I come to this site I wonder how Harv was doing.

Chris, I get it! But if you’re wanting a T-6, T-28, F-86D or Kingfisher or……, they’re the only game in town. The only kit of theirs I’ve built so far is the T-6. Has a few minor issues that can easily be corrected with some Evergreen stock as shims. The cowl is a booger to assemble in four pieces. It doesn’t help when you transpose the parts arrangement and glue it together all wrong either. 🤪

Another P-40E to P-40K build!
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Oh, and no modeling this morning. I forgot I have a contractor coming by to recheck all the window measurements we’re getting replaced. Between old double pain glass with the UV breaking down inside and my discovery of zero insulation in my attic, we’re about to spend a hell of a lot of money on this place. -
Another P-40E to P-40K build!

Thanks Rob. You just cost me $25. 🤣 Amazon has this brand and I ordered a roll of the professional and a roll of sensitive. Not sure if those are meant for the surface they’re going on or the end user. But I qualify for both. 🤪 -

Done for the day. I’ll let the lacquer dry overnight and come back in the morning to tape off for the green. -

Another P-40E to P-40K build!
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Some of the frustrations. Looking at the rudder and vertical stabilizer the green goes down into the horizontal stabilizer. But the art drawings don’t match. Times like this is when I get frustrated and go kick my cat. I kid! I kid! I smack the dog instead. 🤣 -
Another P-40E to P-40K build!
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I often wonder if I do everything the hard way. Spent yesterday’s bench time and probably half of today’s just taping up for the camo paint job. I took the decal sheet and blew up to pics 200% and 300% to cut out templates. laid out Tamiya 40mm tape and traced it. cut it out placed it on the model. Of course not all lines line up, so some fudge factor corrections are made. once I spray the brown, I’ll line them with ticky tack and cover with tape and spray the OD green. Im eating through my Tamiya 40mm tape like candy. Sprue has been out of stock for a while now. Amazon to the rescue. Three rolls are supposed to be here tomorrow, which means Saturday at the earliest or Monday. -
Cobra Coupe - Le Mans - Model Factory Hiro 1/12
ScottsGT replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Ah, I forgot that’s a resin body and not Diecast. Derp moment on my part. But my comment on epoxy primer, pardon the pun, really “sticks” here. LOL. I ran into the same issues building my Fisher Cutlass. The entire time all I could think was my next resin build will get a 1st coat of epoxy primer. Thankfully my son goes through gallons of this stuff with his 1:1 scale cars he builds. I’m going to get some bottles and have him pour me off some for my next resin build. -
Cobra Coupe - Le Mans - Model Factory Hiro 1/12
ScottsGT replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Rob, still looks great even with the setbacks. Concentrate on completion and ignore the boogers. Come back later and fix those. Don’t let them play a mind game with you. When I was an autobody tech/painter the hardest thing to learn during a paint job was if we hung a run in the paint was to ignore it and move on. There’s no fixing it in in the paint booth with wet paint. Focus on finishing the car as best as you can and address the little stuff later. If we let a run get into our head, the entire paint job could easily be ruined. Pro tip for your next metal model or anyone reading this that is planning on a metal project. DON’T USED PLASTIC MODEL PRIMERS AS YOUR FIRST COAT! Go get a self etching primer for metal. Even a cheap rattle can of automotive etching primer is 100X better for your base coat primer. If you cannot source it, we use to use etching fluid we would spray on bare metal and the wipe it dry with a clean cloth. I’m sure it’s probably a common chemical anyone can find. ( I think it’s copper sulphate) Another option, but not as effective is to completely sand the surface with a 220 grit sand paper (we used 80 grit on an DA sander on cars) and then prime it and build the primer up and sand smooth. The problem here though is primer can shrink over time and sand scratches will appear in the paint. Now the best option is an automotive etching epoxy primer. Highly toxic if you breathe it in, so a charcoal filter respirator is mandatory. And unfortunately it only comes in larger quantities than the modeler needs. If you have a bodyshop near by, stop in and see if they would be willing to sell you 2-3 oz of primer and the catalyst. It’s usually a 1:1 mix. Spray it on, let it sit 24 hours then spray on a primer on top to work out for paint. But being an epoxy, it’s just like glue. You’re gluing the primer to the metal with it as long as you stay within the recoat window. -
What John said and the Hasegawa K is as rare as hens teeth. John, these things are like Lay’s Chips. Just can’t have one!

Just got back in country on a cruise. Still no movement. I got the phone number from another forum member on a different forum for Chicago Customs. Planning on calling them tomorrow.
