  1. Oh yea, at 61 (yea, I’m a young whipper snapper in some of you guys eyes) with bad knees myself I’m there. Muscle atrophy is a real thing, especially when you don’t use certain muscle groups from shooting pains when you try to use them.
  2. I don’t know, but the expression on his face says he just saw Carls bench for the first time.
  3. Peter, I watch my 85 yo FIL stumbling around on his very bad knees. It kills me that he refuses to use a walking cane. I’ve watched him several times go into “break dancing” mode trying to catch himself when he stepped onto an uneven surface or stairs without a hand rail. It seems that hardheadedness and stubbornness is also part of growing old. He refuses to admit he needs a “crutch”.
  4. Spent some time this am hosing down the decals with Leveling Thinner. Wow. What a difference. Didn’t have time for the flat clear yet, maybe tomorrow.
  5. My sons latest adventure…… As you may remember my son is involved in building high end restomod vintage Corvettes. Just recently he branched out making “wall art” from Corvette back ends. This one is his first…. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/chevrolet-c7-corvette-wall-art-3/
  6. Prayers and thought for the both of you Peter. Thankfully it wasn’t as serious as our friend Harv’s fall was. I lost another Internet forum friend to a fall in his home last year. Much younger man in his 50’s. Sad situation. Falls are not to be taken lightly.
  7. I will admit, it is a beauty of a kit with very few flaws. So much potential wasted on bad instructions. I’m really pleased with the decal quality, maybe a hair bit on the thicker side, but they are laying down great and responds well to Microsol and Tamiya adhesive/softener.
  8. Well, let it dry overnight, inspect and flat clear time. I have a few more tiny decals to apply, but after I touch up the exhaust area from overspray. Once again, Revell has call outs for decals not even on the decal sheet. I swear it’s like Revell copied someone else’s kit instructions and called it a day. Now I understand why they went bankrupt. If they ran a company like they made this kit, well you get the point.
  9. Wow! What a difference. Kit tires would have been good to build a South Carolina yard art car with deflated and dry rotted tires. Speaking of SC yard art, I must live in a high end area because one neighbors yard art is an old Porsche 944 with weeds growing up around it.
  10. Don’t let that urethane dry out! It will sound like a pack of mice squeaking down the road. I used them on a Samurai I once had. Had me install them with a sticky, nasty black moly lube that was like gorilla snot. Took days to get that crap off my fingers. But the upside was they never went dry. You’re not going to recognize the ride as your car when you’re done. I remember when I did my first spring install on my ‘95. It went from feeling like I was driving on top of a beach ball to a go-cart.
  11. Insignia and unit markings done! Now I get to spend all day tomorrow doing all the placards and no step on line stuff.
  12. Not sure if I’m a genius or just a modeling hack. But I just went and bought this at Harbor Freight. why you ask? Because there’s not one straight line for my eyes to reference to so my decals don’t look like a crosseyed fool put them on.
  13. Mark….. Come out and play with me! Misery loves some company!
  14. Hey Mark, I’m watching my son go through changes in his Army career as well. He joined the National Guard after high school and put in about 10-11 years. When he got serious about finishing up college I told him to check out officers pay and retirement. He jumped on the Green to Gold program and got contracted in ROTC. He’s now in Virginia and started his Capt. Career Course training yesterday. It’s funny listening to him bounce around ideas where he wants to go next. Germany/Italy/Washington state and work port logistics/Texas…..he has no idea.
  15. Rob, I wish that all that they screwed up!
  16. We got our total 7 years ago. It was in the summer time, and we were soaking in the country club pool at the time with eclipse glasses. And beer. Lots of beer. That’s the day we decided we needed to move from that area.
  17. Yea, my last house the modeling bench was just a simple fold out cafeteria table. It would have rivaled some I’ve seen on here, that’s for sure! Had a second table in the room that was the junk yard. It was self cleaning because as it piled up, it slid off onto the floor. If we didn’t move 3 years ago that pile on the floor surely would be at table height by now.
  18. Love these tiny caricature models. I have an F-16 I started but misplaced the pilot. Then I found it packing for the move. And now I have no idea where any of it is at.
  19. Clear coat! Decals up next. Lots of shadows, not bad camo.
  20. Thanks! I can always give it a shot! I’ll PM you.
  21. Carl, I just looked all through the Revell Phantom instructions on Scale Mates. The only hard wings are the RF-4C and RF-4E. All the other kits, including F-4F, are slatted. I did measure out the wing tips on my RF-4C and my built Tamiya F-4J. I think I could make them work if I have to. Waiting to hear back from BiggTim.
  22. Interesting. I have the F kit as well. Also got word on LSP that Harold use to make a hard wing tip set too. I’ve reached out to BiggTim to see if he can located the masters or molds. I’m actually needing three sets because I wanted to use a Revell kit for my Thunderbird build. Probably just as easy to use the F kit and swap parts needed. These damned Revell kits are mix masters!
  23. Loosie goosie! I had to laugh when I saw how loose it is. I bet the tail end was all over the road during spirited driving.
