  1. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. A rare moment after wrapping up and cleaning up for the next build. Should be my F-35A, but waiting on the Quinta interior and not sure how much longer it will take. I may slide in another “quick build” like the Sea Fury was suppose to be. LOL!
  2. Couple shots of the other side.
  3. Well this project sure took a few turn of events that were changes for the best. It started out as a “quick out of box” build just to help reduce the stash. But then Carl jumps in and offers up a Fisher folded wing. How can I say no to that!? Then I discovered the canopy was a hot mess and all out of shape which meant I needed a Squadron vacuum canopy for a Typhoon. As construction continued I put a post out on LSP for a Fisher corrected prop. I was floored when I got a response after a few hours, and like the wing, it was gifted to me as well. Man, I’m gonna pay it forward in a big way when the opportunity arises. After dealing with very fragile decals I decided that I was not going to push my luck trying to weather this one. I actually had an accident untaping the canopy and grabbed the upper half of the “A” on the right side with Tamiya tape and ripped it off. Thankfully some careful re-taping and brush work fixed it. So much for my quick build. All in all I put about 7 weeks into it.
  4. Yea, I’m still coughing and hacking up stuff that drains from my head into my lungs at night when I sleep. The first 90 min of my day is nothing more than lung clearing time. I can’t seem to break the sinus issues, although they are a constant problem for me even before Covid.
  5. Almost there! A few paint touch ups and she’ll be done!
  6. I’m back at the bench after a week missed due to missing a flight for our cruise and then spending a few days in Cherokee NC at the casino only to come home and discover I have Covid. Hopefully I’m on the backend of that right now. But still bad sinuses and headaches. During this stretch I did get my delivery of the rare as hens teeth Fisher Prop and spinner. As requested, here’s some pics comparing the two. As you can see, Fisher is scale with prop blades attaching to a hub and covered with the spinner. The kit just has blades on a stick that glue into holes on the wrong shaped and too long spinner. Just all wrong Fisher builds up with a jig. And of course the final product Now off to figure out how to mount these folded wings with broken off tabs.
  7. Apparently they will self fly now after the pilot ejects. So should I build mine in-flight minus canopy and seat/Pilot? https://www.counton2.com/news/pilot-ejected-from-f-35-plane-in-north-charleston/
  8. Thanks everyone. Woke up this morning feeling much better already. Like the PA at the Urgent Care said yesterday, I’m on the back end of this so it’s just going to get better each day. But of course the wife is where I was at two days ago. This is her second round of covid.
  9. Thanks Hubert. We bought the basic trip insurance. Airline already refunded our points and cash for the airfare. Cruise line refunded the cost of the excursions, port taxes and fees and all the little things that add up. Now I’ve got to submit another form for the actual cruise cost and the letter from the airline showing it was a cancelled flight due to weather. Edit to add: Honestly, I had no idea I had covid and would have proceeded with the cruise if the flights were not cancelled. About this time every year for the past 5 or 6 years I get the late summer/early fall sniffles from those pesky yellow flowering weeds. Golden Rod is one of them. I thought I was simply having my annual reaction.
  10. I just got…… ……a positive Covid diagnosis. 😷 was supposed to be on a cruise. Storms canceled flights. No rental cars. I would have been patient zero that got the entire ship quarantined. Someone was telling me to not get on that ship. So here I sit in a parking lot waiting on my Rx to get filled.
  11. Starting to lay down a few decals. I guess this is my consolation prize since I’m supposed to be on a cruise ship right now up in New England. Storms throughout the NE on Saturday cancelled all flights into NYC. Going to settle on a couple of days at the Cherokee Casino in NC starting tomorrow.
  12. Dennis, never say never! Still have 3 1/2 months to go before the end of the year. since you compiled a list of kits bought this year, it got me thinking. Trumpeter Devastator Trumpeter F-35B Tamiya Spitfire Special Hobby Tempest off eBay Revell F-14 (pre-owned) Trumpeter TBM 1/24 Canadian Mist Beaver float plane I’m still thinking about the Revell Hurricane and the A-20. But at this point I’m on build # 6 for the year. I need to focus on pumping those numbers up! Those are rookie numbers!
  13. Great pics Ernie! That Gulfhawk is my favorite.
  14. Evil plan, part deux a success! Now off to readjust the zones on my Ring doorbell camera. 👺
  15. Must be nice! We had to make concessions when we moved to the lake 29 months ago. I gave up the 3 car garage and my hobby room that was 24X30. I now have a deep single car garage and my hobby area is basically under the basement stairs, about a 9X4 area, but I kind of roll out into the rest of the room with my hobby tool chest and paint rack. We can push the chest in and out of the way when company visits. I do have another wall with my display case, Gun safe, ammo cabinet and two file cabinets. I’ve got an awesome reloading bench, but it’s out in storage since I just have nowhere to set it all up. Havent been shooting in almost 2 years. I need to join the range in town.
  16. That’s some beautiful woodworking! I got into it at my last home that had a 3 car garage where I had some room to work. If I want to do any projects now, I have to park the ‘66 Mustang out in the weather while I turn my garage into a woodworking studio. But now that I’m retired it seems that my main focus is my modeling hobby. I’ve often thought about selling off my woodworking equipment due to lack of use. Problem is, once you have it you just cannot let it go. I think I’ve used my track saw twice in two years, drill press twice, jointer and planer once. It’s hard to let go of tools that support a new skill set I’ve learned.
  17. I’d love a 1/32 IM kit.
  18. Going to build the Italeri A model first with the Splinter scheme. I’m thinking the B model needs to be built on a stand in a VTOL landing approach.
  19. Undercover baby! And I even learned to manipulate the Ring doorbell camera zone so she doesn’t get notifications. Devastator is arriving Friday while she’s at work too. 😁
  20. This is NOT a joke video, but a documentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyjFu0CbXTc
  21. Yea, ours “feels like 104” today from humidity. We leave town next week for a cruise and of course our weather is cooling down, but up in New England where we’re going is expecting a heat wave. Just walking to the mailbox takes it all out of me in that heat.
  22. It’s HUGE!!!!
