  1. Nice detail. I was wondering about the placards as well. They really add an extra level of detail.
  2. Whoa...bigger than my convertible.
  3. Nice progress. Just catching up with your build.
  4. That's a big RC engine. How big is the plane for it?
  5. Lovely looking build John. Not the usually markings you see on a strafer too.
  6. And I found it! Looking for a Mad Max conversion kit somewhere in the stash, I found the Amusing Hobby FV217 Badger I'd started last year. I wanted to finish it earlier this fall when I came across the box with the few remaining parts in it but no tank. Wasn't on my bench so I had no idea where it had gone. Seems it got put in a storage container so now I'm good to get it done
  7. Looks pretty there with that fresh coat of snow.
  8. Looks very nice and clean.
  9. Well, since it's "unbuildable' now, might as well pack it back up and send it to me. 😆
  10. I also found my original build thread on LSP. https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/66822-tamiya-spitfires-hf-vii-and-viii/ It jumps around a bit as I was building a couple other Spitfires at the same time but there's pics and descriptions of most of the conversion work I did. Carl
  11. I found this. https://www.scribd.com/document/460074127/How-to-Build-Tamiya-s-1-32-Spitfire It's chapter 9. The Spitfire is Medium Sea Grey over PRU Blue. Barracudacal has the markings on one of their decal sheets but I used paint masks for mine.
  12. Great choice to do a VII Dave! The biggest hurdle with doing a VII is the deeper rear canopy section. The other changes are reasonably straightforward to do. When I did my conversion using the same kit, after a couple tries at smash moulding the rear canopy, I ended up just carefully bending a piece of acetate to match the fuselage profile. Roy Sutherland did an article on the conversion in the Building the Tamiya Spitfire book. I used that as a reference for the other changes that were needed. Carl
  13. I really thought you'd buy a case of them. Guess you're playing it safe starting with 1.
  14. Thanks for sharing. I know how much a 109 fan you are so it's great to hear the kit meets your expectations. Carl
  15. Almost missed a fourth part: Junior
  16. Japanese garage kits back in the '80s and '90s featured a lot of unlicensed vinyl models. Mostly figures but also vehicles. A few have recently been reissued and are even licenced now. That's the case with this Chibi Godzilla I picked up last year. Made by Kaiyodo, it even has a trademark registration on it. It's a simple kit, just three parts. The excess vinyl gets trimmed off. They generally put in some cut lines to help guide you. Tail and lower body press fit together. Then add the upper body and the assembly is done. Now the fun part- the paint job.
  17. Every time I see PBJ, I think Peanut Butter & Jam. Had many of those sandwiches as a kid in school.
  18. Me too. Even have the t-shirt... ...glued to the bench.
  19. Gecko Models has just announced a 1/16 M24 Chaffee Hopefully they do a British version too.
  20. Let me know how that Iwata kit works out Paul. I've looked at as well and would be interested to hear on its usefulness.
  21. Nature abhors a vacuum after all. So it's good to make sure everything is in balance.
  22. Interesting, because there was one at my LHS today as well. Might have even been bigger than the one at your LHS. Guess I'm as weak as you.
  23. My sister and her family are visiting from Chicago. They brought their dog Maggie up with them. Sue says we should have kept her when we had for a few months back they were moving. Meantime, here's Jimmy's idea of winter fun.
