LSM Modelling News 2023 merged Fran and Artful69’s threads

I'm curious as to how many sections that barrel will be in to fit in the box. -
That's the best image I've seen. I just finished going through my references and couldn't find anything.

Thanks! I think it'll go nicely with the R32 GT-R that I did earlier. It's unfortunate that Hasegawa won't re-issue the 1/12 Twin Turbo 300Z that they did in the early '90s then it would be perfect to have all three.

Revell/Dragon Me-110 1/32

Nice job on the mottling as well as the overall paint job. The yellow does look a bit bright but I suspect it'll tone down if you do any weathering. -
I had a couple orders show up recently. First up are some F-14 bits in different scales. Both are for Tamiya kits though. With the seats, I finally have everything for my Final Countdown Tomcat so I'll probably get back to that shortly. Next up is a decal sheet for the Tamiya F-35A kit. It also includes masks for the aggressor scheme which is what I'll be using. With some of the other choices included, I may just have to get another kit. I also got a new tool that's supposed to help with cutting fine curves in tape. We'll see how that works out. Lastly, I had a set of 3D printed resin rims and tires but no model for them so I had to solve that problem.

So, IS the new Airfix Spitfire lXc worth it?

For me, if it had been a XIV, I'd have been first in line at the LHS for one. -
So, IS the new Airfix Spitfire lXc worth it?
BlrwestSiR replied to Clunkmeister's topic in Modelling Discussion
I think it's worth it at that price. It's similar here in Canada. The reason I haven't picked up one yet is the scale. I don't have anything else in that that scale so it'll stick out. I have thought that if I get one, I'd do it opened up and highlighting the internal detail. -
This was my introduction to the Skycrane: They used it to lift the last section of the CN Tower into place. It was the tallest structure in the world when they finished it. I wonder if someone will do a diorama of this.

Peter, a straightforward kit that won't throw you any surprises is always a good stress reliever. I like Bandai kits as well as Tamiya for that reason. Some of the Bandai kits don't even need masking if you're painting them they've done such a great job with the parts breakdown. As for the P-38, I have their J in the stash and just need to find some different markings for it, maybe some with invasion stripes.

That's one big helo!

That's the one. Thanks for posting it.

The first vipers for the Czech Air Force are ready!
BlrwestSiR replied to Martinnfb's topic in General Discussion
The Zulu is flown by the USMC as well. I don't think there's much commonality with the Vietnam era Cobras except for the general appearance and name. -
There's a video on YouTube of how the diorama was made. It's pretty impressive to watch and starts with the modeler cutting that Panzer III in half. Just need to find the link.

Great looking Spitfire Martin. Are those the kit belts? -
I'll have to get some paint masks for that.

That is pretty cool. Stargate!

what's on your to buy list for 2023 (newly released kits only)
BlrwestSiR replied to npb748r's topic in Modelling Discussion
For me at the moment, it looks to be a Honda F1 year. Meng have their 1/12 McLaren MP4/4 coming out while Beemax has a Lotus 99T also in 1/12. Although the latter has already been pushed back half a year. Turbo Honda engines and cigarette labels galore. I've been tempted by the new Apache kit but haven't been able to commit to it. I think the rotor span is the sticking point. Yes, you can build it folded but that wouldn't look right. Same goes for the CH-54. Maybe after I build my new display case this summer... There's a guy in Belgium who's doing a 1/32 Spitfire XIV conversion for the Tamiya kits. That I will get for sure once it's out. Maybe even more than one. I know @Martinnfb wants one too. -
Hope you're feeling better. Whoops, my mistake. For some reason, I thought you had done one.
-
That looks impressive. Let us know what it's like when it arrives Mark.

Hubert has reviewed the 1/32 one now here. The additional pics of the real thing on the TMN review will be handy.

Thankfully our dog doesn't come into the basement or he'd probably try to join them. And he's 115 lbs.
