  1. Left side makes sense as the boarding ladder is on that side. I'll probably just mask and paint the walkways. They're just squares so shouldnt be too hard. * * Famous last words.
  2. I got a couple tools in the mail today. A pair of razor saws made by Galaxy. Stainless blades so hopefully a bit stronger than the ones I have now. The handles are rubber coated and being a bright red, it should make it easier to spot on my bench. I also got some masks for the Tamiya F-35A and the Takom Apache.
  3. The coat of paint looks great. I have to agree that the elfenbien is a bit on the yellow side.
  4. Very nice recovery Scott. The seams don't look that bad. My Lanc fuselage looks the same as I had to saw it apart to fix some of the fuselage windows.
  5. Thunder Models do very nice detailed kits. Sort of like Miniart so this should be really good
  6. Don't you mean a European swallow?
  7. In Phil's defence:
  8. Lovely looking Tempest there Kevin. The Whirlwind goes together really nicely. The nacelle bulkheads need a small trim to fit correctly but that's all I've found on my build.
  9. Nice recovery there Scott. That really is a great scene in the film while the Tomcats play with the Zeros. Just like how a real cat plays with their prey.
  10. Great build and paint job. I really need to do something similar with my sons. They like modelling but we haven't done one together. Might be a good summer project for us. Carl
  11. You're welcome Martin! I thought if they helped you out, they may help out someone else.
  12. When I was at Heritage earlier this year, Martin asked me to grab some pics of their C-47 for his project. Here they are in no special order.
  13. Thanks Martin. Honestly, the tank is mostly done. It just needs the hatches put on it and the main gun I think. Maybe some other small bits.
  14. You're beating it into submission. Glad those pics helped. Carl
  15. I forgot I have these pics from Oshkosh in 2019. They show the mounts and rails which would be the same as on the tiered setup. Here's the pigtail arming wires.
  16. Such a cool looking tank when it first entered service. I should finish the AFV one I have.
  17. Talk about intentionally trying to screw things up for the builder. Makes me wonder if I made the same mistake when I built my Revell Tomcat all those years ago. As for the lawn, that's one reason we don't have grass. Just lots of dirt, I mean ground cover. At least it was ground cover before Jimmy.
  18. Great job on the canopy decals. I chickened out and didn't apply them to my build.
  19. More progress this morning. Mostly, it's painting bits and bobs in white. I did get the ventral fin stripes done in yellow. Now to mask them off for the black.
  20. Thanks Rob! I've used spreader bars on other builds. They can really help reduce or eliminate fillers later on.
  21. Mark, I'd go with Phil's suggestions. A good quality kit built OOB. No research, AM or anything. Many folks like the Bandai Star Wars kits for that purpose. Or perhaps a Tamiya 1/48 kit, either armour or aircraft.
  22. Sounds somewhat painless there Scott. On the Tamiya, the fuselage halves are screwed together with the screw heads very visible so mine are filled with epoxy putty. No way to take that one apart.
  23. Time for an update. I've been mostly assembling and painting several smaller bits of the Tomcat. I got the vertical tailplanes painted. The nose cone was attached and the seam cleaned up. Lastly, I sanded out the canopy seam and polished it up. And the cockpit is all done.
  24. Just checked the decal sheet and Scott is correct, there's two of the right side ventral tail stripe. Guess I'll be painting them on.
  25. Wait, what??? I hadn't noticed. I'm going to have to look closer.
