  3. Windsock Spring Edition 2016 Price tag: £7.70 Available at www.windsockdatafile.co.uk All of WWI modeler have or had sometime a Windsock Special on hands. It`s have a good quality print in a gloss thin paper. Their graphic style is quite unique and different for today standard like you see in others magazines. On the cover front of the Albatros B.II removed from one Ronny Bar profile. almost all topics covered within this issue is on the cover but not all. As all Windsock Datafile frontline and logbook made the two first pages. Now a serious case: Harry Woodman chapter... this series are well worth an entire book. This time is plastic card techniques to make fuselages, wings, tail wings, propellers, airsrews... Everything from scratch... Today we are quite spoiled with several great model around the modelling world, specially by Wingnut wings. Just check this 1:48 Voisin made from plastic card in 1967/1968... wow!!! The next chapter I really like. Helmets, Hats and Headgear brings us this time the Roold Helmet. In Great War Paint some fantastic pics and profiles of a very cute plane: Caudron G.3. Please WnW? At the movies! Well this is the best there is! Several pics taken for actual WWI movie and the link for the video is at the end of that speciaffic aircraft video! Great research work! Review section with the Post War DH.9 Ninak and Albatross B. II Early and big birds from Merit ( Se5 a And Dr. I) To end with a big boom, some fantastic pics of Albatros B.II... some perfect reference for WnW Alb. B.II Early. These ones are quite useful to anyone who's making or have in the stash, the WnW Albatross B. II. Conclusion: The Windsock datafile always contains a lot of information varied and very interesting to any lover of WWI. In top of that there lots of pics that are perfect for modellers. So if you have a Alb on your stash... this one is for you. If you like/love WWI, this one is also for you. If you scracthbuild is on your next project or its just your thing, this one is definitely for you. Very highly recommend. My sincere thanks to Ray Rimmel and Windsock for the opportunity and the review sample.

  12. PLUSMODEL Diorama Accessories Sets (U.S. Pressure Bottles; Road barriers; Plastic Cans; ) Available from Plusmodel for the prices indicated below on the text Plusmodel is my favourite diorama accessories manufacture in modelling world. They do allied quality with originality. If your project is a vignette or a diorama, then Plusmodel is your solutions. All the samples comes with the usual packing, in small paper boxes with the resin aprts wrap in bubbles plastic. PLASTIC CANS Catalogue n.º 468 Prize tag: $18.20/€12.80 Simple plastic cans. And this set brings a lot of them. 30 plastic cans to be precise. All the cans are in light gray resin without distortion or flash as usual. There are 9 types of plastic packaging. Small, medium, large, narrow, wide ... There`s got to be something for everyone! A small sheet of decals has good colour registration with various chemical warning labels and toxic warning. The small PE sheet brings 8 handles with two distinct styles allowing handles to 4 drums. U.S. Pressure Bottles – Modern Catalogue n.º 478 Price Tag: $20.90/€14.70 Now a set for modern subject! Is not a small set with 59 resin parts. Its brings 10 and allows 4 to have all the pressure connection and control structure of this pressure with pressure gauges and valves. The bottles are modelled in a single resin pour block. They are quite easily removed with a saw. All the parts are cast in light gray resin and no warps, or casting imperfections. The PE small contains 7 pieces that are very easy to work with, giving some extra detail to it. A novice on PE should have no problem working with these ones. The decal sheet includes gas nomenclature (acetylene, air oil free, oxygen, nitrogen oil free, argon oil free, carbon dioxide) and stripes (white, green and black) that are design for the bottles. The set includes parts to assemble 10 gas cylinders: - gas cylinders (10x), - main valves (10x), - safety caps (10x), - pressure gauges (10x). The pressure gauges are not given in decal… so to do them realistically, a decal would be perfect for it. However the decal sheet doesn’t bring any so or you do a custom decal or your paint for yourself. As you can see in the box art, this set also Includes a hand cart for transportation. The cart looks quite simple but with some delicate construction. So extra care should be taken to get it done. Its well detailed with chorea and two wheels and still clasp to hold the bottle in the car. Really nice touch. The wood pallet is also included, and made by 7 resin parts, with very easy construction. This wood pallet could be used with the set or in other scene. Its perfectly used in other scenarios. The instructions are a simple paper sheet with assembly diagram, decal placement directions and color guide. Nothing to report on this one, as they are clear to follow in the construction and decal guidance. Road Barrier Catalogue n.º EL066 Price tag: $4,6/3.3€ The Set is from Easy Line, a line with very few parts to be used easily and without major problems to give an extra detail to your diorama at low cost. Is like a low-cost line from Plusmodel. So the set is made from 6 resin parts, barrier timber and a wire. The barrier timber is a mall wooden trunk round and round and cut to size. The resin parts are the baluster as well as barrier support mechanism. The wire is for modelers use to shape the handle on ballast. It has no instructions or foot but a small drawing showing the location of parts. Is a simple set, inexpensive but very effective bringing more life and interest to your diorama. Conclusion I`m afraid that I becoming quite annoying about Plusmodel quality but is their fault. These sets just have everything for your diorama: quality, easy to construct, originality and good prices. What do you want more? If these sets are what you need to enhance your diorama just doi it and treat yourself and your work and project. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Our truly thanks to Plusmodel for these review samples.

  13. AEG (Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft) (Aircraft of WWI: A Centennial Perspective on Great War Airplanes: Volume 16 (Great War Aviation) Publish at 15/07/2015. Aeronaut Books Author: Jack Herris ISBN: 978-1-935881-28-5 Price tag: £ 32.49(plus shipping) Aeronaut Books is a born child of Jack Herris and their goal is to ensure that all types of WW1 aircraft are documented. All the titles from Aeronaut Books are POD (Print on Demand) to allows to make all the books financially feasible. Aeronaut goal is to ensure that all types of WW1 aircraft are documented. When Jack Herris owned Flying Machines, it was published Austro-Hungarian Army Aircraft of World War One, French Aircraft of the First World War, British Airplanes 1914-1918 so those are covered. In late 2014, was published American Military Aircraft 1908-1919 and Icarus Press published Russian Aeroplanes 1914-1918 and Flying Machines also published The Imperial Russian Air Service about 1995, so Russian airplanes are covered. I have had the pleasure and good fortune to have done reviews of Blue Max Vol 7 and Friedrichshafen books. Logo is always a pleasure to do another review of another book Aeronaut. A review of a book is always very enriching because I read the books almost in its entirety. My expectation of any Aeronaut book is now always high because they really are a reference in the WWI. The AEG has the same structure of Friedrichshafen`s book, covering all AEG airplanes made, being because of that, a reference for AEG airplanes. It’s a medium size book, in A4 format, with soft cover and paperback. On the cover, an original and fantastic painting from Steve Anderson with the one and only AEG G IV. Throughout the 186 pages, the author provides us with lots of information and lots of pictures on AEG aircraft and inspiration for the modeler. Like the others books from Aeronaut, they always pretend to be a reference to modelers and historians trying to get a balance between those two goals. I always learn much when I read these books and the AEG is no exception… For instance… I did not know that the AEG D.I in 1917 was the fastest German fighter or the AEG factory were the first to build metal-framed aircrafts. After a small briefing about AEG, a full table all of AEG types and numbers and their frontbesthand inventory. I confess that I really like the information as you can track down your model (or the one you`re about to made) and put it in a past timeline and in a specific period. Here`s a very curious fact: Do you know which is the most produced AEG? Yes… it’s the IV but not the G… it’s the C.IV, with 495 units made against the 320 units of the G.IV. The G.IV hasn’t the 2nd most made AEG… not only was the 3rd. The 2nd place goes to the AEG J.II with 400 units made. Passing the curious facts, the first chapter is AEG reconnaissance two-seaters. Like the Friedrichshafen, all types are cover with images and a brief spectifications and history. This chapter starts with B types. B.I, B.II and B.III. The B types were not very significant. In fact in the reconnaissance type, the only one that had impact in active duty and was built in large amount was the AEG C. IV. The AEG B is such a gorgeous airplanes and the pic of he B.II in page 11 is well representative of their beautiful lines. Great pic of a beautiful plane. The C type, as stated above does have a much richer history to tell, so a Type specification table is given with all C types knowed. Some rare picture of some AEG C types with a particulary enhance to a AEG C.IIe with a annular radiator… TOP! I must spotlight the AEG C.III… I do like unusual looking aircraft and this one is just like that: ugly, unusual and I love IT!. 6 profiles are given, one from a AEG B.II, two of a C.I and 3 from the AEG C.IV. Only now we enter the world of AEG C.IV. Like the bomber type the IV is magic number for AEG. More than 40 pages on the AEG C.IV with type history and factory Fokker small history. Also the R type is included with 2 paragrafs. So the AEG C.IV was powered with a 160hp Mercedes D.III engine and soon gained reputation for reability and speed but the flight issue was not easy to do. And AEG C.IV did have some very goods competitors: Albatross D.II, DFW C. V, Roland C.II or the exceptional Rumpler C. IV. We really need a WnW AEG C.IV. The next chapter is the fighter and AEG only had two. I could keep going with my thoughts and summaries but if I do, you don’t need to buy the book. Check up some pages. All chapters have information for every single type, some with more than others, depending of the aircraft history. All are accompanied with very interesting photographs of all documented models and SVK drawings. Conclusion CONCLUSION If you are a AEG lover this boos is the right thing for you. Althought, is not a walkaround of AEG G.IV, is a very good reference to it and to all AEG types. Even in paperback, photo images are of a generally higher quality than I have seen previously. The Technical notes are very good ones and go beyond the general specifications and engine types. There`s a few profiles, and quite some good ones, specialty for AEG C. IV and G.IV. This book describes and illustrates the development of AEG aircraft of WWI with text, tons of photos, color profiles, production quantities and serial numbers of aircraft, and aircraft dimensions and performance specifications. Its serious and committed study of the AEG aircraft of the WWI. The POD allows us to have these fantastic books but its does have its limitations, the paper back and the soft cover. 18. ROYAL MODEL 1:35 Scuba Diver and Boys throwing Stones (Ref: 760 and 749) Available from Royal Model Royal Model is a very well know name in the modelling world, especially for AFV/Dioramas models. There´s a brief history about Royal Model directly from Royal Model website: “Royal Model came into existence in the early 1990s in Catania (Italy) as a result of the passion that its founder, Roberto Reale, has always had for the world of art in general and of modelling in particular. In 1995 with the appearance of its first products, ROYAL MODEL soon was awarded the Modell Fan magazine prize in the "accessories for dioramas" category and from that time on there have been a continuing number of accollades that have led the company to invest all of its energies in the articles that it has produced to date. Today ROYAL MODEL is one of the few companies that can pride itself on offering a catalog that completely addresses all aspects of military modeling, in particular in 1/35 scale, always seeking to provide the modeler with ground-breaking products that are accurate in every detail. As in the past, ROYAL MODEL continues to dedicate as much attention as possible to producing its unique line of products, reproducing the most minute details with the utmost attention and precision, using the best materials available and innovative technology combined with experienced and knowledgeable personnel, while constantly engaging in scrupulous historical research for details which remains the bedrock of the success of this company. After 20 years of business we can rely on a world-wide distribution organization, which leads us to believe that we have succeeded in making our products readily available even for customers who may not be able to find them in their own location.” After making zombies reviews, I just return to “normal” stuff. Normal but incredibly original. So, now Royal Model just release a scuba diver and a set with 3 boys. One thing that I always found quite perfect in Royal Model figures is the sculpting. Al the figures are morphologically and anatomically “perfect”, and that is not easy, really not see, as we see now and then some very distorted figures in their hands or face. Not Royal Models, and these ones are no exception, even the boys are perfect. Scuda Diver Catalogue n.º 760 Price tag: 12€ This scuba diver is actually a bold release from Royal Models as the only use of it is in deep water… in modelling term, in deep resin and lots of it… not every model is willing to attempt that… But now with this one, I do for sure will try a “aquarium” diorama and an aircraft wreck. The pose of the scuba diver is an “in action“ pose… he`s diving and swimming under water… Check all the resin gray parts you found no distortion or bubbles. All the detail of a scuba diver are there: -Exposure wet suite -Hardness -Mask -Air hose -Fins -Air tank -Air Regulator -Dive computer (wrist watch) -ankle knife All the details are very well reproduced with sharp detail. The fins are very well made with some curve to represent the legs movement under water. The only low I can find on this set is its own limitation to be used only under water. Boys throwing stones Catalogue n.º 749 Price tag: 29€ When I saw hthise set I just thought: wow, great idea… The image is a typical one for the Middle East but in reality you can use it in any other scenario. It brings 12 resin parts, and the each figure come with the torso and legs in one single piece. The arms and head are separate. The resin is casting is quite good. I also found one bubbles on one body. The rest is flawless. The intention of the all set is movement. The movement of throwing move with every muscle and body part. That sense of movement is quite hard to sculpt and transfer that sense to a figure is quite hard… However Royal Model did it! You look to the boys and you see movement, the violence of the throw, the energy spends in that movement. The arms are perfect made with some stones in the hands of some boys and their positions in relation with the body just are the top noch to that sense of movement. Perfect. Now, the heads and face. If the bodies are anatomic perfect for child, the head and the face are also in perfect dimension. To have a perfect sense of movement, the face is essential and these ones are just amazing. Boys are screaming, with words of order, revenge, anger, rage… Conclusion: Wow… These boys are the perfect representation of the quality of some product in our modelling world. Really is a golden area. I just found one bubble easy to fix so it does not move donw my feelings about these “boys” set. The scuba diver is also fantastic with the only low is that his usefully is quite narrow… only under water.. All items are top noch in quality and for sure in originality. Do you self a favor, and get both these!!! You wont be sorry! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Our sincere thanks to Royal Models and Roberto Reale for the review sample seen here. 19. ROYAL MODEL 1:35 Zombies and Zombies Hunter (€12 each – the half zombies is 10€) (Ref: 762, 764, 765, 769, 770) Available from Royal Model Royal Model is a very well know name in the modelling world, specially for AFV/Dioramas models. There´s a brief history about Royal Model directly from Royal Model website: “Royal Model came into existence in the early 1990s in Catania (Italy) as a result of the passion that its founder, Roberto Reale, has always had for the world of art in general and of modelling in particular. After 20 years of business we can rely on a world-wide distribution organization, which leads us to believe that we have succeeded in making our products readily available even for customers who may not be able to find them in their own location.” This review is quite different for all I ever made and these itens are in the fashion wave of the zombies, certainly because of the “Walking Dead” serie. When I opened the box, I was in fact petrified with all the zombies. The box art of each one are quite good and really show the horror of the zombies. Lets see if the parts inside are in good castings and if they are morphologically and anatomically “perfect”. The most normal one is the zombie hunter (ref. 770 – man with the gun). The detail of the clothes and the gun are very good, all at Royal Model standard. But it’s the face I like the most. The guy is just having a big time killing zombies… for his face, you can tell that he has the perfect job. All the zombies do look like zombies. At last to me… I did not saw and I still don’t see the “Walking Dead” so sorry if I do some blasphemy about zombies looks. But I did saw some zombies movies and a zombie has its own anatomical defects of quality "zombies" disfigured faces, bulging eyes and crooked hands and slender fingers. Those are all in these Royal Model sets. The casting of the gray resin is flawless but bubbles here and there need to be fixed by the modeler with a little putty, but nothing that you can solve easy and fast. The devil in the details and that fits like a glove in Royal Models sets and these zombies are no exception. The face details are the more impressive ones… I just love their faces and all the zombiness on them and all the hate and hunger, hunger for blood. To compliment that, the characteristics of each of the professions that zombies exercised makes them even more realistic. For example, the nurse`s stethoscope and the newspaper and name tag on the white collar zombie. The torn clothes are also top noch of the detail and credibility of the zombies look. The one that really impressed me as the half-body zombie and precisely for that: half-body with the guts out and very skinny (all the ribs are there…) the resin detail and guts are quite impressive and it needs is a very good paintjob to “bring” them all out! Conclusion: All the figures are perfectly cast with sharp details and fantastic facial expressions. There are some bubbles on some of the figures that should be easy to deal with. I don’t know if there are zombies in resin besides these ones. All items are top noch in quality and for sure in originality. It will have market acceptance? Not sure… But you can do some fantastic and original dio with these ones HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Our sincere thanks to Royal Models and Roberto Reale for the review sample seen here. 20. Well, I`m a bit concern about the shipping cost to Portugal.... But I was quite happy to see that in EU the price is the same and it`s already in EU so no taxes... Anyaway, at the shipping cost show, it only be more cheaper to be already in the EU if you buy two and the combined shipping would be possible. James where do you see the stock level? Fran
  21. yup... and in future we will have sold out items in one warehouse and not sold out in other...For example if we need to buy for example in the US a sold item in Europe warehouse, paying more shipping and taxes or we can buy on Europe warehouse and then WnW will send from US warehouse or NZ HQ?
  22. A utterly fantastic review!! really nice plane!! Go for the Spanish scheme!! Fran
