1/48 Academy B25 Doolittle Raider - Complete - RFI
PanzerWomble replied to PanzerWomble's topic in Let’s Get Wet Group Build.
I like owning a Silhouette cutter, Max ( Mozart) suggested I get one a few years back and though I don't use it a huge amount it is satisfying not to be dependant on large decals at time . Used Araldite two part epoxy adhesive to fix on the tailplane and the wings as it's a lot stronger and robust than CA or Styrene glue , and this things heavy . Rock hard in 5 mins too . Thats all for now . Weathering so far has all been mechanical , scrubbing with 3000 pads, using X-20A and micro fibre cloths. It's a bit of an experiment for me , as the plain olive drab for me is really boring to look at. Probably a bit OTT for a Doolittle raider but we will see where this goes . -

1/48 Academy B25 Doolittle Raider - Complete - RFI

Bit more movement , complete the fuse mostly. Academy give you a bunch of masks and numerous canopies, which would be handy if you mess one up and could live with the slight difference. AM seemed so close to making a J model looking at the sprues , just need a modded fuselage from what I can see . So black for the frames ...then aluminium all over ..then olive ..... Wing fit is good so reckon complete most of this and join them towards the end . -

Ok time to pick this one back up and complete another SOD . To be fair two days after the last post in this thread we moved home ...which stopped play for about 3 months, so it was more "there are no shelves to put anything doomed or otherwise" -

I must say that type of modelling doesn't spark joy for me . Link n length, metal..... ever decent wubber bands ....but no way will I countenance numerous pieces just to make a link . -

Sticking a fork in this one . Overall ....ok-ish ...this old Hasegawa (2003) is not a slick as the older tool from them for the Phantom (1987) . Personally not convinced with the gun smoke staining but in the end with was a practice job to try out MRP paint and continue with OPR practice. Make you realise what a big bird the Skyraider was . All this leads up to the final model of the Vietnam 3 ..... -

Cheers - I later found this pic where they look a biot higher ?? so no sure at all now. Im aware the French ones apparently went higher because their carriers were smaller. The Navy seem to keep their planes cleaner than the Marines as well lol ! -

At the basic paint stage ...minor detail painting and the ordinance to follow ...but first ....let loose the oils and the reference pics !. Does that wing look high ? In no F8 expert -

Hawker Tempest Mk. II MW763 First Flight

I started with a old Typhoon and was going to take parts off the SH Tempest to glam it up a few years back ...That idea got shelved and have just completed a Tempest on it's own as part of a GB on LSP . It's on the RFI section on this forum ...leaving me with the old Revell Typhoon to make one day.....shortly to be on it's way to PENN USA ... -

Fascinating , seems like a bad luck aircraft if the waterpark that bought it went bust , Do you remember the old Lightning at the side of A1 for many years ? -

Done most of the decaling on the starboard side (barring the stencils) , also started on the ordnance. Kit Zuni's and Hasegawa MK82 dumb bombs on a multiple carriage. I bought a bunch of these weapons kits a while ago , before realising they all date from the 1980's and aren't as good as I'd hoped . Still impressed with the way that nose decal bends in 14 different radia . ! The framing needs touching up ...shhhh. -

Jadlam had them on clearance when i bought mine , it was cheap.... £28 maybe ? ...which is pretty good value . I tend to trawl their clearance section once a month to look at any bargains , plus their rewards system is about the only one I know worth signing up to . -
