  1. Lived near Holmfirth 15 years ago , BBMF Lanc used to fly up the valley , over Ladybower Res and then turn right for Scamptom . My guess the guy piloting it was haiving the day of his life, and why not ?
  2. Thanks for taking the time for such a deep dive on the model . It looks a big aircraft for sure, and I'm not sure I'd ever get the urge to build it . My observation is that the canopy look a bit thick ?, is this the case or just the light on the photo ?
  3. Just use the ignore button to filter out comments from people you think are throbbers ?
  4. Some nice people there as well who I still miss , and some very talented folk too . The treatment of Maru, and the apparent indifference of the owners regarding all that, was what made me decide not to support them anymore. Clearly DGAF . A sad end after being there for 12 years on and off . It's "only plastic toy aircraft FFS ".....ain't that the truth .
  5. In the UK FEDEX pay the highest rates per drop ( did in 2017) , and therefore get the best drivers ....Herpes ...sorry now EVRI pay the lowest . Go figure.
  6. FYI I don't buy bought in washes - always use oils just the way I was raised I guess.😁 I can make just what I want in small amounts . Most washes are burnt umber and or black . Pin washes I make up a variety of colours out of a small Daley and Rowney oil paint set I bought a while ago . If that peaks interest I can 100% recommend watching Evan Panzermeister36 , young but talented I use general purpose turps / white spirit , I'm not bothered by the smell . This liquin is thick - it's a medium , just using it for it's properties to make a better wash . I was thinned down with turpz . I tried 'wet on wet' with a prewash of turps but it was drying too quick , hence the wash is a bit heavy. First time out using it .
  7. When collecting failed deliveries from Royal Fails depot in the UK (open 2 hours a day only now...I ofter ask , which bit of my address ..... "Guy *** , Please leave in black box , etc " ............they struggled to comprehend. And its a big box next to the front door.
  8. Moved onto the wings , generally ok , but the engine nacelles need profiling / filling etc at the front and the rear...we're getting there slowley .
  9. Making a start ..... Fit is generally ok . Detail is a lil heavy . I remembered I made the Revell Monogram B25 in 1/48 about 15 years ago ....very rivetty was my only recollection . This is subtler than than on the surface. A fair few ejection pin marks although most will never be seen again . Interior banged together , need to finish the cockpit & zip it up . Don't forget the 30 grammes in the nose. .... Theres a lot of detail , none to be seen later ....but you feel obliged to put in ...I mean they went to all that bother . Probs a bit over weathered for a Doolitle raider, but want to try out oil washes using this as a medium . ChuckW recommend it on TOS. Smooths the oils out and makes it all less grainy. I concur , though it also sets quicker . Black brown .....a softer brown would have worked better in this one . Toned down using a light grey acryllic wash and so here we are after a Saturday .
  10. It was back in the 1960's when the RAF wanted the F-111 and the RN wanted new carriers (CVA01) to replace Ark Royal and Eagle. Basically, the RAF said that they could provide a Royal Navy Task Force with Air Defence Cover pretty well anywhere in the world. But, with the then current fighters the RAF had there was a nice big gap in the Indian Ocean. So rather than telling the truth - god forbid - the RAF moved Australia west 500 miles. All ended up being pointless as Labour told both the RAF and the Navy to get stuffed and bought neither F-111 or CVA01. Fast forward to 1982 , the RAF still couldn't support the Falklands task force and so it was left to the FAA and new untested SHARs to do the job. To be fair they took some RAF GR3s along for the ride.
  11. Battle Britain Memorial Flight - Lancaster , couple of Spitfires and Hurricanes . Light Blue propaganda flight . Also possibly the last RAF aircraft types to have achieved an air to air victory over an enemy aircraft . Barring a Jaguar shot down by a Phantom in 1982 ( own goal ) the RAF have not shot down an enemy aircraft since WW2🤣 ....Fleet Air Arm on the other hand . Did you know the RAF famously moved Australia 500 miles West in the 1960's ?
  12. I think both of the RAF's aircraft will do the flyover .....
  13. Will watch it as it is kinda history in the making, but getting into the smoke tomorrow will be an absolute omnishambles with transport and security. TBH since Kahn took over London and started charging £12.50 a day to drive inside the M25 outer motorway ( 20 miles out )....I've given it a pass and it's only 40 minutes away .
  14. Love Skyraiders, they manage to be Fugly and beautiful at the same time . Look really nice completely Vietnamesque beaten up and wings drooping with ordnance. A real bomb truck . Did the Airfix one back in the 80's , might have to have a crack at another in a bigger scale at some point . I like the working wing idea Peter , hopefully it will work for you .
  15. I reckon the only way to tackle a large 1/200 would be to break it down and have a few bouts separated by therapy and normal modelling ,rather than try to do the whole lot in one go . 1/350 was not as big or as easy as I thought it might be .
  16. Thats a real silk purse from such a bad kit . And you've knocked it outta the park . Having had a try myself recently ,not for me - I salute you , it's really good .
  17. Might translate out of the UK .. Selfridges is a posh shop in London , kind of "Karen" bait .
