  1. Oops yes , you're right there. Was thinking more armour stuff, track guards , stowage bins, grills etc.
  2. Disagree buddy . You can scratch to scale as well . I'm also dubious about a lot of PE sets as my pal Simmerit points out..... a lot of the Eduard ones for armour are often pure fiction. 🤣 Still it's only glueing bit of plaaaaaztik together after all . I need to get back to my FJ1200 restoration at some stage.
  3. I watch Drachinifel ....I wasn't surprised at the colours 🤣 ... the silk purse you've made out of a sows ear however is shocking !!!
  4. Thanks for the tip that's golden 👍. I find PE a PITA , often preferring to make stuff from styrene sheet or copper sheet , both of which are easier to work I called it a night and did some sea stuff instead . Nice white styrofoam .....cut boat hull shape ....rough swell cut with a knife, and then the wakes planned out . Final rough shaping using a gas lighter with melts the foam naturally rather than leaving cut marks . Rolled with a rolling pin to even out . End stage one ! Thank you Chris Flodberg for this method.
  5. Anyway , I am not enjoying this build that much🥺 ....most of how I approach things doesn't want to play . It's all to damned small and fiddly , like 1/72 nonsense . So here were are , built up numerous bits of superstructure . Painted them ..oh ..3 or 4 times . Painting square portholes ...who knew ? Glued it all to the hull , and then a couple of washes because nothing I make needs to be clean or pristine . So paint all the small bits , glue them on, enjoy the PE railings and we're done yeah ??? Hmmm let's see. I'm with Neitsche today ..
  6. Yes I forget occasionally , nations divided by a common language and all that ! I really didn't want to fork out for a big Hood or Scharnhorst before finding out I hated ships .
  7. Genuine 2K would be total overkill for a shelf model IMHO . I spray motorcycles in it because it set hard .
  8. If thats toluene based ( what we would call cellulose in the UK ) based , won't it risk strip of your existing paint ? Tried looking it up on line but it was vague as to the carrier . +10 on Spoon painting !
  9. With that filling it can make you need the toilet run in under three parsecs ........
  10. Ah .....so thats how it's done ! 😀The instructions are next to useless for a build sequence that makes any sense . Never seen them live, one of my daughters did about 10 years ago , said much the same . I loved all the furore about their recent Deutschland release. Thats was the one you chose to start of modelling again ???? Not a 1/72 aircraft or some old Tamiya tank....?? Outstanding ...more pix please. haha... you shouldn't drink during ship building. I grew up in Plymouth and worked in the Dockyard for a while I can categorically state that is not the case 😆 Zerstorer just means "destroyer" 😀 Me too , so I cheated and bought a small cheap ship just in case it went Pete Tong .....hence won't be making a $30 model into a $100 model with lots of extras .
  11. End for tonight then . All the superstructure is loose fitted. Reckon build it up into decent sized subassemblies , paint them , add the details then fit to the hull . And then the railings???? ? oh and try to paint modulate as you go along . Argggghhhhh all so much more fiddly than tanks .🤯esp after a bottle of wine .
  12. I reckon Garys done a pretty good job with the kit parts , which seem to be living up to the expectation for sure . There's always YAHU , if you can't live without .
  13. Cheers - I would be so tempted . I know people modify the Tamiya one but it's a huge amount of work . Whine Mode on British jets are well under represented in 1/32 , the Lightning is crap , no Spey Phantom , Sea Hawk , Jaguar or SHAR , Buccaneer only if you want to shell out millions on the obscure Icelandic kit , the Revell Hawk is an ancient and frankly an anaemic subject. I guess there is the new TONKA , the old Hunter and some Euroblanders ...meanwhile somewhere in China they are making yet another new tool bf109 or fw190 release .....or wow... another Gigant .....coz that was a huge gap in the range that people were clamouring to buy ....FFS . . It's only Airfix, if they could get their heads out their asses with 1/32 as a concept, that would probably take them on now . They know their releases of those subjects in 1/72 and 1/48 sell well so .... jeez they are even doing a Gannet ??? & not like there are shortage of subjects to go scan . OK This was once only , and on my thread ...... 🤕 Whine Mode off
  14. Mother Womble always wanted a son called Panzer ....🤣 There used to be a Fallschirmwomble out on the early internet as well ( nothing to do with me though, maybe a distaff cousin 😆) . My name is quite unique so have kept it off the internet for 25 years, I like my privacy .
  15. I know right - crazy decals!!! from memory it was about 10 applications over a couple of days to get there .
  16. When I've built this one the crazy amount of Microsol needed to get the roundels on the undersides of the wing to conform to those "bumps" .....scheeez!!! Yours look to have turned out great - bravo .
  17. Thanks for the useful thoughts . Pe railings are in the kit so a given, as is the radar . Doing a lot of PE replacement is not a thing that interests me with this build though , small steps , your Arizona build is not where I'm at today Being build number 1 in 1/350 , this is test to see if I can produce something I'm happy with .... it might still end up being a lawn dart. I'll build on skills with subsequent build it it floats my boat. ..see what I did there ? So mask.... paint... mask ....paint .....mask ...pain ...doesn't use up much paint though .
  18. For me , all the way from Taiwan in 6 days , Bronco's Brit AFV crews. As with most of my Bronco experiences , the moulding are quite heavy, but will be interested to see if that gives a better or worse definition to the finished figure. Some nice poses and mix of uniforms , even down to an arm division badge .
  19. Thanks Rob -a good call as there a no folk onboard , though will 90% go with seascape though as reasonable ok with making them . North Sea storm or calm Fjord ....? If I drill out the portholes what next ? Leave them as holes or back them on the inside with something black ? Made a base & hot melted it together should allow me to work on it without moving it around
