  1. Indeed , now its sadly squished into a corner of the airfield Yes I know
  2. Agreed , very similar the two companies . I did the Miniart Dingo, a great model but very small for the part count .
  3. Base got hit with static grass , flocks and scatter . Now for the resin , first a cover / seal coat , dried 24 hours , then the main pour. Right leave all that to cure for 24 hours and then can move on . Happy how this went .
  4. After all that dried it was dry brushed with grays and buff for the rock faces . Looks odd at first but you just have io keep on .The colours were added to until I got to a point where I was happy.
  5. Ok so why bring this up now , this is old news right ? So having had a bit of a mare with the last resin work I wanted to get straight back on the horse and see if I could do better So , some nicer Styrofoam the white not grey . Much easier to work Lining the bed with AL foil . This maybe overkill , but resin leaching into the foam even after sealing with PVA is a major source of bubbles irritations that you can't stop once you've poured. I follow a few "Maker" channels on Youtube, a lot of whom do fantasy stuff ....I'm happy to learn where ever. So tried this trick , cast plaster of Paris into rolled up foil tray to get a rock surface .....genius if an old trick ! Eh .....whatcha think ? Hot melted in place Blended using Sculptamold which I've used for a while , basically wood pulp and plaster mix. Railway people use it a lot . Then all painted in a PVA/Black paint mix to seal it all up and black base it . Left for 48 hours to harden up .
  6. A couple a years ago I built Bronco's rather nice Humber Scout Car . I like Bronco , the complexity is nice but not overwhelming , the seem to like doing odd British subjects no one else goes near , and the moulding are good . I did their Comet around the same time , before Tamiya brought theirs out last year. As with a lot of my 1/35 , if it's a keeper ( normally for a couple of years or so ) they don't get a diorama as I deliberately restrict my display space to stop over proliferation . A lot of what I build esp German stuff goes up for sale quite quite, as I like building rather than collecting . I figure if I miss it I can build it again but probably better. Anyhow .. The Scout car as it was . See - nice mouldings , even the rubber tyres .
  7. Pre ordered tickets only . Kinda tempted been a good few years since I saw any of these run . Sadly no more runway fast taxi runs Anyone fancy a meet up for some Kerosene sniffing ? https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cold-war-jet-open-day-bruntingthorpe-tickets-516212695067?aff=eand&fbclid=IwAR1rx_n2TMg8Zlrqoiocsw43rZtCPOUFMv76syQIoAA81OPNjhv9yCBfxVI
  8. All the plot subltety of Rambo but in Finland, supposed to be a good laugh, I've not found an English version to watch .
  9. I'm with Marie Kondo ....do this kit bring me joy .....? If the answer is no , then it gets eBayed and gone to someone else to enjoy . I sold my small stash of 1/72 aircraft last year as I decided I hated modelling 1/72 after a couple of kits. Some were quite nice as well . Don't feel guilty if you don't like your stash , change it . Hell , it's your pleasure & hobby . πŸ˜€
  10. If you haven't been already , can I recommend the De Havilland Musuem as a sheer joy of a day out ? More Mossies than anywhere else , so good we went twice in 2021! They let you get very up close , and the volunteers are wonderful . I've the 1/48 Tamiya Mossie I bought there last visit ...might have to give it a roll πŸ˜€ https://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk
  11. Cheers - and says the conscientious man filling injection marks inside a Walrus πŸ˜€ ??? that's way beyond my patience ! for the blue I mixed Tammy XF2 and XF8 in a cup till it matched references in one of my books . Couldn't decide about the surround , I went with white circles , but some pics they also appeared more pale cream . I'm no expert so reckoned both worked and went with white.
  12. Ye gods ....finally got this over the line . Learnings are .......plan the base better and use resin with caution . TBH if I hadn't posted it on here it probs would have been lawn darted . Anyhoo - it's finished - @Martinnfb can I please enter this as part of the group build as Maarti's 109 is certainly wet ?πŸ˜‡ "Five Minutes behind".....Russians hunting downed Finn pilot , Karelia 'winter 43-44 .
  13. They also did this one many years ago πŸ˜€
  14. I'd like this as day job, I also have a friend who restores tanks in the UK ...
  15. Crazy insane and wonderful in equal segments . Half term here meant less modelling for me as wife was home all week and there was stuff to do apparently !
  16. Yes Flory washes ......we've all tried them ...when they are nice they can be very nice ...and when the go wrong they kill NMF and decals very quicklyπŸ˜€ I like dirty birds so have passed off the hit and miss results as heavy petting weathering . Good that you persevered though.....unless I really CBA ... I like trying something new as often as I can . I thinks it's all part of the hobby , even failures teach something .
