  1. Soiry kids is a wah story from 2016 . The Rotherham Bugle is a pisstake blog ...from the "about us " We decided to launch The Rotherham Bugle after identifying a fundamental problem with other news based media covering the South Yorkshire area – they are restricted by a requirement that they stick to reporting on things that actually happened. And here’s the problem with that – what actually happened tends to be boring. And so from the very start, we made an editorial decision to give facts a back seat. Yes, you may find a grain of truth hidden away somewhere, but it’s more by accident than design. If you do find something that’s true, don’t judge us too harshly. Anyone can make mistakes. Our primary focus is on stuff that we’d have liked to happen, had a story taken a more interesting turn. They’re the sort of things that might occur to you in the bath, on the bog or while sitting in your car waiting for the sodding lights to change at Whiston Crossroads. Any similarity between the style and content of our stories and those featured in mainstream media, is purely intentional. We hope you enjoy our alternative take on the news affecting people in Rotherham, and if there are any stories you feel we should be covering, we’d be delighted to hear from you. https://www.rotherhambugle.com/about-us/ Funny regardless.
  2. Wonderful , so simple and yet so elegant and expertly executed .
  3. Fun fact if you ever get over to Normandy - the D-Day experience museum near Caretan has a full size flight simulator based on a C-47 chassis , where you get to "experience" flying into normandy on D-Day. Sounds naff I know, but after 2 mins we found ourselves 100% "in the zone". It is at Dead mans Corner where the US 101st and the Falshirmjeager battled it out for three days to capture the hotel https://dday-experience.com/en/
  4. Ok I've genuine kit envy there .....I love Takom's desings even if they are never quick builds .
  5. Look pretty handsome from where I'm sat, great finish to an older kit , and again love the Voodoo, esp in this interesting cammo scheme. 😀 1985 tooling , when 1/48 meant upscaled 1/72 mostly , raised panel lines et all ....and compared to 2022 tooling .....we've come a long long way in under 40 years
  6. & this is a new tool from 2017 .....? It's a real shame to me that Airfix don't go the extra 25 yards , because they clearly thought about providing some inside details. I also don't believe that their moulding company in India hasn't access to decent tooling designers , so whats going on ? Rant over - you are are far better man than I, Mike to fill all that in. I had a look around the Walrus at the FAA museum last year , they were really interesting aircraft.
  7. It's just beaucoup de masking tape and your sanity after all , what could possibly go wrong 😀 Be outstanding if you could pull it off though.
  8. Really like that , the effect you've achieved with the paintwork is awesome . It's also bang on the money to your reference pic. 👍 Great work ! Looking forward to seeing your Finnish build too .
  9. The Dead South..... today ...seeing them on the UK leg of their tour in October. 😀
  10. Appreciate the encouragement Peter , however .... Life's too short to muck around putting lipstick on pigs 😁 All the angles and sizes are wrong for what I want to achieve with this diorama . TBH the scatter size is not the main issue. There's only about $15 worth of foam material there , so really not worth investing more time in that particular one . We'll call it a practice ! It happens sometimes, I just rarely post failure on the internet . Watch this space as I have a weeks holiday coming up !
  11. Ah wondered how long before we arrived at Thomas and Laser Creation World.😁 His current love of half ton resin work has been interesting, and not always sucessful . I've followed (and occasionally copied / been inspired by ) his work for a long time , in my opinion he is one of the most creative modellers around . A lot of his work these days in post apocalypse , gives you more licence I guess.
  12. This is shaping up nicely. I bought one back in 2017 and was a bit in awe of it on opening the box. The last 1/48 Tomcat I tried building was the 1988 Academy one about 20 years ago , which was so poor ended it up getting binned . My pal convinced me that "I hated building aircraft" which was kind of true at the time and should sell it on .....which I've since regretted. Your build is getting my interest back in tackling this one again .
  13. You shot down their balloon , now you're asking for nice stuff .....just saying .
  14. Cheers Maru For me - They are just going to end up as traded shelf queens I feel . I doubt there will be more than one run , and they will be on eBay for $5K in a few years. For anything that price.......... I'd expect to drive it home 😁 A few nutjobs will no doubt build them, but beyond "look at me I'm big" I'm not sure there is a lot to say for it as a subject . 2m by a meter .....I wonder how much bracing it will take to stop it falling apart under it's own weight . Something for people who feel size is everything perhaps? & without wishing to be contentious a 1/35 version would have given far better options on payload, figure etc. Mind you overly large models is HpH's thing , somebody somewhere will love it.
  15. Nice recovery , PE or home brewed props ? . TBH building Airfix generally deppresses me too ....I want to like their new stuff but it always seem to underdeliver for me . It's like you can feel they could do better, but just a frightened to let go of the nostalgia toy legacy . Odd that Hornby went 100% towards new technology and reinventing itself as a serious contender in the train world ( although going bust in the process ...) Probably a lesson here somewhere !
  16. On lighter note , thought I'd make some trees. Have made many pines before given my Ardennes obsession , thought I would make some birches , again scale is my enemy . Starts with flower arranging wire - this stuff is cheap, awesome and huge number of uses to me . I'm surprised the model manufacturers are not selling it yet as "speshul modelling wire" with a 500% mark up ! Twisty twisty , then painted with a few layers of Tamiaya white. I've used Milliput before for larger trees, it's ok , but the transitions from trunk to branch can be difficult as it can be thick. So that's enough said for now , there's more on the way, but of that ................another day.
  17. And the end result .....frankly was crap ....and so it was launched to bin . Ground cover way overscale , no slope to the lake so the resin pour will look silly, bank too short . Yup it's bin fodder. Not even convinced that the rectangle shape is the way to . So now awaiting more foam . My other beef is that the grey and blue XPS sheets I have are tough as boots and very hard to work , and expanded polystyrene is very dodgy for resin, so trying something else .
  18. Since my plan is clearly obvious , this is what I have been up to over the past few days . Mapping out the diorama using graph paper - I find this really handy as you can measure once and record , rather than keep checking . The pencil was foreshadowing the outcome however . Cutting Foam on my Proxxon ...I just love their tools. Quick check .....hmm not 100% sure, although me trying to work in 1/48 and not 1/35 is confusing , as all my groundwork is in the larger scale and I have a much better feel for proportions Pressing on........ it's all glued to a base of expanded polystyrene because that is nice and light , then I use a lighter / soldering torch to selectively melt the foam to kill any straight parts. Then made an edge with iron on veneer , skimmed it with builders fillers, and given it a few coats of diluted PVA as a sealer . Next . sprinkled this and used ballast freeze for the base layer of ground, added headnod to Saving Private Ryan ....
