Thanks Ernie, should give me enough time to hit the line.

Yes, thanks to everyone who works to keep this all on the go, the new updates look good. As Ernie says being able to upload straight is great and saves having to deal with all the third party sites.

Arado 234 Nachtigall on Speed

Interesting reaction with the masks Rob. I had a similar problem on the P-47 I did using Maketar masks with the Extreme Metals. They were vinyl masks but again left a residue on the Aluminium paint which I just couldn't remove. Similar to you they were only down for about 24 hrs but that was long enough. -
GB Award for modeling greatness decided

Another week would be great. Life has really got in the way the last couple of weeks and I haven't really got anything done but I just need to flat coat and attach all the extraneous bits and I'll be done. -
Looking great Tom. Glad to see the appropriate refreshments to hand as well.... 😁

My Airfix 1/24 scale Typhoon

Don't worry you're not alone. I had fits getting everything aligned at that stage - lots of sanding and putty required! -
What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

If Charlie likes the port as much as his Gran he might end up with that complexion! -
Very sorry to hear that Ron. Hope you and your wife find the strength to get through this.

Have I mentioned how much I love lacquer paints?
GusMac replied to ScottsGT's topic in Modelling Discussion
I also like the Tamiya lacquers although the colour range is definitely limited compared to others. The AK Real Colours range is pretty good as well although they are acrylic lacquers, similar to the Tamiya acrylics. -
My Airfix 1/24 scale Typhoon

I'd go tear drop and uncovered as I'm not so keen on the car door variant and it seems a waste to cover all that nice detail on the cannons -
Reckon that would be about the same size as the cool little biplane TJ posted over in the 'My other hobby' thread!

"Alert 1 to Eagle 1, splash the Zeros!"- Tamiya F-14
GusMac replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in Let’s Get Wet Group Build.
Hi Carl, I'd noticed this as well. The Tamiya 1/48 kit calls out all the control surfaces in white but the pictures I'd seen had all grey upper surfaces so I went with that as it fitted better with the weathering I was aiming for. Seems to be a moveable feast just depending on the exact time frame you're aiming for. -
Lots on TOS including from the guy who's developing it. Sounds like he's maybe bitten off more than he can chew though as by the sounds of it there isn't much of the donor kit that doesn't need replaced.

How they paint those thin lines for the spray patterns is insane!

Looks good Carl. As a matter of interest what do you thin the Mr Aqueous Surfacer with? I like the lacquer based version but my wife hates the smell so if this works as well then I might change. -
Best I've had was a Sparrow for the 1/32 Tamiya F15C which fell victim to a wandering Jack Russell. I say Jack Russell but I think he's actually an ambulatory bin as he'll try and eat anything. Thankfully he seems to have guts of cast iron as he's eaten a few things that should have done him real harm and just bounced straight through it.

Thanks fellas. It is a lovely kit Carl, goes together so well that you can just concentrate on the painting and detailing. I'd love a modern 1/32 one but I'm not sure I could cope with all the rescribing that you're doing on the big one.

Looks great Tom. The Stirling always did look as though you needed a head for heights sitting in the cockpit, so the stance looks just right.
-
Thanks fellas. Just progressing slowly through painting of all the ancillary stuff ready for final assembly.

Great photos. That Police dog looks like it's keeping a close eye on you!

I only have a finite amount of display space Phil, so 48th just works better for the big jets now. I'm loathe to throw out some of my old 32nd jets as there the first things I did when I returned to the hobby but I might have to bite the bullet.

Doing the Tomcat has given me a bit of a push to do more carrier based aircraft. Always fancied the A6 but just didn't have room for a 1/32 version. So picked this up for a good price on Amazon of all places with a voucher I got for my birthday. Seems to be regarded as one of the better efforts out of the Trumpy/HB stable and gets better reviews than the Kinetic version, we'll see.

Thanks all, it is pricey for a 1/48 kit but you do get your money's worth and a nice build where everything just fits is refreshing once in a while. Rob, those are the kit decals. It doesn't say on them who printed them but they do seem better quality than any Tamiya ones I've used before, so I suspect they've outsourced it to someone like Cartograph.
