  1. Started work on the Vacuform canopy. The windshield is amazing. Perfect fit. Sturdy and super clear.
  2. Time to Pick this up. Attached the wings to the fuselage and started to replace lost rivets and panellines. The extended slats really add some drama to the wings. Love it.
  3. Attached the wings. Just smeared some putty in preparation of sanding the seam away. My gut feeling is to deepen the panel lines, but i won’t since in reality these were puttied away. As a matter of fact i might not even use panelliner wash
  4. Tiny steps. The glass nose is getting better and better. I might even vacform the pilot’s canopy hood. The engine is a perfect fit. So far so good!
  5. That’s right! I replaced the less common mk101 cannon for the more common mk103. Also have a complete mk101 round
  6. A really quick cleanup from the supports. These are very delicate and it’s easy to snip off wiring that needs to stay. Really impressed with the detail! The inlet cone is much slimmer (and more correct) than the Trumpie one. Only way to use it is to: buy two engines, or… 3d print another one myself.
  7. Getting a bit more confident. Vacformed the left side of the nose.
  8. Today the PETG sheets arrived. Tried them in the vacform machine and after 3 tries there was success. If you heat the sheets for a little too long, it all turns white. Now adding the internal framing. The nose cone halves will be the most difficult. If it all fails i will do my best to shine up the MDC resin ones’ and still use those. We’ll see.
  9. Just found this in the stash. Gifted by a very dear friend. A piece of aluminium. Not sure what plane it came off, but i can find out. Maybe i should build a U3 version ad well one day. You know? The photo recon version with the big blisters on the nose.
  10. Started adding internal detail to the inside engine covers. The bombsight bracket has been fixed and the sight is a perfect fit.
  11. Well.. i know. But MDC is not an eighties or nineties brand. Every single part needs to be recarved or remade. They include one part double, but both are dreadful. This could and should not have passed quality control. I’m not a whiner and I will never say anything is unbuildable, but I pay good money for these sets and expect a little bit more. Rant over. Now I’ll fix it.
  12. Sure does!
  13. I always print parts in different angles and usually about 6 so i can pick the best. Really annoyed with the MDC castings. The bracket holding the bombsight looks crap as well. I spent almost an hour carving away blobs of resin. Apart from that the detail is pretty basic as well. Redrawing, scratching every part is getting silly.
  14. Preparing the engine gondola. Cut out the top panel and thinning the walls considerably. also cutting out the latches. Next up the inner detail of the walls.
  15. Thnx guys. Well. The MDC resin Lofte-7D bombsight is a mess. Every single part looks liked chewed out gum. I started cutting back detail and then decided I was quicker 3D drawing and printing it. Getting there. About 50% done on the drawing.
  16. While going through some stuff i stumbled on this electric regulator from a 262. Forgot i had it. It has the werk nummer on it too. Might do some research on it.
  17. Thnx Hubert! All very helpful. While waiting for the PETG sheets, I decided to move to the Jumo 004. Got a whole lot further with the 3D drawing and then found this from FPW Works. Bought this just now and this will save me a whole lot of time
  18. The resin transparent parts are the only parts not to have suffered shrinkage. I will try to use the nose dome parts as a master to make new ones.
  19. Just ordered the Vivak sheets from the USA. Thanks again!
  20. Thank you! I was looking for PETG and will continue to do so. Thanks for the advise!
  21. Another test run. This time with 0,2mm pvc. Waaay better. Need to polish the masters even more and take better care not to let dust or particles to get between the pvc and master.
