KevinM
Well got some white on the spinner as a backdrop for the red and went on the hunt for seams found some in the tail ,behind the pit and the left wing all quick.I am thinking of going closed canopy on this something about the shape lends itself to that direction? That's all for a couple day methinks work starts back up tomorrow.
Peterpools
Kev Nice progress and glad you found those pesky, lurking seams. Close or open canopy - how about half way? Keep 'em comin Peter
KevinM
Actually Peter the quality of the clear pieces in the kit are very very high even without the dip very clear.I need to show a side view later it has a unique shape like any other a/c.

I don't know, I'm not an expert, but seeing pictures it seams the yellow tips have been added only to several restored Yak's. I couldn't spot them on random historic pictures. But sometimes, yellow appears very blackish on old B&W film, especially with the often used yellow or red filters. Cheers Rob
KevinM
Not sure about the blue some chips showed a darker blue than what is in DocRob's pic and contemplated before I decided on this blue going RLM78 but the chips were a little darker maybe not this dark?I for the second time used blue tac and once again not satisfied with the results the edges were sometimes not dark enough in spots and the tac left like a grease line in the paint in a couple of areas.I had to go back by freehand and redo every single Dk.Gull grey line and some of the Light Ghost Grey for the grease line.I should have just freehand the plane my usual method. She is glossed with future give it a day or two before I come back. Added Russian Blue chip for reference from IPMS http://www.colorserver.net/showcolor.asp?fs=25466
Peterpools
Kev Cammo work looks mighty good. Blue tac does contain some oils which can stain the paint. I’ve been using the white color version and no issues at all. Keep ‘em comin Peter
KevinM
Some pics with decals applied.I should of looked further into the plane in the area of of the exhaust but they need to protrude a little more like 1/32-1/16" I filed with a medal file some on one side to no avail but it needed more. The exhaust sat back from the inside just a little but I could not get closer without feeling I might ruin something The decals have another few coats of future on them now this needs to dry I have silver stars that go over the stars for this crate and they did not play well last night sliding around hint the gloss now slide on that.
Martinnfb
A quick note , Yak-3U pictured above, has nothing to do with the original Yak-3 besides its looks. It is a Yak-11 or its derivate Letov C-11 built in Czechoslovakia under licence, that was modified to single seater and retrofitted with inline Allison maybe Klimov engine. Its original engine Svetsov M-82FM was probably used to build a Fw-190N. Cheers Martin 4

KevinM
A fella on another forum asked anything on the pilot? So using what they supplied with the kit the only other thing I found was that all the kills were against the FW-190. The pilot of White 15 was a LT Semyon Ivanovich Rogovol who accrue 5 victories in this plane all against the formidable FW-190.He was assigned to the 64Guards Fighter Regiment(GIAP),4 Guards Fighter Division (GIAD),2nd Baltic Front,Autumn 1944.The plane was presented to LT Rogovol by sailors of Amur River Flotilla in the Far East. I did a search of his career but the only little nugget I found was all the kills were FW-190's a well developed a/c in 1944/45. Now the idea worked brilliantly if I may add sliding over the Future and not the decal.Oh and what the camera finds trust me had reading glasses on and could not see the white in some you see Well onto the pics....the MG's well be tubing within tubing as well the pitot tube with one hydraulic line per leg.
