Thanks Peter, for all Dragon's instruction SNAFU’s their products are good. Just wish the cost of new kits from them was a little lower. A Tiger 1 with Zimmerit over here is over £80…….

Nice work on the Halbkette Phil. Lots of detail and I'm peeking at your staged painting approach. Dragon instructions, well, they are a test sometimes. i hate these blue gray painting instructions, that's so 80's.
The prices for Dragon kits are raising more than with other companies. I haven't bought Dragon for a while, but have many in stash. I think not one of them was a full price purchase, albeit new. Dragon kits often are available for a reduced price.

Thanks Rob much appreciated, I’ve probably only ever paid full price for one Dragon kit, I scour evil bay these days. Saying that a 1/35 Sexton II 25pdr SP Tracked went for £91.00 inc p&p which is unbelievable. I think the last three Dragon kits I picked were all around the £30.00 mark……….

Ok for people who like building workable tracks and for those who despise the process, have look at these……two parts per track link with 5 sprue gates to clean. The result is great though……..

You could avoid cleanup through heave weathering with mud, Phil .

Thanks Gaz, this is my first half track, it’s fun little project, trying to get my mind at out how to spray this with all the internal components etc…..I have the Famo also in the stash….

Good point Rob, done most weathering but haven’t got around to mud yet….I’d be undecided if to go for wet or dry….

I like a mix of both best, surely depending a dio setting. Wet mud for the tracks and some on the wheels after the application of dry caked mud onto the running gear.

I remember you using that technique on a build, any recommendations on “mud” suppliers……

I think you mean the Tankette build, but there is no real wet mud and I can't remember, which products I used. I can only quote myself from an older post.
 

Thanks Phil, I build up residues with mud / earth washes, with added pigments in different earth shades. I start with the darkest and as a last step, everything got blended with mineral spirit. This way the impression of build up residues becomes more 'real', as it flows more into the corners and hidden places, where dirt will always accumulates.

Open topped vehicles present a few more challenges than the average tank.  They always take me a bit more time.

Gaz, very very true, painting sequence goes out of the window. I have the Tamiya Famo and trailer on the horizon so that will new full 360 degrees painting and weathering…….

I watched a YT video of a fella doing the Tamyia half track and his painting was a bit different than mine for his effects but then again my wethering techniques are still in their infancy.looking good thus far.

Thanks Kevin, this is my first halftrack so it’s a different build process from a tank. This is a trial for the behemoth of the Famo but lest that has square side’s..

You are right! It has been extremely hot here this week except yesterday.

Hope that it soon is over. For me 25 degrees in summer would be enough.
