denders Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 After visiting with my brother on our recent trip, I got the idea to build this and give it to him. He likes the corsair. I thought I'd build it pretty much OOB. I might pick up some resin wheels. Probably one of the paint schemes in the kit, but I may make masks to paint the markings. See if I get it done in time for NATS, since we're going that way. 7
JohnB Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 If you are going to build a Corsair you couldn't have picked a better kit!!! A real nice kit that builds up well and will be a standout. I've built 16 of 'em! -1 Birdcage, -1A Framed Bubbletop and -1D Clear Bubbletop. Needless to say, I like the kits! 7

denders Posted April 21, 2023 Author Posted April 21, 2023 Well, I guess it's time to really get started. 🙂 These decals and some Tamiya paint came today. And the wheels were in the drawer. I'll see if I can drive myself crazy with the decals.🤪 8
Peterpools Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Dave Glad to see your Corsair is underway and will be following all the way. 1
denders Posted May 11, 2023 Author Posted May 11, 2023 I'm slowly making headway. Still working on the Barracudacals Cockpit stencil decals, right-side console to go yet. I did have wires attached to the wireway. In bending the first wire into place and placing the end at the cylinder head I managed to break it loose. While trying to place it, I broke two more loose. 😖 Soooo, I removed them all. 😡 I'm sure I can work out the wires to the front side of the front cylinders, but I haven't worked out how I'm going to place the other wires. I'm sure the wire I was using is too stiff for the purpose, so now to contemplate how I'm going to accomplish the task. Onward, lots to do! 10 1
denders Posted May 13, 2023 Author Posted May 13, 2023 Okay, wires are on, Yay! Now to paint them and touch up some other spots.😁 11
Peterpools Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Dave Nice progress and the ignition wires look mighty good.
DocRob Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Great work on the engine and cockpit parts, everything looks crisp and clean. For wiring, I use lead wire, which you can purchase from different companies, like PlusModel or Ask. I have an assortment of different diameters and they are supersoft and good to glue with CA. Cheers Rob 1
denders Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 Back at the Corsair and making headway. The stencil decals do add to the look. 10 1
BlrwestSiR Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Great looking engine and cockpit. I find doing the wiring on the engine to be quite the challenge. Yours looks nice and tidy. 2
Peterpools Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Right with the guy's Dave, the Big P&W and front office are looking mighty good. 1
denders Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 Ready to close up the fuselage. I like the results of the Barracuda cockpit stencils despite the work. Perhaps a Quinta cockpit for the next one. It worked out well in the Trumpeter F4U-4 I finished recently. 7
Peterpools Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Dave Awesome looking front office details and painting are top notch. Over the past year, I've become addicted to Quinta detail sets - so easy to use. 1
denders Posted June 3, 2023 Author Posted June 3, 2023 Keeping on moving. Now to paint some more parts. 7
denders Posted June 3, 2023 Author Posted June 3, 2023 Thanks Kevin. Yep. The aircraft with the yellow nose. Overlooked the P&W logo and added a data plate. 10
Peterpools Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 Dave Looking mighty good and nice to see you haven't missed any of the small details that really add up. Are you using the kit decals since you are going with the box art color scheme? 1
