Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 28, 2013 Administrators Posted December 28, 2013 Hi all, Here's my finished Me163B-1a in RAF colors. Based on these references: http://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/me163/vf241.htm In reality this particular captured example had it's MK108 cannons removed and also it's rocket engine. However: at what point this happened isn't to be found. This plane was being towed and tested as a glider. I used the Hasegawa Eduard PE set to spice things up. As all these parts seem to fit this kit really well, I can really recommend it. Also used the Master models pitot tube and added some missing details. All can be found here: http://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/1510-132-rocket-science-me-163-meng/ Here are the pics: 6
Administrators James H Posted December 28, 2013 Administrators Posted December 28, 2013 Done? Praise the lords! As always....superb looking work, and I really can't see why you were so concerned about how it would come out. Nothing wrong with that 1
repeater Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Excellent work. Really interesting history on this aircraft too.
Grant Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Very sweet build Jeroen! I must admit that it took me a few seconds to get used to the RAF markings on a Luftwaffe aircraft, but that was all for the better as it made me study it more closely. I love the subtle shading and scratches etc - beautifully done.
Wingco57 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Jeroen, I love it. No balkenkreuz shining through the roundel? Cees
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 28, 2013 Author Administrators Posted December 28, 2013 Jeroen, I love it. No balkenkreuz shining through the roundel? Cees you know! I actually forgot that! I can add it with a fine white pencil... Or I'll leave it as is... Darn...
DougN Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Looks terrific Jeroen! Congrats on a getting it finished! Regarding the roundels, I would leave it as is, since you have the guns, etc. still in, I would say that the model represents it's state just after it was repainted, and that the roundel fading happened later after more use and the guns were removed, etc. Doug 1

Building the Silver Wings Hawker Hart soon... I'm gonna need some pointers.
rieser Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Hello Jeroen. Enjoyed watching and learning from your build thread. Your finished model looks suitably forlorn. Lovely stuff. Cheers, Ralph. 1
Members Mikester Posted December 30, 2013 Members Posted December 30, 2013 You are a God among insects! Seriously though, great work! 1
Wingco57 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Hmm playing devil's advocate here. Never seen faded RAF roundels to the point that old markings shine throught. More a matter of badly or hastily applied roundels. Cees
Administrators Fran Posted December 30, 2013 Administrators Posted December 30, 2013 Fantastic work Jeroen! Not my favourite scheme but a great paint job and weathering!
ArnieC Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Jeroen, That is a great looking model. Cheers, Arnold
Timc Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Hey! Very nicely done and not your typical markings. I like the composition of your subject with the base, it gives the model a lot of class. Well done sir!
