Wow Carl, I have no idea about anime, but your freestyling conversion looks great. Nice scratch work and like PW said, everything fits design wise, hard to achieve, I guess.

Cheers Rob

Thanks Rob! I'm definitely not doing too much measuring which I guess is why it's been fun so far. Lots of  "cut here, whoops, try again"

Never knew either about anime but your conversion is looking simply brilliant.

I'm always amazed at how many projects you have going at one time - something I've never been able to do. :construction:

Thanks Peter! Not sure how I do it either. Keeps me sane I guess.

More work on the nacelle fairings. I sanded back the new fillets and got them faired in a bit smoother.

Then a skim coat of Tamiya white putty and another coat of primer.

They're a decent match to each other, the blending is much better so I think I just need to fill any imperfections and I can start on the lower half

Jimmy's reaction to all this was as expected, quite enthusiastic...

Thanks Martin!

I've barely made a dent in the tub of Apoxie Sculpt. There's maybe 12 grams of putty on this thing. We'll see how much I go through by the time I'm done.

At least the lower half is an easier shape.

Of course, nobody is going to complain about how accurate, or inaccurate your rendition of the nozzles is, but it looks to "squarish" to me, compared to the illustration of the film you have displayed : too flat on top and too small radius of the "corners". My use of the word "squircle" was the best representation of how it should look in my mind.

Or to say it in another way: whilst the YF-23 had a "flat" top for the engine nacelles, and relatively small radius corners, the F-22 has definitely a more "rounded" look to the engine nacelles and vectoring petals.

Just my two cents, of course ;)

Looking at the 1/144 model that I have (probably should have done that sooner), the top is definitely more rounded. On the actual F-15 Active, the nozzles were basically squared off. I think I've had that look in the back of my head this whole time.

At this point, I'm going to leave them as is.

What scale is he in ? 1/32 or 1/35 ?

To be honest, he's 1.8/1 if that makes sense. We hoped he was going to be a 60-70 lb dog but he decided to be an overachiever and is 115 lbs. On all fours, his head is well above the height of our dining table.

Back on topic, I've made a bit of progress on the Eagle.

MLG bays are glued in.

Which lets me add the fuselage sides. This are a bit fiddly but fit reasonably well.

Martin pointed me in the direction of a cheap Testor's YF-22 kit so I bought that for the engine nozzles. Just need to pick it up from the LHS. Hopefully that will save me a bit of time on the build.

Your dog is even sweeter than your build Carl, I guess, he has some other virtues than laying around and looking cute :D.

Cheers Rob

I got home from work today and Jimmy was on the couch fast asleep. He didn't even wake up when I came in. Just kept sleeping.
