DocRob Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Lots of car kits here lately. This beauty arrived today. The Williams FW16 from 1994. I know have three different scaled kits of the car, one in 1/12 scale, one in 1/43, these are from MFH and the new addition in 1/20. I really like F1 cars from the early nineties, post turbo era, preferable with a low nose design, like this one. I added some extras, like new decals with tobacco ads, carbon fiber decals and some photo etch. Cheers Rob 6
Landlubber Mike Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Nice pickup Rob! Those decals look pretty sweet. By the way I have you to blame for my growing MFH stash. There was a 1/12 Eagle Gurney-Weslake on eBay that went for under retail yesterday. I think the seller mislabeled the ad so it probably didn't attract much attention. I was looking at a different auction, and just happened to take a look at the seller's other auctions and couldn't believe my luck. 3 1
belugawhaleman Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Some stuff today......😀 From Tamiya two items purchased from EBAY. First their RUSSIAN ARMY TANK T72 M1 (35160) NIB parts sealed in bag. The box has an import label for "Borgfeldt (Canada) Limited" Never seen that before........might be a common sight for some on this forum😀 Also got this Gloster Meteor F.1 -V-1 (Fieseler Fi103) #61065 I know this kit had some problems, being based on a Museum aircraft example, but for $ 20 USD I didn't care. It's Sealed NIB . Update: The errors in the 1997 release (f3 wing) were corrected in this 1999 re-release.and lead to the release of the F3 variant by Tamiya....😀 Next some aftermarket stuff from the Brothers Sprue....... From Kelik, some 3d cockpit details for Tamiya's A-10A (RESK48132K). Look good. From Caracal Models, some decals for early A-10 warthogs. I also got some mask sets from Eduard and Montex. Also, after a month in customs in Chicago, got this "Egg Girl". And, before I had my coffee this morning, this creature was already at my back door begging to be fed......this squirrel thing might be getting out of hand 😐 Fed dozens of these little beasts today.....One peanut at a time.😀 2

They've got such a great relationship with Tamiya that we've often gotten new releases here before Japan even has. Case in point, one of the staff at my LHS has been building the new 1/72 F-14D kit which he showed me. The fit and detail is incredible for something so tiny. 1 1

Thanks Carl😀 Inside the box there's a form for the Tamiya Club of Canada membership. 1

Guilty as charged, Mike , I´m looking forward to your next (MFH) build. The Gurney-Weslake Eagle was in my sight as well, to my eye, the most beautiful of the cigar shaped racers, congratulations for that good deal. Cheers Rob 3
Spitfire Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Just been placed in my hands by the postie, not my usual scale but early war RAF subjects are a real interest of mine, I already have the ICM Beaufort. Cheers Dennis 5

Spitfire Posted Tuesday at 03:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:04 PM Well further news on the DSPIAE front, when my original one broke I sent away and got an AK version which turned out to be identical apart from the colour and the name on it but came with other stuff. At the same time as insurance I ordered a really cheap one from SHEIN (£9.86) straight from China just as a "punt", it duly arrived and this is what I got. And behold. It is the same as the other two but a lot cheaper. Cheers Dennis 5 1 1
BlrwestSiR Posted Tuesday at 06:41 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:41 PM Seems you have a full spectrum of them colour-wise there Dennis. 3
belugawhaleman Posted Tuesday at 08:25 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:25 PM This came in the mail.. It's a Sturmtiger from Tamiya (35177). Also got a set of zimmerit decals from DEF model. The kit has individual link tracks. I'm going to get started on this right away. The Def Model zimmerit looks promising. Anyway, I hope this is useful for some . However it goes I'll post build pictures. 2
BlrwestSiR Posted Tuesday at 09:57 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:57 PM The Tamiya Sturmtiger is a nice kit. I built it when it first came out. It was my first try at making zimmerit. It came out a bit thick but I was happy with it. The only complaint that I recall about the kit is that there is only a basic interior to it. I wasn't too concerned as mine was all closed up. 1

One restored ST has a simple flame-cut ring for the weight. Some show parts of the fenders missing. I think the subject allows many possibilities. A 1/16 version would be fun.😀 Paul 1

No wonder it’s not having a long life … Better buy the cheapest alternative then … Hubert 2

It's a shame - as the thing has huge hatches that scream 'nice interior' , otherwise it's kinda a 'brick on tracks '🤣 RFM made a full interior one c/w lift of top panel, but then you're in a whole different world of pain , and personally I don't like they way they do tracks with pins , so thats another $30 for Fruils . On the plus side they've offered post Sept 44 models in the boxing so you can skip the Zimm . 1

Tamiya reboxes of Italeri kits will include the Italeri logo on box cover. The italeri Sturmtiger was released after the Tamiya kit. 3
BlrwestSiR Posted Saturday at 01:39 AM Posted Saturday at 01:39 AM Another kit from Mad Max, this time it's March Hare's XA Interceptor. They're the ones who are initially chasing the Night Rider at the beginning of the movie. Now all they need to release is the Pursuit one driven by Big Bopper which from the box I suspect is coming. Martinnfb Posted Saturday at 07:52 PM Posted Saturday at 07:52 PM Kinda sad to brag about this, but with the current prohibition directed on the import of certain chemicals to Canadistan. This can is simply made of unobtanium. 4 2
belugawhaleman Posted yesterday at 12:09 AM Posted yesterday at 12:09 AM I have been trying to find the Tamiya red oxide primer.......always out of stock or unavailable... What gives? Also Mr Color character flesh......difficult as hell lately ! Glad you found what you needed Martin😀 1 1

This can is simply made of unobtanium. I can´t get any rattle cans to my island since years and paint only in jars, smaller than 30ml. There is only one Spanish mainland vendor, who smuggles stuff to my place, somehow. Therefore, I switched to Mr. Surfacer jars in different grades and colors and have to say, besides a little more clean up work with the AB, there are only benefits, better control, thinable to my liking with leveling thinner, less environmental pollution, ... Cheers Rob 4
belugawhaleman Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Mr Surfacer in bottles seems to be out of stock lately at many of my usual online suppliers at the moment---not sure why. I see it on Amazon at inflated prices however. I agree with Rob---spraying it thinned from bottles is much better than the cans, but finding the jars lately has been a problem. I find it sprays great through my .3 mm Iwata HP-c+ giving very smooth thin layers. I need a good oxide primer in bottles. I think Tamiya Dull Red might be close in color. Can never find the Tamiya Red Oxide--------Are there restrictions on this stuff? I did find a can of Mr Oxide Red spray , but I haven't tried it yet. 3
BlrwestSiR Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Mr Surfacer in jars is much easier to find in Canada. There's also Aqueous Mr Surfacer which I have used and not really noticed any differences in. Another good option is to check out some of the Gundam stores for stock. They tend to carry a fair bit of Gunze/Mr Color products. 1 1
