CrankyCrafstman
Hey Harv Hope you are doing better. Remember both those AHHQ Shermans are late, very late WW2 & Korean Shermans. I'm hoping that now that Andy has both the M10 & Achilles he will be coming out with an early M4A3 either the 75mm or the 76mm with the VVSS suspension. These would be more what you would have seen during the majority of the war. Ron G

Incidentally, Andy just posted a video announcing a big-scale Puma armored car from Das Werk ...looks interesting! 2

belugawhaleman
A big haul ( for me) of kits came today! First, from Takom is their French Heavy Tank St Chamond early type. (No.2002) in 1/35. These kits, the early versions, are getting hard to find. Hobby Boss makes some but I don't know much about those. Next; is another Takom kit in 1/35. Their M29 Weasel (No.2167). Man! This kit is tiny! Oddly it includes link & length tracks when the actual vehicle used rubber tracks similar to the Ontos. Next; from Das Werk, is their Schwimmwagen Trippel SG 6/38 (DW 35012) in 1/35. I knew I was going to get this kit when it was announced. It's odd-looking appearance appealed to me. Last; from Border, is their IJA 28cm Howitzer Russo-Japanese War 1905 (BT-030) in 1/35. Another odd subject. My first Border kit, it looks like Decent kit. I've added a picture of an actual Trippel .....See what I mean? Odd-looking! 3

CrankyCrafstman
17 hours ago, harv said: Who males a good 1/16 WWII Sherman ? ....harv The only WW2 Shermans in 1/16 scale are RC versions from Heng Long, Torro and Tigon. You could take Andy's 1/16 easy 8 and either the 1/16 Achilles or M10 and combine them into a M4A3 (76) W VVSS Sherman. You could get SOL models 105mm turret conversion to make a 105 Sherman, but this is a expensive option at $139.99 for the Sherman & $149.00 for the Achilles/ M10. I'm not sure what the 105mm conversion is. But it's close to $100.00.😵💫😱 Ron G 3

BlrwestSiR
Like Ron said, at the moment there isn't an easy way to get a WWII Sherman. I'd wait a bit if you want to do a VVVS Sherman as I'm sure Andy's will come out with one. He's got almost all the parts now. 2

That's one I'm considering as there's pics of an M29C being carried inside a Amtrac which would make a cool display. 4

ScottsGT
This just showed up in the mail. Of course I get the butt chewing because it looked like a kit and not a book on the Amazon photo. And her one track mind thinking everything is a model kit. I figure when I order the kit I’ll just tell her she chewed my ass for it already so I might as well enjoy it! 4

belugawhaleman
Got some nippers from Amazon today; From GodHand, their GH SPN 120 Ultimate cutters. I've heard a lot of good things about these. I was pleased to find out that they are Japanese made and not Chinese and they look very well made. They are also very sharp. They have the single cutting blade with the other being the "anvil" surface. I've had good luck with the Tamiya cutters I have. The Trumpeter cutters refuse to cut flush.. mine leaves a little wedge behind...don't know why..Bad alignment I suppose. The Xuron cutters I have are great for thicker plastic. These GodHand, well we'll see. Haven't tried them yet. 4
BlrwestSiR
The Godhand nippers are supposed to be among the best. I've got the Despaie ones arnd have found them to be very good. I also have a couple pairs of the Trumpeter ones. The first pair worked really well, a perfect absolutely flush cut. Then I dropped them and broke the blade. The second needed a slight adjustment to the setscrew and are about 95% as good as the first pair. 2

CrankyCrafstman
I have the Despaie ones also. I give them about a 9 &1/2, but I mostly just use my Tamiya ones.🤔🙂 Ron G
DocRob
I bought a Dspaie nipper some years ago to substitute my old Tamiya cutter, which lost a tooth on one blade. I was not very satisfied with the Dspaie. It cuts well, but tends to stick into the plastic. I added two different Tamiya nippers later and liked them better. They are more versatile and robust to my eye. The cutting residue of the sprue is about the same. I use the Dspaie very rarely, only if parts leave not enough space between them and the sprue. DocRob
Some fast stuff, reached my recently neglected bench. I saw this one lately and had to buy it, The kit seems to be a simple build and I added some Speed 8 Green metallic from Number Five colors. I couldn't say no to this Manga styled BMW. Again a simple kit, but these are hard to find for a reasonable price. I bought it fairly priced, brand new and found the decaling manual nearly as content heavy as the building manual. I have another version of the BMW Z4 from Fujimi (which will sport a Michel Vaillant livery) and this has seat belts and masks for spraying the windows included. I can use the masks for both and added some seatbelts for this one. Cheers Rob
