Padubon Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Gentlemen, I am taking a break from the Italeri Mirage by working on the HK Do335. I like the Luftwaffe night fighters, therefore I decided to convert the kit from a B-2 to a B-6. The only rear tub picture I was able to find was from a 335 that the French flew and it did not have any radar equipment. The model is going to be a what if because I do not know if in reality any B-6 was actually constructed. For the build I am doing a little scratch build, Eduard wheels and photo etch. Please feel free to suggest and comment, as I am very much shooting from the hip on this one. Paulo Dubon 7
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted August 1, 2016 Administrators Posted August 1, 2016 Holy wow! So you couldn't wait for the two seater to come out?? Some cool scratch building here... Following this! 1
Padubon Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 Jeroen, I was not planning on getting this model but a friend had it and he sold it to me for $60. I thought it was a good deal and I got it. Paulo 1
Padubon Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Here some new pictures of the landing gear. The nose gear does not have the hydraulic actuator to extend/retract the strut. I am puzzled by HK omission, but I had to fabricate one based on a few references and by looking at the instructions on the ZM Do335. 1
Padubon Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 A little work on the exhaust flame suppressors and radar antennas. The antennas are not glued yet, I am still working on them. 3
Uncarina Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 This is epic! I applaud your skills--in particular, that extra cockpit is great. Cheers, Tom
fab Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Hello Amazing job! You can do neitherless a "what if" very nearby the " 1945 .08 reality" in Mengen like the M14 nr 230014 with the radar operator and the fug220 radar aerial, and the mk103 in the wings ...but i think you would be more a reasonable assumption to do the M17 nr 240013...without the mk103 but really from the first batch of the B6 series...but there are only my conclusions... I will follow your build with interest very good skill....go on Paulo! Amities Fab 1
Padubon Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Thank you guys, I really appreciate your comments. Regarding the build, I will do the B6 destroyer with the 103s. Here some more photos, this time the landing gear. 1
Padubon Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 More pictures of landing gear and the rear canopy made of scraps. 6
Padubon Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Hello guys, here some more pics. I have finally began painting! 4
Uncarina Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Very impressive, that rear canopy looks great. You have some serious skills! Cheers, Tom
Padubon Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 More painting. I made the markings using Tamiya masking tape sheet, which is thin and great for this kind of projects. Then I proceeded to place the marking masks correspondingly. This is how it looks after painting. I am going to make this model as if it belonged to JG 300 Wilde Sau with its Reich defense tail bands. 4
Wingco57 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Those selfmade masks look very nice, as they are not perfectly formed they really add an authentic look to the Pfeil. In the final days of the Reich the rules were not strictly adhered to any more. Very nice. Cees
nmayhew Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 wow that is some hard core modelling right there, and a pretty awesome mottle paint job as well most impressive!
Padubon Posted December 10, 2016 Author Posted December 10, 2016 Thank you. Tomorrow I will work on the wheel bays and possibly stencils.
Dennis.E Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Quite exquisite work on the landing gear Sir - if I had the money I think I would plump for one of these kits!
Members Mikester Posted December 17, 2016 Members Posted December 17, 2016 Really nice work on the paint, what a cool project!
Padubon Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 Almost there! Just a few more details and I will call it done. 2
