KevinM Posted May 4 Share Posted May 4 Got some paint on the Flak 88 started with a red brown and covered with a light Tan both Tamiya Acrylics I was trying to get the RB to poke through here and there and crevices.The paint looks good for the most part the pics are showing some kind of shadow me no photographer. BlrwestSiR Posted May 13 Share Posted May 13 Fingers! Somehow Bandai manages to mould fingers in 1 piece from two different types of plastic so they can move once you cut them free from the sprue. Here's the wrist joint. On the other side, you can see the pivots to allow it to articulate. belugawhaleman Posted May 17 Share Posted May 17 Back working on the Tamiya JSU-152. Got some paint on, clear-coat, and Decals on. I painted the tools and tow cables to be added-on later. The Tamiya decals seem to be much more sensitive to decal solution now. Almost too sensitive, but I got them on O.K.. My marking choice required a lot from the decals. The decal on the rear deck had to conform to welds, a hinge, hatch covers and bolt heads. The decal required tiny touch-ups with a brush and white paint afterwards. Later, when doing the decal on the back of the cabin, I tried something different. This decal had to conform to a large bump , a pistol port I think. This time after getting the decal in place, I brushed it with the decal solvent I left it alone. It works but you have to careful using it as things can go wrong very quickly. These decals weren't stubborn, they practically melted with my solution. I found it was best just to leave them alone and let the solvent do the work. Never thought of using Tamiya thinner before. BlrwestSiR Posted May 17 Share Posted May 17 Paul, I use it over a lacquer base coat. It can be either a clear lacquer or just paint. Here's an example from my Millennium Falcon build. Before the X20A: After: Like you did, I left it alone to dry. They're pretty soft and easily tear if you try to move it. The exhaust has just been finished. The opening at the end of the exhaust was milled free and the missing flare edge was added. KevinM Posted May 22 Share Posted May 22 This has been my diversion from the Scharnhorst a Tamyia Flak 88 and a turd of a kit Bloch 174 Heller/rebox by Buzco of California how old is this??I was probably 10years old I bet when it came out.I just could not throw it away I almost did this morning when decals went sound Duh Kevin it's 50years old maybe.I digress sprayed them and made it happen what was suppose to be a relaxing build..well it wasn't.I still need to touch up the L/rudder with some paint decals..decals.The 88 is to get me more in favor to weathering Dio maybe not any time soon the Scharnhorst is calling me back.
