Since I wrapped up the P-40, I jumped on a quick project I’ve been putting off for 20 years or more.
I bought this Pachinko machine off eBay 20 years ago and had it working great at work.  Finally had to take it home to keep the boss from playing on it all day. LOL!  There it sat in my basement ever since including after the move here.  Wife lit a fire under my butt to get it mounted on the wall and get it working because the grandkids want to play it.  So after $100 of lumber and a piano hinge, it’s mounted.  I have 500 more Pachinko balls on the way and getting a piece of glass cut in the morning to replace the plexiglass on it now.

And now she’s on my butt to get on this….

She's right, you need to finish that Avenger.

You really have an eclectic mix of toys there.

Back to working on the HEMTT with the Patriot missile launcher for my son.  Trumpeter A Team was on this one guys.  Everything fits perfectly and the detail is to the point of ridiculous.  This is a ladder bracket. Has two of them.

Yea, that’s my fingertip.  Here’s the ladder it went on.

See those 4 tiny ladder clamps on the right?  Yea, I launched one to be forever lost.  Stretched sprue replaced it.

I have to pause here to apply more wash before proceeding.

Damnit Carl!  Stop posting yummy pics like that.  I’m gonna wind up eating my iPad.

I wanted to try a brisket again a few months back. Publix wanted $11 a pound.  Yea, that wasn’t happening.  Went to Sam’s Club last week and they were marked down to $4 a pound.  Of course it didn’t show up at the register so I told them to keep it.

The big thing with brisket is do it low and slow. I did ours at 200°f for 10 hours. I was going to do it on our Big Green Egg but the outside temp dropped to -15°C so I used the oven. Rubbed it with chili powder, brown sugar and salt. Equal quantities of each. Then dropped in on a roasting rack and left it. At the 6 hour mark, I wrapped it in butcher paper and let it finish cooking. That's all it took.

Brisket is probably the most economical cut of beef for us at the moment. It was $105 for the 15 lb brisket which works out to $7/lb but that's Loonies. So $4-5 USD.

I'd love a bone-in rib steak but those are around $25/lb. Prime rib is the same.

If you want a comedic tragedy, for Christmas dinner with my folks we bought an 11lb Prime Rib and as it was so big I had to keep it in a cooler in the garage with ice packs. Sue put Jimmy in the garage a couple nights before when we had guests over. Guess what he found? Yup, ate almost the whole thing raw. Then started puking it up all over the house.  I joked that maybe we should just pick up and wash the chunks and make a stew. I ended up scrambling around the next day to find a replacement. Most expensive Christmas dinner I've ever made.

Sorry for laughing at that Carl, but that’s a classic!
Publix grocery stores have sales on standing rib roast just before Christmas every year.  This year it was $6 a lb. Last year it was $4 a lb.  Limit two.  I bought a 4 rib for dinner and a 6 rib to cut up into nice thick ribeyes.  Had three of them with family this past weekend.
I did discover that I need a really nice and sharp butchers knife that will hold an edge.  I thought I was buying nice knives when I went with Wusthof’s a few years back.  Either I got counterfeit or they are total crap at holding an edge.

Scott, I wish prime rib cost that much. But probably a good thing for my waist line and heart.

Hmm, I have a Wustof boning knife and haven't had any issues with it. Odd yours isn't holding an edge. I also have several Japanese single edged kitchen knives and those are awesome. Super sharp blades and just great to use.

A couple stalled projects have made a guest appearance on the bench.

Although technically they never left the bench and were just put to one side  but I digress.
