BlrwestSiR
I remembered that Dragon did a night fighter version of the Ho229 years ago. Here's their take on it. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/m/image/10062500 The radar is mounted to the nose on a long pole.

But I'm kinda leaning to wing mounted radar
Wumm
26 minutes ago, harv said: Hmmm, it could work on the wings. There is very little room on the 229 nose. One question, would these be used for ground targets ?. This place and people are awesome!!!....harv Not for the FuG 217... It was sometimes used with towel rack antennas and a rear-facing array in combination with the FuG 200 Hohentwiel on Ju88 / He111 and Do17 with the luxury of a third crew member. FuG 200 was primarily an anti-shipping measure, but would have been next to useless against background clutter when seeking ground targets. FuG 200 on Ju88 A-6
Ivan Ivanovich
Just thinking out loud... Why incorporating draggy old sh*t into a brand-new revolutionary airframe? FuG 240 Berlin equipped Ju 88G-6 and the projected Ju 388J had just started to lead the way. If the Ho 229B would have come to fruition, it would have been equipped with the smaller FuG 244 Bremen air intercept radar.
harv
Ivan, you make a good point there. It is a "what if" an advanced long range bomber. I have to dig into this more. Thanks everyone, but please post more if you find info......harv
BlrwestSiR
I've got a drawing of a Horton with a thimble nose radar mount. Sort of like on a Mossie. Definitely more aero versus the antler look. Let me see if I can dig it up. Carl
harv
I was thinking the same thing. After Ivan post, it got me thinking. OR a wing mounter pod like my Corsair radar was. Interesting in what we can come up with....harv

harv
This is the nose of the conversion piece. No room for radar with arms.....harv
Ivan Ivanovich
How about an underwing radar blister à la H2S?
harv
Ivan, I thought of that. But there absolutely no room on the bottom. I have my 1000 lb. bombs there. It will also have 2 under wing gas bags

Bill_S
Go to your local cigar shop and see if they have a cigar tube of the right diameter. Be sure to bring that resin nose with you.

Wumm
Keep an eye out wherever you go Harv... Such as this little plastic top on the pump-action Mosquito repellent here at my work. It's roughly an inch long by about half, and made from soft plastic that should be easy enough to cut and shape. (Disclaimer: other brands are also available.)

GazzaS
Hate to do this, guys but.... The Germans had a new RADAR at the end of the war. FuG 240. No draggy aerials required:
