Ern you can have the dipoles from my Widow if you don’t have a set, I don’t need them on the rf61 conversion

Thanks Mike, but I have the Widow kit in the stash.

Dennis, YOU DA MAN!!!!

now I've got to dig out my P-61 and see if those are in there somewhere....

Those are the ones, that's for sure.  I guess it stands to reason that a postwar Canada would Americanize their equipment as much as needed, and honestly, that's the one single avenue I hadn't investigated.

Did you say there might be some AM versions of these out there somewhere?  I'm quite happy to scratch them, but if a small company makes them, I'll support them.

I've tried to find them, but haven't been able to. I likely saw them in 1/48, and that's what I remember. I recommend scratching them; they look really easy to do.

Yep!  I'll start on it tonight.  Yopu, sir, are a lifesaver. Some fairly fertile minds have been trying to find some clear reference pics on these.

Profimodeller makes them, maybe master too?

Can you send a link for that product as I shall be needing one for my wartime Lancaster, Rebecca aerials were quite common on mid-late production Lancasters.

I am at work and have tried to access the web site but the company has blocked the page as it is classed as 'Weapons'  !!!!

Many thanks

David

Could I use this (these) in my build I wonder ?

Those would be fairly large to turn a 1/32 scale prop. You might want to try and find a 280 size motor or possibly even smaller.  You'll definitely need a speed control of some sorts or a gear box to reduce the rooms though.

a great scheme on a giant.

Thanks Rick.  Not on the level of your unbelievable Tempest, but I never planned it to be. I’m pretty darned happy so far.

Finding the little differences and  ring shown postwar modifications are much fun on this build.

Like here’s an example that was forwarded to me. Postwar Canadian wingtip position lights. Many were questioning the formation lights on the wingtips. Postwar Canadian for sure. Not sure about others.

Some scratchbuilding required.

Mark, I took the ones out of my P-61 kit for now and am scratching the flat reflectors. The Lanc uses a slightly different mounts, but these are pretty darn close so that a few swipes of a #11 and a sanding stick fixes them.

Working on creating the correct cheek antennas for the postwar Lanc.

The basic antennas were swiped from my P-)1 kit, but they need a pile of modifications, starting with the bases and stalks.  I think we’re pretty close now, so next we make four of the distinctive signal reflectors and mount them to the antennas.

These will certainly look much more the part and are an obvious big difference on this, the last of the Lancs.

Well a much deserved thank you is needed for the LSM community. Y’all came through and provided some much needed research and reference pics for the Lanc’s cheek arrays.

So after lifting the basic shapes from my P-61, I modified and updated them to match the pictures of what was installed on FM104.

I think we got it, folks!  Y’all are certainly coming through on this build. THANKS!

Looks good Ernie.

Hey for those wing tips lights, how about some of those colored cocktail sabers?

That’s a neat idea, Ryan.  I’ll look into that. It sounds about right.

Yeah seems you could shape them into what you need.

Also, there’s a pair of white running lights on the tail under the rear turret that are not very well represented on the kit. I’ll cut the kit parts off and replace them with clear saber tips as well.

Brilliant idea, Ryan!

Thanks

Ernie, have you tried any of the clear UV glues for making the lights? They're viscous enough to form into a shape and not run from where you place them on the model. I've used them a few time for formation lights.
